Chapter 32: March Out

A while after Lukas went to sleep last night...

In his cultivation chamber, after six days, Raymond had completely brought the bloodflame energy rampaging in his body under control and had already expelled over 80% out of his body.

Now, he was in the process of expelling the remaining energy which made him relax a little.

Rumble!

However, right then, his expression changed drastically because the remaining bloodflame energy had suddenly gone out of his control.

’What the fuck is happening?!’ He cried out in his heart and hastily used his Water Elemental Mana to suppress it, however...

Boom!

Right as his Water Elemental Mana came in contact with it, it erupted into flames before exploding.

"Arrrgggghhhhhh!"

As the flames scorched his internal organs and destroyed many of his blood vessels, his face scrunched up in agony and he let out a heart wrenching scream.

"Bloodflame, you bastard!"

...

Dressed in a neat white robe with gold trimmings, Lukas left his villa, heading toward Raymond’s residence.

Oriana had woken up just as he was getting ready. Upon hearing Raymond had summoned him, she became anxious but after Lukas assured her that everything would be alright, she calmed down a little.

After giving him a tight hug and a shy peck on his lips, she allowed him to leave.

A few minutes’ leisurely walk put him in front of Raymond’s residence.

’Hm? What’s going on?’ Immediately, he noticed the air was thick with tension, the guard knights, maids and servants all looked tense, somewhat panicked even.

"Lord Viscount is waiting. Hurry inside, Young Lord." prompted one of the Knights after seeing him stand there and look around.

Nodding, Lukas entered the residence and a nervous maid led him to the main hall.

’Oh?’

He couldn’t help but be a little surprised when he saw that almost everyone of some importance in the family was here which included several real Knights, three 2-Star Mages, all of Raymond’s main wives, concubines and sons and daughters, including the illegitimate ones.

Lukas took note that everyone looked worried before looking at Raymond in the head seat and couldn’t help but raise his brows.

Raymond’s face was unusually pale and he looked drained of all energy. Not only that, he was constantly coughing like a sickly old man. Also, his expression was dark and rage could be seen clear in his now murky eyes.

’Did he fail to suppress the bloodflame energy?’ thought Lukas and glanced at Amara, who had a light smile on her face, clearly in a good mood.

Noticing his gaze, she looked over and nodded lightly in greeting. Lukas nodded back before looking at Raymond.

"Good morning, Father. May I know the reason you have called me?"

Raymond’s gaze focused on Lukas and upon seeing his confident and unhurried gait, he immediately became displeased.

"Do I need a reason to call you, you little welp?"

Lukas wasn’t unfazed and nodded, "You haven’t called me even a single time in the past eight years. Since you called me today, there must definitely be a reason."

Everyone was surprised to see him talk back to Raymond. Simone stared at him and sighed in her heart.

"You have grown balls, kid." Raymond snorted, killing intent clear in his eyes.

After what happened last night, he was in a very bad mood and didn’t care about his image. He even had the urge to jump out of his seat and kill Lukas with a single slap, but knowing that would be too excessive and would put him in trouble, he restrained himself and only snorted.

Lukas didn’t say anything in response and just stared at him in silence, his eyes locked onto his.

Raymond averted his gaze. He was afraid if he kept looking at him, he really might end up killing him.

"Miteus, inform him what’s going on."

Miteus was one of the three 2-Star mages and a middle-aged man with slightly graying hair.

"Yes, milord!" He nodded and looked over at Lukas.

"Last night, a beast tide surged out from the Crimson Valley Forest. The settlements and markets near the forest were instantly annihilated and many of the villages and towns have been destroyed. Currently, the beast tide is heading toward our city." began Mitues, "You, Robert and Mike are to lead reinforcements to the First Young Lord, Maxwell and Second Young Lord, Peter and help them defend their towns."

"A beast tide?" Lukas muttered, his eyes flickering with a grim light.

Wasn’t Raymond trying to kill him by sending him out? Even so, he had no plan to refuse the order.

"Yes," Nodded Miteus.

"When did you receive the news?" asked Lukas. His expression was calm as if he didn’t know he was being sent to his death.

"An hour ago. A messenger from Young Lord Maxwell arrived with the news. The tide surged out suddenly and all our people stationed nearby the forest and other towns had no time to send the news to us before they were slaughtered," answered Miteus, a little surprised to see him so composed. Not only him, others were similarly surprised.

Lukas nodded and further enquired, "How strong is the beast tide?’

"Most of the beasts are Tier-1 with a few Tier-2 beasts leading them. Now, there is no time to waste." answered Miteus impatiently before looking at a Knight, "Sir Henry, Sir James, take the young lords and depart immediately."

"Yes, sir!" Two Knights stood up and immediately started walking out.

Robert and Mike, the two illegitimate sons present, hurriedly followed after them under their mothers’ sorrowful gazes.

Lukas, however, didn’t do the same which made the Knights pause and Miteus and Raymond frown in displeasure.

Before anyone could say anything, he looked at Amara and asked, "Would you like to accompany me, Third Sister?"

Raymond narrowed his eyes while Rose, Amara’s mother, and others raised their brows, wondering why he was inviting her.

"Tch! What a cowardly guy! You want the Third Sister to put her life in danger so you can stay safe. How insidious!"

Lukas acted as if he hadn’t heard him, his gaze focused on Amara.

Amara was also looking at him, her brows furrowed.

She looked at Raymond. Although he seemed to have been injured, she wasn’t sure if he would let her go.

After thinking for a moment, she nodded and stood up, "Sure, I’ll accompany you. I also want to contribute as much as I can in defending our people."

"Amara...!" Rose called out, wanting to stop her but Amara ignored her and looked at Raymond, "I am willing to go to the battlefield and help Fourth Brother in dealing with the beast tide. My life and death will be up to fate. Please give me permission to go, Lord Viscount."

Raymond’s face darkened and after staring at her with narrowed eyes for a few moments, he coldly snorted, "Go then."

...

Half an hour later, a large number of trainee Knights marched out of Neera city, following True Knights, Henry and James.

Robert and Mike were following James and were heading to help Second Young Lord, Peter, while Lukas and Amara, following Henry, were heading toward the town First Young Lord, Maxwell was defending.

Riding on the horses behind Knight Henry, Lukas glanced at Amara. She was dressed in ocean blue cloth armor, skin tight black leather pants and had a sword strapped on her waist, looking very beautiful and heroic.

Feeling his admiring gaze, Amara glanced over and their gazes met.

"Do you have any assurance of coming back alive or did you invite me because you wanted me to accompany you in death?" asked Amara with narrowed eyes.
