Chapter 339: Tangning moves fast.

In the middle of the night, when Jun Meilin was sleeping, the lock of her bedroom door turned and someone entered. The light turned itself on automatically and it was what woke her. She smelled Jingzhe before seeing him.

Slowly, she raised herself, blinking and wincing because the soft light felt harsh to the eyes which had been relaxed only seconds ago.

Her nostrils flared and twitched as the smell of blood reached them.

Suddenly, she was fully awake and more alert. Throwing off the covers of the bed, she rushed to Jingzhe. "A Zhe, why do you smell like blood?" She grabbed his hands and saw that the right one was wrapped in a white bandage.

She could see some traces of red which directly answered the question why he smelled like blood.

Her eyes widened. "What happened? Didn’t you just go to dig for a treasure in a mountain? Did the stones cut you? Did you get into a fight with the mountain rangers? Who did this to you?"

"I just opened a chest a little too enthusiastically." He told her." And then he leaned into her for a hug and said in a weak voice. "Sister, you won’t hate me just because I have an ugly scar on my hand, will you?"

She rolled her her eyes. "With all the technology we have for scar removal, only people that want to have scars will have them. Now sit down and let me check your wound."

He backed up to the bed and sat down carefully, still holding her.

She hissed at him, slapped him on the back lightly and forced him to release her. As soon as she was free, she found the first aid box and then removed the bandage around his hand.

Immediately, she noticed that the wound on his palm had already been treated. It was a line in the middle which looked like he had been sliced by a knife. But all that remained was a long light scar.

"Ha! Feng Jingzhe, so you have been hoodwinking me?" She glared at him.

He giggled softly. "Sister...."

She hissed and he quickly kissed her on the forehead. "Sister, the wound may have been treated but the pain I felt when I was cut was very real. I was also in pain when I was being treated. And I was in more pain when they seared the area to make it close faster."

She snorted.

Jingzhe kissed her again and this time it was on the lips. "Sister, if I kiss you a few times, will you forgive me for lying? I am willing to be punished as long as you punish me with your lips and hands."

She rolled her eyes. He was using his coquettish voice and looking at her with seductive eyes.

Jingzhe puckered and kissed her again and again and again. Mei Mei became more affectionate and she pushed him down, kissing him more affectionately. She even wrapped her body around him a snake trying to squeeze him to death.

Only thirty minutes later did she realize that he had kissed his way out of trouble.

"Male vixen." She mumbled. "You only know how to seduce me with your pretty face all the time."

She promised herself that she would get even in the morning.

In the morning, at exactly 5:58, Jun Mingzhe who had spent another night at his sister’s house stepped out of the gate in his running outfit. He jogged in one place until his smart watch alerted him that it was 6:00 a.m and he took off.

At exactly, 6:45, Tangning slipped under a lamppost and Mingzhe caught her.

As he helped her back on her feet, he noticed the book in her hands. It was titled, "I think, therefore I regret."

Mingzhe’s eyes lit up. He stood next to Tangning glancing at the book. "Chapter three is the best, you do not often get to read about the flaws of a famous scientist. Many of them just show off their results and not what lays behind the golden curtain."

The book had been written by a world famous doctor who made some great breakthroughs in the medical field. It was filled with his regrets, mistakes he made and ghosts of those who died in his human trials.

"I think Chapter twelve is the best." Tangning looked up and smiled at him. "Chapter three is all about his miscalculations and ego disguised as regrets."

Mingzhe blinked. "Wow, I am amazed. Most people do not understand that."

"I am not most people." Tangning replied.

Mingzhe studied her for a long moment. "It would seem not."

"Now Chapter nine is where he really gets honest and I think it is because he aged and received a letter from one the children of his patients that died in the human trials for finding a cure for thyroid cancer." Tangning said.

"There was a letter!" Mingzhe exclaimed.

Tangning started to walk and he joined her. He wanted to know who wrote the letter and how she knew about it. They argued softly about the book, ethics and moral ambiguity. He got so caught up in the debate that he did not realize that they had reached Mei Mei’s house.

When he did, he hesitated to go inside. "What makes a woman like you read a book like this?"

Tangning replied slowly, "Have you ever tried to write a song?"

He nodded. "I will admit before further questions are asked. I am not the best song writer. Music is like poetry, it needs to flow smoothly like breathing. I am a man that times his breath, smooth does not become me."

Tangning shrugged, "I don’t know about that. I have seen you with weapons and on a crime scene. You are smooth when you are doing what you love." She tapped the book. "As for me and this book. Writing a song is kind of like scientific research. A good song can heal a hurting hurt. But just because it is a good song, does not mean you should sing it or release it to the public. I could go on into a deeper explanation but we are out of time. I have a schedule and I must keep to it."

Mingzhe looked at his watch. It was 7:03 and he was behind his regular schedule.

"Have you ever read a book titled: Relativity and Relatives?" She asked him.

He looked up and shook his head. "Is that a real book?"

She nodded. "Oh yes. I picked it up on tour in Spain. It is in the local language but I found a translated copy in a small bookshop. It is something to do with time dilation, I am certain that you would enjoy it. Maybe I will lend it to you the next time I see you on a morning run." She saluted playfully. "Good day Commander."

Tangning run off, entered her gate and dashed into her house and sunk to floor because her trembling legs could no longer support her.

Mingzhe stood where she left him, searching the internet for the book she had mentioned. As he pocketed his phone, he glance at Tangning’s door once before moving on.
