Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 231: "Miss Linden and I Haven’t Reconciled for the Time Being.
Rory Linden didn’t go over right away. She stood where she was, quietly watching the man outside the glass.
She didn’t know how long he had been waiting there, but his face showed no trace of impatience, nor did it betray any other emotion.
He was just standing there.
People coming and going occasionally glanced his way.
The man didn’t seem to mind at all.
As if sensing he was being watched, Sean Harrison glanced toward the inpatient department entrance.
Rory Linden quickly pretended she had just arrived and walked out briskly.
"Why are you here so early?" Rory was the first to ask.
"I didn’t have anything to do, so I came a little early." Sean Harrison’s lips curved into a slight smile. "You got off work early today?"
"Yeah."
Rory didn’t want to mention that she was on the night shift.
She actually wanted to tell him that he didn’t need to come so early to wait for her.
But on second thought, she decided against it.
’If the meal on the day of Henry Lancaster’s wedding is the last one, there won’t be many more chances like this anyway.’
-
Rachel Lancaster’s studio was still in the same location as before.
But the decor had been completely redone, making it look much more impressive.
Just as their car pulled up to the entrance, Rachel Lancaster came out to greet them.
"Hello, Mr. Harrison, Miss Linden!"
Rachel skipped over to them.
She was wearing a short skirt and a camisole with a sheer cover-up, looking much the same as she had a few years ago.
"Long time no see."
Rory greeted her politely.
Rachel said with a smile, "I thought it would take you two a while to get back together. I didn’t expect it to be so soon! It’s perfect timing. I just made some more alterations to your wedding dress the other day. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied, Miss Linden!"
"..."
"..."
After she said that, neither of them responded.
Sean Harrison wanted to see Rory Linden’s reaction.
Deep down, he knew there was very little chance of him and Rory getting back together.
But he still couldn’t let go of that tiny sliver of hope.
Rory’s silence was her waiting for Sean Harrison to explain.
After a moment, Sean finally spoke. "We’re not here to look at wedding dresses. I’m here to pick out an evening gown for Rory for your brother’s wedding at the end of the month."
"Oh, I see. Well, that gives us a lot more to choose from." Rachel said as she led them inside. "For my brother’s wedding this time, my sister-in-law’s entire bridal party ordered their dresses from me, and so have a lot of the guests."
The three of them walked into the studio.
Rachel continued, talking almost to herself, "When you two get married, I can gift you the bridesmaids’ dresses. No strings attached, just list my studio in the list of sponsors."
Seeing that Sean Harrison wasn’t saying anything, Rory finally spoke up. "Um... Miss Lancaster, I’m sorry, but President Harrison and I will not be getting married."
The air was silent for a few seconds.
Rachel glanced at Rory Linden, then turned to look at Sean Harrison.
Her gaze was filled with a single question: ’For real?’
Sean Harrison had no choice but to break the silence. He nodded and said, "Miss Linden and I have not reconciled for the time being."
Rachel immediately noticed their completely different attitudes.
Rory’s tone had been absolutely certain.
Sean, however, had qualified his statement with "for the time being."
"I’m so sorry, I’m sorry. I misunderstood."
Rachel showed them into the lounge on the first floor.
An assistant then brought over a tablet. "Miss Linden, please take a look and see which one you like. I’ll have a model with a similar figure to yours wear it for you."
Rory lowered her eyes to the tablet in front of her.
It was filled with all sorts of evening gowns, most of which looked overly extravagant for her taste.
While Rory was still looking, Rachel turned to Sean Harrison and asked, "By the way, Mr. Harrison, what kind of suit will you be wearing that day? We should pick a gown that coordinates with it."
"I haven’t decided yet. Let her choose first," Sean said.
Rachel got it. ’To put it bluntly, everything revolves around Rory.’
’These two...’
’Why haven’t they gotten back together?’
’One thing’s for sure, Rory Linden is single. Otherwise, she probably wouldn’t be accompanying Sean Harrison to my brother’s wedding.’
Rachel then said to Rory, "Miss Linden, the wedding is still over ten days away, so don’t worry about us not being able to finish a dress in time. As long as you pick one, our designers will work overtime to get it made for you."
Rory looked through the options and finally selected a few light-colored gowns.
A model wore them one by one for her to see.
From those, she chose a white one.
The gown had no intricate decorations and very simple lines, with just a few tassels on the hem.
"You’re not going to look at any others?"
Rachel’s tone held a hint of regret.
She knew who the guests at her brother’s wedding would be, and many of them had their eyes on Sean Harrison.
Some wanted Sean Harrison as a husband for themselves, while others wanted him as a son-in-law.
There were also some female celebrities hoping to latch onto him.
With all that pressure, she had hoped to dress Rory Linden up stunningly to showcase her beauty to the fullest.
"No, this is fine. It’s your brother’s wedding and I’m just a guest. This is perfect."
Rory was firm in her choice.
Sean said, "Yes, that one looks very nice."
Rachel asked again, "Do you want to pick a backup? Just in case the dress gets dirty or something?"
Rory personally felt it was unnecessary.
However, since she was accompanying Sean Harrison, she still asked for his opinion. "What do you think?"
"Let’s pick one or two more," Sean said.
’It wouldn’t matter if she picked ten more, or even fifty.’
He was never afraid of Rory Linden spending too much money; he was more afraid of her rejecting him and drawing a clear line between them.
Rory picked out another one.
The model left.
Looking at the two of them on the sofa, Rachel couldn’t help but speak up. "Miss Linden, since you’re here, would you like to see the wedding dress I designed for you? I’ve made a lot of changes to it since then, and I’m very happy with the final product."
Back then, the two of them had planned to order a wedding dress, but it never happened.
So Sean Harrison had given Rachel more than enough money, described all of Rory Linden’s preferences that he knew, and let Rachel take creative freedom.
Later, he gave her even more money, telling her to create new designs if she had better ideas.
If money was an issue, she could just come to him.
At the time, Rachel didn’t know what their situation was, but she had a faint feeling that they would get back together sooner or later.
Sean Harrison’s gaze shifted toward her.
Rory hadn’t expected Rachel to have actually designed a wedding dress for her in the end.
Rachel said it again, "Whether you wear it or not, just take a look, right? I’ve been designing it for so long, you can’t let all my hard work go to waste, can you?"
The entire lounge fell completely silent.
Both of them awaited Rory Linden’s answer with anticipation.
