Living Only For Myself: Make Those Who Hate Me Regret It-Chapter 211: What Did You Two Do By Mutual Consent?
Gu Yunjia arrived a few steps behind. Standing shoulder to shoulder with Xi Zirong, she finally saw Zhou Mochen and Xu Su’s joined hands.
She had just seen this man drag Xu Su away in the cafeteria with her own eyes, so she wasn’t surprised in the least. A sarcastic smile spread across her face. "Xu Su, is this your new boyfriend?"
She feigned a look of sudden realization. "So you broke up with God Xi for this man? I guess good looks really do let you get away with anything... Was this a seamless rebound, or were you just cheating on him all along?"
Zhou Mochen’s eyes shot up to Gu Yunjia. "New boyfriend?"
Xu Su’s face went deathly pale. She could feel a terrifying, murderous aura emanating from the tall young man beside her in that instant, making her heart pound with fear.
Gu Yunjia was slow to perceive danger and didn’t notice the change in Zhou Mochen at all.
Instead, she realized Xu Su’s new boyfriend didn’t seem to know about her relationship history at school, and she instantly perked up.
Gu Yunjia’s smile took on a malicious edge. "You don’t know? Our Xu was in a relationship with God Xi for a year. It’s something pretty much everyone at our school knows. Did our Xu hide that from you?"
She reached out to take Xi Zirong’s arm, but he pulled away. She acted as if she didn’t care.
Gu Yunjia gave Xi Zirong a pained smile. "No wonder you never said why you two broke up when people asked. Now the answer is revealed. Turns out Xu Su latched onto the scholarship donor, so of course she’d look down on a poor student like you. God Xi, so you’ve been cuckolded?"
Very few people knew that Zhou Mochen had donated a school building; most people only recognized him from the stage at the scholarship award ceremony.
After he had pulled Xu Su out of the cafeteria, word of his identity as the donor of the five-million scholarship had spread.
Gu Yunjia’s thoughts were the same as those of the other students at First High School.
She’d latched onto the scholarship donor, so she dumped the poor student, Xi Zirong.
Gu Yunjia’s words were pure provocation, but Xu Su’s expression didn’t even flicker. She didn’t have the mental energy to listen to what Gu Yunjia was saying; all her strength was focused on desperately holding onto the arm of the man beside her.
"Zhou Mochen, can we please go back? I’ll tell you anything you want to know."
Zhou Mochen whipped his head around to look at her, his deep-set eyes seemingly burning with a fire that threatened to engulf her. "Can I even trust you anymore?"
He spoke as if in disbelief. "Susu, how could you do this to me?"
Xu Su’s heart jolted. In that moment, what she felt wasn’t so much fear, but pain.
’What have I done...?’
She was trembling all over. Unable to utter a single word of explanation, she could only shake her head, looking utterly terrified.
Seeing this, Xi Zirong, who had been silent until now, suddenly stepped forward to stand in front of Xu Su. "You’re scaring her. If you have a problem, take it out on me. I’m the one who pestered her. I’m the one who pursued her. She only passively accepted me."
Zhou Mochen expressionlessly released Xu Su’s hand. He spoke slowly, "And how did you pester her?"
A faint smile appeared on Xi Zirong’s lips as his gaze met Zhou Mochen’s. "I can’t compare to you. I couldn’t bear to threaten her, and I would never force her. Everything we did was consensual."
"Oh..." Zhou Mochen gave a slight nod, his tone placid and calm. "And what did you do consensually?"
Xu Su shuddered violently, shaking her head frantically at Xi Zirong.
Her gesture was useless. The next second, she heard Xi Zirong’s clear voice, "Everything."
Xu Su’s eyes flew wide open, unable to believe what she had just heard.
In that instant, Xi Zirong was knocked to the ground, a trickle of blood quickly spilling from the corner of his mouth.
Zhou Mochen’s face was a mask of savagery, his handsome features twisted into a ferocious snarl. Before Xi Zirong could get back up, he kicked out, and a sharp CRACK of a bone breaking echoed in the air.
Xi Zirong wiped the blood from his mouth, rolled to the side, and forced himself to his feet. By the time Xu Su reacted and tried to stop them, the two men were already tangled in a brawl.
This was the first time she had ever seen someone dare to fight back against Zhou Mochen. In the few fights Xu Su had witnessed in her past life, it was always Zhou Mochen unilaterally beating his opponent, with no one daring to retaliate.
Xi Zirong had mentioned he’d studied Sanda, but it still didn’t cause Zhou Mochen much trouble. After just a few exchanges, he was pinned to the ground. Vicious fists rained down on Xi Zirong’s body, and a terrified Gu Yunjia screamed, about to rush in and stop it.
Xu Su beat her to it, shielding Xi Zirong with her body. She cried out, "Stop hitting him! Zhou Mochen, stop! You’re going to kill him!"
Zhou Mochen’s fist froze in mid-air. He stared at the girl shielding the young man, a bone-chilling cold radiating from his entire body.
Xu Su could only shake her head, unable to say a word.
An arm tightened around her waist. It was Xi Zirong, holding her tight from the ground. The young man coughed up a mouthful of blood and spoke with difficulty, "Susu, there’s nothing between me and Gu Yunjia. I didn’t kiss her. I only like you, and only you."
Xu Su’s pupils constricted. Crying, she nodded, fumbling for her phone to dial 911 while quickly trying to soothe him. "I know, I know. Xi Zirong, don’t talk anymore."
’She never would have thought that even at a time like this, Xi Zirong’s first reaction would still be to worry about her misunderstanding him.’
This scene of tender affection between them made Zhou Mochen’s eyes turn crimson.
He yanked Xu Su to her feet and kicked Xi Zirong hard in the abdomen, his voice cold and laced with killing intent. "How many lives do you have? How many lives do you think you have to dare and touch what’s mine?"
"Stop kicking him, Zhou Mochen! He’s going to die!" Xu Su desperately clung to the enraged man, begging and sobbing so hard she could barely breathe. "He was just talking nonsense! We didn’t do anything, we really didn’t! Let me explain, okay? Please, let’s just get him to the hospital first."
Xi Zirong had already passed out completely.
Panic seized Xu Su’s heart. She looked at Gu Yunjia and screamed, on the verge of a breakdown, "What are you standing there for?! Go get a teacher!"
Zhou Mochen stared silently into Xu Su’s eyes. After a long moment, he took out his phone. "Huang Chao, get some people over here to handle this."
Huang Chao was still in the cafeteria eating with the school administrators. He was baffled when he took the call, having no idea what he was supposed to come and "handle."
Zhou Mochen hung up, tightened his grip on Xu Su’s hand, and began to pull her away.
Xu Su was worried about Xi Zirong’s injuries, but she didn’t dare to struggle, much less show any more concern for him.
She remembered Shen Chen’s words: ’The more you care about that little boyfriend of yours, the faster he’ll die.’
She didn’t even dare to look back...
Such a huge commotion had long since attracted a crowd of students returning to class after their lunch break. Xu Su even saw Huang Feng and Qian Jia. Her eyes were so swollen from crying that she couldn’t make out their expressions, and she had no energy to even consider what her friends must be thinking of her.
She forced herself to be calm. ’Cool it,’ she told herself. ’Don’t make things even worse.’
’Zhou Mochen is in a state of pure rage. My first priority is to calm him down.’
’I don’t understand why Xi Zirong would say that. Why would he want Zhou Mochen to misunderstand?’
’Today’s events have spiraled completely out of my control.’
’There are too many things I don’t understand.’
