Legendary Oops System-Chapter 18: Passing The Test
One moment, he kneeled there, seemingly a step away from the doors of death, yet in the next, she witnessed the most unbelievable transformation.
The sound of bones creaking and flesh squirming echoed out as his body began rapidly regenerating.
His face was the most visible, the claw marks fading as the flesh pieced together.
His ripped-off arm followed next, bones regrowing only to be covered by muscles and then flesh.
It took exactly 2 minutes, and ultimately, she watched the white of his eyes shift back, the dark irises reappearing with a glint of blue in them, and he rose back to his feet.
Nova couldn’t make sense of it.
It didn’t make sense...none of this made any sense.
[Regeneration Complete!]
[Quests Complete!]
’Hey system?’
[Yes.]
’Level Me Up as I fight and automatically input an equal number of obtained stats into each of my stats.’
’If I have any ability upgrade cards, use them all to upgrade Limitless body.’
He ordered, and the system panel flashed
[Order Received. Levelling Will Take Place in Side-focus mode.]
[Records of Levelling will be revealed to the Host after Focus Mode.]
The system panel flashed, quickly reducing until it became a dot of light in the corner of White’s vision.
His orders were working, though, as he could feel the energy that began trailing within him, a sign of his stats increasing.
"Nova."
White called out, and she snapped out, finding him having arrived by her side and walking past.
"What?"
"Stay behind the beast’s carcass if you don’t want to get involved in the fight or wish to take a break from it."
He said, and before she could ask why.
GRUUUUUUUUM!
It was like an earthquake had struck as the ground beneath them began to reverberate.
With the death of an awakened beast, White was already aware that hundreds of other savage beasts would soon be gathered here.
After all, this was no longer just food.
The awakened beast carcass was now an evolution material.
Looking at his points,
[110/1,000]
’So, an awakened beast rewards 40 points. That’s much better. Hopefully, I can last till dawn.’
He mused, and in the next moment, the first beast shot out of the forest, facing White, who punched forward.
---
FLICKER
Through the clouds, rays of golden sun managed to seep through, shining illumination upon the jungle.
It wasn’t the second nor the third but the fourth and last day of the test.
Amongst the crannies of the unusually quiet jungle, there was a place that reeked of death.
Even the sun seemed to have a hard time illuminating the area, as blood red mist lingered in the air.
Piles upon piles of the beast’s corpse were stacked over like a mountain, beneath which blood flowed freely across the grass, which had long been turned crimson.
Reclining on the side of these piles of beasts were two people:
A white-haired girl, dressed in a robe, drowned in blood, and a boy dyed completely red and black.
They were none other than Nova and White.
Nova had already fallen asleep, reclined on his shoulder, her breath stable, but White remained wide awake, his breath rough and painful.
He was exhausted...incredibly exhausted.
Still through it, he raised his head, blood trailing down his face, and turned to his right hand where the runic watch was.
On it was the number, 1,300/1,000.
He turned to Nova’s watch, and he could see her number 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
’1,020/1,000’
They had both succeeded.
He had planned to fight all night long and relax during the day, but he had grossly underestimated things.
With the system taking a partial control of his levelling up, White was brimming with so much energy that exhaustion didn’t register in his mind.
With every injury, he healed, and the system filled him with energy from levelling up, allowing him to feel like he was only just starting the fight.
Like this, he had continued to fight, stacking up bodies over and over.
And the beasts never stopped coming.
Morning, night, and afternoon, they never stopped rushing for the evolution that surrounded him, and White never stopped killing.
After three days and nights of non-stop fighting, he finally finished.
But now that it was all over, the exhaustion he felt was mind-boggling, so much so that his mind felt sluggish beyond belief.
The beasts had also stopped coming. It was like a strange force had appeared in the forest, halting every action.
He looked at his watch,
00:00:00
The time was already over.
In that moment,
CREAAAK!
The sound of creaking echoed, and White unconsciously raised his head.
He noticed as space in the sky creaked open, and from the depth of it a familiar blue door hung.
In the next moment, it opened, and a milky white leg appeared, the full body descending after.
It was the lithe frame of a body, slowly stepping down from the air.
The air rippled, as if there were stairs, as she stepped, ultimately stopping a meter above White and Nova.
She stared at Nova, fast asleep, and her hands reached out.
Blue aura surrounded her, and she was lifted off her feet, hanging behind her.
Pressing her right hand downward, a clear blue staircase appeared before White, leading up to the blue door in the sky.
"You passed."
Two words, she uttered, before turning her back and walking away with the floating Nova.
A grin appeared on White’s face as he pushed himself off the ground.
He climbed up the stairs after her, as they all disappeared through the door.
Ultimately, they had passed the test and were now eligible to join Xtremecybers.
