Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 57: Mummy Bei
Sue Woods is completely caught up in the ’flesh-price compensation’ situation that would arise after Ben Lawson wakes up, not noticing there was someone else standing behind Stella Grant.
Stella was busy comforting her and didn’t have time to remind her.
Sue cried in Stella’s arms for a while, her head hung low, eyes closed, continuing to sob and complain.
"At the end of the day, it’s really not my fault. He insisted on escorting me upstairs. I thought he had ill intentions, that’s why I reacted."
"And I didn’t really go hard on him; I lightly flipped him over my shoulder and then barely stepped on his ribs twice with my foot."
Sue used ’lightly’ rather well here.
You could tell she was already trying to be ’light-handed’.
Stella said, "Don’t cry first, let’s see how things stand in a while."
Sue sniffed and raised her head, "No need to wait to see. We already have an answer; the nurse has told me the injuries are quite serious."
In this situation, Stella didn’t want to laugh, but she really couldn’t hold it back, "Didn’t you say you didn’t go hard on him?"
Seeing Stella’s laughing face, Sue cracked a smile through her tears, sniffling, "I didn’t go hard on him, but those pampered types are tender-skinned and fragile, I..."
As Sue was speaking, she suddenly noticed Silas Sutton behind Stella.
Sue paused, let out a sobbing hiccup, and froze.
Truth be told, Sue looked quite pitiful in her current state.
Sniffles bubbling, face covered in tear stains, and still wearing last night’s clothes, she hardly looked like the editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine.
If someone were to throw a bowl in front of her now, living off it might not lead to wealth, but it’d definitely cover basic needs.
Sue saw Silas Sutton, and naturally, he saw her too.
Silas moved his gaze away calmly and stepped into the ward, passing by Stella and saying, "Wipe her off."
Stella pressed her lips tight, instinctively tense but couldn’t help but want to laugh.
After Silas left, Stella pulled some tissues from her bag to wipe the tear stains from Sue’s face, leaving the sniffle bubbles for Sue to clean herself.
Sue tidied herself up quickly, her sadness replaced by curiosity, "You two??"
Sue hesitated, hinting at more.
Not sure how to explain, Stella decided to directly admit, "Yeah."
Sue’s eyes widened and rolled, "Are you out of your mind?"
Stella replied softly, "Didn’t think much last night, but right now, definitely feels like living dangerously."
Sue blinked, "What exactly is going on between you two?"
After asking, Sue realized the question wasn’t quite right and rephrased, "What exactly are you thinking?"
Feeling troubled over this matter, Stella couldn’t give Sue a clear answer, ambiguously dodging, "Take things as they come, we’ll discuss it later."
Sue worried, "You’re not planning to be with Silas Sutton, are you? Have you forgotten what I told you?"
Stella said, "No such plan."
Sue sighed in relief, "That’s good. Someone like Silas Sutton isn’t someone we can afford to mess around with."
Stella nodded, "Let’s talk about your thing first."
Bringing up her situation, Sue felt like a wilted eggplant, entirely dispirited.
She now felt like a prisoner on death row, whether she stretches her neck or retracts it, it’s inevitable unless someone breaks her out, otherwise she’s doomed.
Just as they were talking, Silas Sutton came out of the ward and said grimly, "Mr. Lawson has woken up."
Stella, "..."
Sue, "..."
A few minutes later, Stella and Sue appeared in Ben Lawson’s ward.
Upon seeing Ben Lawson, Stella couldn’t help but twitch her mouth a few times. She really couldn’t connect the mummy-like bandaged man on the bed with the person Sue claimed she only gently hit.
Ben Lawson was bandaged up leaving only his eyes visible.
But just from those eyes alone, you could tell his anger level was through the roof.
Sue locked eyes with Ben Lawson, her neck shrinking back, trying to hide behind Stella.
Stella pressed her lips, bracing herself as she spoke, "Mr. Lawson."
Ben Lawson just blinked without speaking, and seeing that, Stella held back laughter with pursed lips.
Silas Sutton glanced at Stella, eyes smiling, then casually sat down by Ben Lawson’s bed, asking lazily, "Are you sure you were just beaten, not in a car accident?"
The moment Silas spoke, the two women in the ward couldn’t hold back any longer, bursting into laughter.
Ben Lawson blinked, and all the words he wanted to say turned into one: Damn!
