Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 330: A fugitive hunt.
There was another place where people were not watching Whiskers 10. It was the tunnels in E city where technology was banned in a closed off community. The very place where Mo Wenbin had run off to.
The people that lived there were preparing to go to bed when Imperial soldiers and SWAT invaded like angry bears. Their drones buzzed in the air like swarms of deranged wasps and ten Imperial dogs kicked up dust as they raced into the tunnels, growling and kicking up dirt.
"This is a fugitive hunt, everyone should stay in place and wait to be identified. We will simply take the person we seek and leave the rest of you in peace. Be warned, all resistance will be met with force." A voice from a drone warned.
This fugitive hunt was for Mo Wenbin. He was not considered an average criminal but a slippery criminal mastermind that had aided many in a life of crime. When the police learned of his escape, they added him to the list of fugitives in the empire.
Intel had come in an hour ago that he was hiding in this underground town and he was either in the network of tunnels or the farmsteads.
SWAT Officer Tu Ruiqi was scrolling through a tablet with a list of thirty members of this underground society who were criminals--two of whom were on the national most wanted list and one on an international one.
"You know they worship some kind of lizard deity down here." he told another officer.
"Not the time Ruiqi." The other one said.
Tu Ruiqi laughed. "Watch out for lizard in the beetroots and pumpkin field."
"Let’s begin, the commanding officer of SWAT, Nie Linying bellowed." She was a woman with strong fists and mean eyes.
Her legs could run without every getting tired and there was a rumor that she had not blinked since birth.
As they forged forward, most of the officers were stunned by what they found as many had never been in the underground tunnels. The residents had built houses out of wood and metals. One tunnel was a community kitchen with clay ovens and it was well stocked with all kinds of food. Anyone could just walk up and take what they needed. Apparently, theft and greed did not exist in the underground town.
Some tunnels were actually farms and fruits were somehow growing underground. The most amazing thing was that aside from barter trade, the residents had created s currency of their own. Copper coins which had the face of a lizard that six claws.
When they came out of the tunnels, they found large farms which were healthy and enclosed, keeping the rest of the world out.
Some people were meditating in the fields, children were singing around a camp fire. Fireflies in jars were hanging on ropes tied to trees. It was actually beautiful.
However, the smell was not pleasant. The tunnels and farms reeked of compost and rotting roots. Some of the residents were thin and sickly looking. Their clothes were a little over patched. Some of the children looked stunted, like they lacked proper nutrition.
A group of dogs barked loudly in a distance and a scare crow fell to the ground.
"Target acquired." Nie Linying announced.
Mo Wenbin was dragged out of a field, mostly naked. a crown of leaves sat on his head and more leaves were tied around around his waist. He looked like a man dragged out of the stone age era.
Even the residents of the underground town were surprised to see him. They were against technology not clothes!
Some covered the eyes of their children and someone shouted, "At least cover his ass."
The dogs nipped at Mo Liang’s heels with tails wagging excitedly. Whenever they caught a criminal, they feasted like kings and they knew they would eat well that night.
Reinforcements arrived in the tunnel and the officers started searching the residents for any other criminals hiding within the community. In the kitchen, they opened some barrels and stumbled on a criminal jackpot.
First was Lang Shun, a beekeeper who used to rob houses using bees as a weapon. He would walk inside while covered up from head to toe and release killer bees. As the residents got stung and run for help, he would clean out cash and jewelry and then drive off.
By the time he vanished, he had left five bodies and stolen things worth one and a half billion yuan.
"I will be damned, we found The bee keeper." One officer laughed.
But it got better as they discovered an unusual criminal, the oldest most wanted criminal in the empire. It was grandma Anran who knitted sweaters for the community. She was a notorious car thief who stole antique cars worth millions of yuan.
She used to do the job with her son and daughter. They had been arrested six years ago but she got away. Since then, she had been living in the underground community.
Nie Linying laughed a lot when she put the cuffs around the old woman. "They say your legs are faster than wind, one of these days, we should compete."
Grandma Anran scoffed. She wondered if she could get her hands on a car and escape. She was only 154 years old and she believed that she still had it in her to race.
Finally, Jerry Coyote who was number eight on the International most wanted list of criminals. He was a counterfeiter, murderer and human trafficker. The Imperial soldiers cuffed him with a gleam of excitement in their eyes. They could already see international press all over this. They would earn a fat bonus.
In total, fifty six arrests were made, stunning the officers and the residents of the underground community.
Nie Linying shook her head as she faced the leader of this underground town. "I am afraid that it is going to be a little difficult for you to keep your home. When the news breaks, this will be seen as a hub of criminals rather than a community. You might all be considered accomplices that were involved in hiding these criminals." She handed him a card. "This is a legally approved sanctuary which supports the technology life style you want to live. It is supported by some noble families and the Empress Mother.
You can go there on there own or we can bring buses to take you there. I hope that you will go voluntarily because this place is now a crime scene. We must search and investigate it to find any proof of crime which was hidden here. Whether you want to or not, you cannot stay."
It took one hour to convince them and even more hours for them to be moved.
At around 5:00 a.m, the cold prison received a new prisoner. At the same time, morning newspapers were being distributed and pictures of the underground town graced the covers of some.
"NAKED LIZARD TERRORIST TAKEN DOWN," blared Phoenix news. A huge picture of Mo Wenbin in handcuffs being brought out of the field was right below that headline.
It was the first thing Jun Meilin saw in the morning.
