Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 81: Masterful Schemes
Silas Sutton liked the post, which Ray Woods noticed immediately.
Ray Woods thought it was Forrest Keller and felt quite pleased, thinking the camaraderie they had during training hadn’t gone to waste.
While Ray was posting on social media, Stella Grant was in the kitchen sending a message to Justin Harrison, inquiring about Mrs. Grant’s current health condition.
After a few minutes, Justin Harrison replied: At the moment, the situation seems stable.
Stella Grant: If there’s a matching kidney source now, when can the surgery be performed?
Justin Harrison: At least three months later, after three months of dialysis.
Stella Grant: Okay, I understand.
Justin Harrison: Is there a kidney donation?
Stella Grant: Yes.
Justin Harrison: Then in about three months. I’ll send over the donor instructions in a bit, have the donor take a look.
Stella Grant: Thank you, and sorry for the trouble, Dr. Harrison.
Since the day he embarrassed Stella at the hospital, Justin Harrison had felt guilty and took this chance to ease the tension: It’s my duty.
After sending that, Justin Harrison awkwardly explained further: I always prioritize patients. Sometimes my words might seem harsh, but there’s no malice.
Stella Grant understood what Justin Harrison was implying and responded: I understand, thank you for taking care of my mom.
Justin Harrison: It’s my responsibility.
After finishing the conversation with Justin Harrison, Stella exited the chat and, with nothing better to do, opened her social media feed while walking out of the kitchen.
The first post she saw was Ray Woods’ four dishes and one soup, with one like from Forrest Keller.
Stella glanced at it and suddenly remembered she had promised to treat Forrest for dinner back in Brynnfield, so she tapped to open her friend list, found Forrest’s contact, and sent him a message: Have you eaten yet?
Forrest Keller replied instantly: ?
Stella Grant changed her approach: Have you dropped President Sutton home?
She had already finished cooking dinner, assuming Forrest had already done the drop-off.
But she didn’t know that Silas Sutton was returning to Sutton Estate tonight, doubling the usual distance.
Seeing Stella’s message, Silas Sutton gave a slight tug at his thin lips and typed with his long fingers: Yeah, what’s up?
Stella Grant: Do you have any plans tonight? If not, do you want to come over for dinner?
Sitting in the backseat, Silas Sutton stretched his long legs out, emotionlessly: I just saw Ray’s post, wouldn’t it be awkward if I came over?
Stella replied: It’s okay, it’s not just us; Sue Woods is here too.
Silas Sutton: Isn’t it just you and Ray?
Stella Grant: No.
Silas Sutton’s stern face softened slightly, and after about half a minute, he replied: Nah, you all are having family dinner; it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to come over.
After Silas sent this, Stella sent back a facepalm emoji.
The emoji was a big-headed yellow cartoon kid, teary-eyed with a wide grin.
Looking at the phone screen, Silas Sutton smiled slightly and replied: Isn’t that the case?
Stella Grant: With three people, one is a third wheel; with four, it’s not, you can even play mahjong with four.
Silas Sutton: But with four, aren’t there two third wheels?
When Stella received Silas’ message, she had just taken a sip of water and almost spat it out in laughter.
With a smile in her eyes, Stella was about to reply when another message popped up on the chat interface: President Sutton called for extra work.
Implication being he couldn’t come even if he wanted to.
Stella wasn’t sure if he was being truthful, but she still replied: Then let’s schedule another day.
Silas Sutton: Okay.
Seeing the message from ’Forrest Keller,’ Stella thought the conversation was over, put away her phone, and was about to take a step when her phone buzzed again in her pocket.
Stella paused, took out her phone again.
The screen showed a message from ’Forrest Keller’: I think President Sutton’s done you such a huge favor, you should at least treat him to a meal, both emotionally and logically.
Stella hesitated and didn’t immediately respond.
A second message from ’Forrest Keller’ swiftly followed: Just a suggestion, it’s up to you.
Stella pondered it for a moment, agreeing with Forrest’s reasoning: Hmm, I’ll pick a weekend to arrange something with President Sutton, you should come too.
’Forrest Keller’: I suggest you invite President Sutton alone to show your sincerity.
