Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 137: You’ve Lost So Much Weight...
The car hadn’t started yet. With the interior lights on, everything inside was visible through the windows.
The person outside could see everything clearly.
The man’s other hand gripped her wrist, preventing her from escaping.
Whether it was the confined space of the car or the thinness of the air, Rory was so thoroughly kissed by the man that she could barely breathe, her cheeks flushing crimson.
The man’s kiss explored every corner of her mouth before he finally gave her a chance to breathe.
"You came back and didn’t contact me, but you saw him first?"
As he finished speaking, his fingers gently pinched her hot earlobe.
A light punishment. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"No... It was a coincidence."
Rory explained in a low voice.
"What a coincidence?"
Sean still kept his face very close to hers.
From outside the car, it looked as if the two were still kissing.
Rory looked at him, feeling a little wronged. She explained everything that had happened before finally asking, "Don’t you believe me?"
"I believe you." Sean kissed her lips again. "Let’s go home."
With that, he leaned over and fastened her seatbelt.
As Sean returned to the driver’s seat, Rory realized that Miles Harrison was still standing not far from the car.
Just staring into the car.
Rory turned her face away, pretending she hadn’t seen him.
She didn’t care about Miles Harrison’s feelings; she just wasn’t in the habit of public displays of affection.
The car moved slowly along the city streets.
Sean glanced at the woman beside him out of the corner of his eye. "You’ve lost a lot of weight."
He’d noticed it when he grabbed her wrist earlier—she had lost far too much weight. Her already slender wrist was even thinner than before.
It felt as if she were nothing but bone.
"Perfect. Now I don’t have to go on a diet."
Rory teased.
She had a naturally low body fat percentage, so losing even a little more weight was very noticeable.
"You don’t need to lose weight. I’ll love you no matter what." Sean reached out and squeezed her wrist. "You’re too thin."
"It’s fine. I’ll gain it back now that I’m home."
Rory replied.
Her phone, tucked away in her purse, started to ring.
Rory glanced at the caller ID and answered the phone.
Sherry Walsh’s voice immediately came through. "Are you okay? Miles Harrison didn’t do anything to you, did he?"
"I’m fine. I just dropped him off at his place. I’m in Sean Harrison’s car now, and we’re almost home."
Rory updated her on the situation.
Sherry Walsh finally relaxed. "Oh, good, that’s good. Miles Harrison really is a rabid dog. You should stay away from him from now on."
"Yeah, I doubt we’ll be seeing much of each other anymore."
Rory replied.
"Okay." Sherry hadn’t forgotten about her own agenda. "Oh, right, don’t forget to talk to your boyfriend about me assisting Lawyer Sterling."
After hanging up, Rory told Sean about Sherry wanting to be Noah Sterling’s assistant.
"Sure. I’ll let Noah know. She can just report directly to his firm."
For Sean Harrison, something like this was a trivial matter.
Rory still said a polite, "Thank you."
Traffic was light at night.
About twenty minutes later, the car pulled into the underground parking garage.
Rory got out of the car first. When she turned back, she saw Sean walk to the rear of the car and take a white paper bag from the trunk. Inside was a square box.
The box was about the size of a six-inch cake box.
"What’s this...?"
"A gift for you."
Sean closed the distance to Rory in a few steps and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
"Let’s go. We’ll open it when we get home."
As the man carried the bag, Rory could tell it was quite heavy.
「Back at home.」
Rory sat on the sofa.
Sean took the box out of the bag, placed the bag on the low coffee table in front of the sofa, and handed the box to her.
Then, he crouched beside her legs, waiting for her to unwrap the gift.
Rory carefully opened the box.
Inside lay another, much smaller box.
The small box was wrapped in thick black paper and sealed with red wax.
"Should I just open it?"
Rory looked at Sean.
The man nodded.
Only then did Rory tear away the outer paper.
As she tore away the paper, a black leather box was revealed.
She opened it.
Inside, a diamond ring lay nestled.
The centerpiece was a teardrop-shaped red diamond, set on a simple, plain band.
The entire ring showcased the beauty of the gemstone with perfect purity.
The ring’s design was rather understated, just as Rory had requested.
Likely due to her profession, she wasn’t a fan of overly ornate jewelry herself.
"Didn’t you say it would take at least three months to have it custom-made?"
Rory was surprised.
"I’ve been pressing them this whole time. It was finally finished today, so I went to the designer’s studio to pick it up myself."
As he spoke, Sean took the ring from its box, ready to place it on her finger.
"You... you went out of town today just to get this ring?"
"I wasn’t going to rush it, but it happened to be finished today, and you also got back from your trip. I wanted to be the first to give it to you."
Sean lifted her left hand with his. With his right, he carefully held the ring between his thumb and middle finger. "Let’s see if it fits."
As he finished speaking, the ring slid onto Rory’s middle finger.
It settled perfectly at the base of her finger.
A perfect fit.
Rory’s slender, fair fingers made the red diamond’s color appear all the more brilliant and vivid.
"Do you like it?"
Sean looked up at her.
The whole exchange felt, in a way, almost like a marriage proposal...
Rory lifted her hand, carefully examining the ring on her left middle finger before nodding in affirmation. "I love it."
In a way, this was the first time in her life that Rory had ever received such a meaningful gift.
She looked at the man before her and thanked him earnestly. "Thank you..."
"Just with words?"
Sean stood up, then knelt with one knee on the sofa, resting a hand on the backrest.
He took her left hand with his other, admiring it for a moment before lightly biting the tip of her middle finger...
"Hiss..."
Rory sucked in a breath from the sting.
"You didn’t contact me when you got back. Seeing a friend is one thing, but you had to go see Miles, too..."
His tongue gently licked the spot he had just bitten.
He slowly leaned down to kiss her.
His kisses trailed from her forehead down to the tip of her nose, and finally to her lips...
The back of the sofa was low, and he was too tall.
It made for a very uncomfortable kiss...
Rory’s body was slowly pressed down by him...
"You’ve gotten so thin..."
Sean lifted his head slightly, his palm resting over her heart.
Rory’s cheeks flushed red.
Just as she was about to speak...
"DING DONG."
The doorbell rang.
It echoed throughout the living room.
