Legendary Oops System-Chapter 11: The Limitless Power
Massive golden claws slammed into the ground, tearing it like a knife through butter.
It towered easily over them, standing about two meters tall: a gigantic lion-like beast, but instead of fur, it had pointed iron steel, their sharpened ends gleaming with a golden light.
"A Golden Steel Lion..." Nova whispered beside him, and in the next moment.
BAAAAAANG
Its massive claw slammed down upon them with brutally crushing power.
’Oh no. Sonic roar’
The thought flashed through White’s mind, his eyes widening as he watched the lion open its maw wide.
ROOOOOOOAAAAR
A powerful roar that unleashed a sonic shockwave, slamming into both of them whilst mid-air.
BOOOOOM!
It was like a missile had connected right before White’s face as he was roughly blasted backward.
BANG!
BANG!
BANG!
Three trees in the path behind him were crushed into pieces as he slammed into their trunks, rolling a couple of meters on the ground before sliding to a stop.
Blood erupted from the scratches on his body, but his face remained cold and emotionless, turning to look forward instead.
Although he was blown away by the Lion’s Sonic roar, Nova stayed standing.
Her hands were crossed together, and an astral barrier was formed, blocking the shockwave as her hair flapped wildly.
The creature pounced towards her right after, and he watched as the barrier in her hands morphed into two spinning circular blades around her hands.
Shifting slightly to the side, the claws weaved past her face, and she slashed the blade forward.
It cleaved through the underbelly of the beast, sending it wincing in pain, but it also reacted, slamming its other massive claw forth.
She cleaved out both with both her bladed hands in response, severing the beast’s paw off.
All of a sudden,
BOOOOOM
An explosion rocked beneath both, as the astral blade in Nova’s hands exploded.
The force sent both her and the beast flying, but instead of slamming into the hard trunk of a tree as she expected, she felt herself falling into the embrace of something soft instead.
"That’s Limitless?"
White asked in awe, helping her back to her feet.
"Not even 5% of it, and the blade still exploded in the end. It’s too unstable..."
She signed with a panic-stricken and disappointed face, but then looked up at White and found him grinning.
"What?"
"It’s almost dead."
He claimed, and she turned forward, disbelief quickly clouding her expression.
The Golden Steel Lion tried its best to stand, but failed, falling repeatedly.
Not only had its right claws been cleaved off, but its entire left arm and the side of its head had been blown off from Nova losing control of her Limitless blade.
It was currently in a disastrous shape, blood oozing out from its wide-open wound.
It roared out weakly, turning back to try and escape, but Nova didn’t allow it, and this time, White’s eyes remained fixated on her next set of actions.
The crystal-clear skin on Nova’s hands quietly changed, veins lining out.
Her heart pounded, and he noticed the green veins gaining an astral light.
’Limitless Energy.’
It flowed from her heart, through her veins, exiting the tiny pores on her fingertips, before coalescing in the center of her palms.
There it slowly took shape: a simple round disk whose edges burned with Limitless energy.
It began to spin, then suddenly shot towards the Golden Steel Lion.
The target was a little off, with the blade colliding with a tree beside the lion.
But it wasn’t for naught, as the tree was sliced through, its top falling and landing right upon the beast’s head.
CRACK!
The unmistakable sound of a skull being crushed reached White, who watched as a white ball of light came surging out of the beast and flew straight into the astral watch on Nova’s hand.
The number changed from 0/1000 to 10/1000.
"So, killing a beast is the way to fill up the points, huh?"
White mused, but then he watched as a new interface appeared on Nova’s runic watch.
[You’ve Joined the Genius Rankings.]
What appeared next were names with points by their side.
A number was bolded
[Novaelia Limitless - 10/1000]
Both unconsciously turned to the top three, and their breathing paused.
[Gustavo De Mario - 40/1000]
[Allison Gevaudan - 35/1000]
[Sunless Noblesse - 35/1000]
"So fast!?"
They have been here for barely a few minutes, and someone has already gained 40 points!?
If killing a Golden Steel Lion beast rewarded 10 points, these people had managed to kill more than three of them within a couple of minutes of arriving.
At the end, there was a time frame.
[Time Left till Test End: 99: 54:09]
"We’ve got 4 days to complete the mission."
Nova recited out loud, and White hummed.
That’s four days for him to kill about 100 of these golden lions.
If they were both to work together and still pass the test, then they needed to kill a total of 200 Golden Lions in 4 days.
For White, that wasn’t a serious number.
In his past life, they didn’t call him White; they called him Madwhite.
That was because even though he was a B-grade Awakener, no B-grade Awakener could take him on, whether Psychics or Physically Enhanced.
Only A-ranks could try, and even they were wary of him.
That was how insane his power was.
But this wasn’t the past.
He had awakened a power he knew little to nothing of.
Though the Limitless Awakening was tagged to be Psychic, it was almost like a Physically Enhanced Elemental Awakening.
He needed to learn how to harness it properly, guide it through his veins, before he could use it to do anything at all.
Harnessing Astral-like Elemental Energy?
That was an aspect of power that he had zero personal experience with.
If he wanted to take down 100 Golden Lions in 4 days, then,
"Don’t worry. We’ll pass. I’ll teach you everything I know."
Nova said, pausing his thoughts.
She had noticed his knitted eyebrows, a sign of his worry.
He grinned, standing up on his feet.
"That’ll definitely help."
"Where do I begin my explanation..." Nova mused to herself, but then White shook his head.
"What?"
"I don’t really learn things with words. I’m not a... theory person."
"I learn through one way the best..." He said, and she raised a ’and what’s that’ eyebrow at him.
In response, White raised his hands, and her eyes widened, watching as green veins appeared over his skin, before they began to gain a shade of astral.
That was Limitless Energy flowing through his hands!
’He’s already begun to harness Limitless Energy!’
Nova thought in disbelief.
"I learn better watching a fight...and best when fighting, so."
"Let’s go hunting, Nova."
