Legendary Oops System-Chapter 7: An S-ranked Psychic Awakening
BAADUMP!
BAADUMP!
BAADUMP!
White could almost feel his own heart pounding in his head, as if it had suddenly switched places with his brain.
He looked at the hovering ball, silver and glowless, just a few centimeters away from him.
This...this will determine everything, and he had no idea what it could be.
He had thought he would, but now, he didn’t.
He turned to the side and watched the girl.
Her face was hidden behind the hoodie, but she only seemed to hesitate just once, before her palms reached out, landing on the orb.
Immediately, it did, light began to glow slowly, and the scene made White bite his teeth.
’Fuck It!’
He cursed in his head, his hands reaching forward and landing on the orb.
For a moment, nothing seemed to happen, yet in the next,
GASPS!
A loud, shocking gasp escaped his lips as he felt a terrifying suction force from both the orb in front of him, as well as a force from his side, where the girl stood.
It was like an invisible energy wave was rushing into him from her, while the orb in front of him seemed to be trying to suck that off.
FLICKER
What followed was an incredibly blinding wave of light that filled the entire awakening hall, hundreds snapping their eyes shut from the power.
White’s eyes remained wide open from the pain, and the rush he was feeling in his heart.
The rush of an unbelievable amount of energy, but he wasn’t the only one whose eyes were widened.
All of the Officials from the universities had all risen to their feet.
Even in his past life, White knew they never stood up for any students, yet here they were, their gaze right upon him and the girl, and lit in shock.
White turned, and he noticed the girl also looking at him in shock.
"You..."
She said through the flurry of blue light that surrounded her, the same that surrounded him.
"You Awakened My Curse?"
She said, and White’s expression plummeted.
"Curse?"
The orb began to dim, and White took back his hands, turning to the University Officials.
They continuously looked between him and the girl, over and over again, before they all stared at each other in silence.
’Why is it taking so long?’
White thought, his heart almost escaping his ribs...or his head, by now.
But finally, the instructors took their seats, and one, the military man, called out.
"S-Ranked Psychic Awakening: Limitless."
He announced, as the crowd erupted in cheers, but White felt nothing to be happy about, because they weren’t doing it.
Normally, all 6 of them will raise their hands forward to show they were willing to accept.
They did that for all S-rank awakenings.
Yet, none of them were raising their hands.
They didn’t speak a word, just looking at both of them, with an almost pitiful expression.
Well, that was until the hooded girl dipped her hand into her coat and brought out a card.
A runic card in blue.
White could swear, he saw dried-up blood on the edges of that card.
"Sameur Ti. Etol Ri Torin."
She spoke in an incomprehensible language that made the two ladies from the XtremeCybers jump to their feet in shock.
The card was stretched towards them and they looked at it, disbelief in their eyes, as they turned to each other.
After a silence that seemed to extend forever, one of the XtremeCybers Officials stretched forward her hands.
"Amora. Don’t."
The other girl beside her tried to dissuade, but she kept it out still.
The hooded girl touched it, a relieved smile on her face, but then they turned to White, who remained standing there.
’No.’
The thought crossed White’s mind as he turned to the Officials from the United Earth Federation.
This was supposed to be the ones he joined.
He had awakened an S-rank, against all odds.
They ought to have their hands out for him to join them, yet they remained sitting, the older man even avoiding his gaze.
’This...This doesn’t make any sense.’
They were avoiding him.
And if they were avoiding him now, even with an S-rank awakening, would they accept him later as they did in his past life?
Or...
He was still deep in his thoughts when a hand suddenly grabbed onto his, and it was brought up, to touch the hands of the lady from the XtremeCyber Officials.
"He’ll join you, too."
She said to them as they looked at White, who still had clear reluctance in his eyes.
"Are both of you related?"
The lady asked, not even knowing why she asked such an obviously dumb question.
The hooded girl had this royal aura about her. One befitting of one who had awakened an S-grade Psychic ability, an especially rare one to add.
But the boy looked like he was one with the crowd...ordinary.
"Yes. He’s...He’s my twin brother."
She proclaimed, as the officials’ brows furrowed.
"If you don’t mind, can you allow us both to stay in your Mind space. We don’t want to return to the crowd..." She said, and in the next moment, the lady moved her hands from them, holding her to holding both their hands instead.
White felt the ground beneath him, phase from solid to gas and he turned down to find a blue door wide opened beneath his feet.
Both he and the hooded girl fell into it in the next moment, and the gate shut.
"The Awakening Ceremony May Resume."
They called out once more, taking their seats as the students immediately resumed.
___
"They were instantly picked by XtremeCybers."
"So special that the other academies didn’t even try to fight for them."
"Talk of being lucky."
___
Those were the words that echoed among the crowd as the ceremony continued its awakening.
__ __ __
It was like free-falling through darkness, a suffocating darkness, and White soon lost his consciousness.
Silence enveloped him for a long while before he felt his senses return, feeling himself lying on his back.
Immediately, he snapped his eyes open, and he shot upward, or at least tried to, but failed.
A snow-white hand reached forward, stopping his chest from moving any further, and he found the face before him.
It was her, the hooded girl.
"We’re safe here...for now."
