Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Unexpected Call

Stella Grant didn’t know that the person on the other end of the phone was Silas Sutton.

After deep consideration, she thought Forrest Keller made a valid point.

Putting aside personal feelings, Silas Sutton helped her with such a big favor, she indeed should express a gesture of gratitude.

Things like kidney donors aren’t always available just because you have money.

Many patients wait three to five years for a kidney, which is quite normal.

Silas Sutton is powerful and influential, giving him a gift wouldn’t be appropriate, so inviting him for a meal became the best option.

Stella considered for about a minute or so before replying to Forrest Keller with a message: "Okay, then whenever you have time, I’ll invite you for a private meal."

On the other end, Silas Sutton’s expression remained unfathomable. After a while, he replied: "You can invite President Sutton; I’m busy lately."

Seeing Forrest Keller’s message, Stella Grant was momentarily at a loss for how to respond. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

She somehow felt Forrest was acting a bit strange today, but couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was.

But before she could think more deeply, Sue Woods brought up another topic.

"Is Flynn Shepherd still in touch with you?"

Stella lifted her gaze, "No, why?"

Sue Woods sneered, "Heard that punk is living terribly now, not only lost his job and got beaten up, but he’s also got a living ancestor at home."

Stella Grant was curious, "What living ancestor?"

Ray Woods interjected with a smile, "Your President Wright’s wife."

Stella raised an eyebrow, "Are those two together now?"

Stella had previously heard from President Wright that he was proceeding with divorce paperwork, but she hadn’t kept up with the outcome.

For one, Mrs. Grant’s incident had left Stella no time for other concerns.

For another, it was none of her business; she and Flynn Shepherd had settled their issues, and she didn’t want to focus on matters concerning him anymore.

Upon Stella’s words fading, Sue Woods mockingly said, "Don’t know if they’re together, but heard that Mrs. Wright is all over him now, has practically moved in, and even argues daily with Flynn’s kooky mom."

From Sue’s few words, Stella could completely picture the chaotic turmoil in the Shepherd Family household now.

Seeing Stella remain silent, Sue continued, "Those cheating scumbags wanted to be together, right? Guess they’ve got their wish."

Stella simply smiled without replying, taking the beverage on the table to pour a cup each for herself and Ray Woods.

Sue Woods reached to take her drink and wanted to say more when Ray Woods kicked her under the table.

Sue glared and turned her head.

Ray whispered in a voice only the two could hear, "You’ve really got no tact."

Sue, hearing this, suddenly realized something, pursed her lips, and changed the topic to chat about other things with Stella.

The breakfast lasted about an hour and a half for the three of them.

The long duration wasn’t because they ate a lot, but entirely due to the amusing antics of Sue Woods and Ray Woods.

The two went back and forth in their bantering.

Stella sat opposite them, feeling like she was watching a comedy duo’s sketch performance.

Sue Woods was like the funny man while Ray was the straight man.

After the meal, Stella saw the duo of entertaining siblings out the door, and Sue Woods patted her shoulder, saying, "In the past, the older generation valued the spirit of the dragon and horse, but we young folks now prize toilet spirit, just flush away the troubles, neat and clean."

Stella knew Sue was trying to reassure her, so she curved her lips into a smile, "Don’t worry, I’m not that fragile."

Hearing Stella’s words, Sue Woods felt a sudden ache in her heart, couldn’t hold back, and reached out to hug her. Whispering, she said, "I know it’s hard for you, don’t feel alone, you still have me."

Stella pursed her lips and hugged Sue Woods back, gently patting her back, "Don’t cry. Your cousin is still around. If he sees you crying, he’ll definitely laugh at you."

Sue Woods snorted lightly, "No worries, I wouldn’t cry even if it killed me in front of him."

A few minutes later, Stella escorted Sue and Ray Woods to the elevator.

Watching the elevator doors close, Stella turned and went home. She had just entered and was preparing to clean up the dishes on the table when her phone suddenly rang.

Stella lowered her gaze, hesitating for a few seconds as she saw Silas Sutton’s caller ID, before swiping to answer.

"President Sutton."

No one responded from the other end after Stella spoke.

Then, a stern and authoritative voice followed, "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning. You think you’ve grown wings, you don’t want an arranged marriage, you want to escape from The Sutton Family, escape my control, but you should weigh yourself first, do you even have the capability!!"
