Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 43: Virtue Unworthy of Position
The air inside the car solidified for a moment.
Silas Sutton saw her remain silent, put away his phone and mocked lightly, "Can’t bear to settle accounts with him?"
Stella Grant’s lips pressed slightly, then she smiled, "No."
After speaking, Stella looked at Silas Sutton, "President Sutton, are you sure there won’t be any mistakes in this investigation result?"
Silas Sutton’s face turned a bit stern, "Do you think I’d keep incompetents around me?"
Stella Grant took a breath, "Thank you for stepping in to help me."
Upon hearing Stella’s thanks, Silas Sutton’s expression softened slightly, and he asked in a deep voice, "What do you plan to do next?"
Stella’s emotions shifted quickly; she was angry a moment ago, but now was calm, "I haven’t decided yet."
Silas Sutton said, "I can help you."
Stella Grant, "You’ve already helped me a lot. I refuse to take undeserved benefits."
Kindness, especially from men to women, is either out of sympathy or lust.
Stella doesn’t like either.
The former makes her look incompetent, the latter—serving with beauty, beauty fades and love weakens—is a type of gender discrimination.
Stella refused decisively, not giving Silas any room to ease.
Silas Sutton’s thin lips slightly curved, "Fine."
After Silas Sutton spoke, Stella started the engine and turned the steering wheel.
As agreed earlier, first, they would go to Omni to retrieve the contract, then go to Sutton Group to sign it.
When the car arrived at Sutton Group, Stella followed Silas Sutton into the exclusive elevator upstairs.
Silas Sutton walked with his hands in his pockets, showing extreme indifference to those greeting him along the way.
Stella followed behind Silas Sutton and couldn’t see his expression, but judging from the way these subordinates avoided him, his expression couldn’t be pleasant.
The two entered the CEO’s office one after the other, and Silas Sutton curved his fingers and tapped the desk, signaling Stella to hand over the contract.
Stella understood and stepped forward. Silas took the document from her hand, flipped through a few pages, and signed his name with a few swift strokes where needed.
After signing, Silas pushed the contract along the desk towards Stella, leaning back lazily and asked, "Why did you choose to come to Veridia back then? For Flynn?"
Stella picked up the contract to check if Silas had missed any signatures, responding while checking, "No."
Silas Sutton, "Then why?"
Stella confirmed there were no mistakes, lowered her eyes to meet Silas’s gaze, "For the money, Omni offered a high price."
Silas laughed lightly, "Just for that?"
Stella kept the contract, "President Sutton, I believe in love, but I’m not love-obsessed."
Silas Sutton said, "If Sutton Group offered you a higher price than Omni to poach you, would you come?"
Stella responded seriously, "If President Sutton is serious, I would consider it carefully."
Stella was very candid.
Her candidness was heart-wrenching.
Silas Sutton looked at her, his chest inexplicably feeling blocked, he asked in a low voice, "What’s your current annual salary?"
Stella replied, "Six hundred thousand."
Silas Sutton maintained his expression, "I’ll offer you one million two hundred thousand. Complete the transition at Omni and report to Sutton Group."
Stella had always known Sutton Group’s salary and benefits were top-notch.
But she also knew Silas’s offer didn’t match the reality, "President Sutton, I’m currently not worth that price."
Silas Sutton’s lips curved slightly, "Who dislikes having too much money?"
Stella, "No one dislikes money, but if effort and reward aren’t proportional, an undeserved reward is a death sentence."
Silas Sutton was unsure where Stella’s theories came from.
It seemed since he met her, she had her own code of conduct.
Stubbornly sticking to her beliefs.
Never crossing the lines of her principles.
They looked at each other, Silas Sutton chuckled lightly with a hand at the corner of his lips, about to continue the conversation when Stella’s phone suddenly rang.
Stella apologetically glanced at Silas Sutton, "I’m sorry, President Sutton, I need to take this call."
Silas Sutton casually raised his chin to indicate she could proceed.
Stella thought it was something from the company, but when she took out her phone, she saw it was Sue Woods calling.
Stella paused for a few seconds, then answered, "Hello, Sue."
After Stella spoke, a pitiful voice came from the other end, "Stella, do you have time now? Can you come to the police station? I’ve been arrested."
