Chapter 273: The wild vs Meow Meow.

Mei Mei returned home to a calm house. No relatives poking around, no idlers peeking into house, with the exception of Tangning that was outside, watering her front garden for the first time ever since Mei Mei moved in.

"Meilin." Tangning, called and waved to her like they were old friends.

Mei Mei winced and walked towards the short fence that separated her house from Tangning’s. "Hi, Tangning."

Tangning’s eyes peered behind Mei Mei as if she expected to see someone else.

"He is not here." Mei Mei said.

Tangning blushed. "Who said that I was looking for the Imperial commander? I was not looking for him at all. Don’t listen to gossip, I definitely don’t have a crush on him. I don’t like him, I swear I don’t." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Mei Mei nodded. This was one of those ’the lady doth protest too much’ situations. Tangning’s denials were one too many and uncalled for.

"I just wanted to congratulate you on your new relationship. The Feng’s are good people." Tangning said.

Mei Mei smiled. "Thank you." She tilted her head as she contemplated briefly before giving Tangning some advise. "My brother is very handsome, very attractive and the dream lover for many women in the empire for many different reasons. But, he is clean.

I have never seen him dating or heard about him having an ex girlfriend or crush. I won’t stop you from liking him but I will give you some advise. If you approach a few times and he does not respond as you expect, withdraw before you lose your mind and break your own heart."

Tangning’s smile trembled. "Thanks for the advise."

Mei Mei nodded. "Come over if you need anything at anytime."

They both walked away. Mei Mei was sighing and Tangning had hunched shoulders.

"She won’t take your advise, they never do." Assistant Han said.

Mei Mei turned her head back and watched Tangning enter her house. "Leave it up to my brother to break a heart without even dating the woman."

She had seen many women like Tangning. Even some of her employees had fallen victim to her brother’s looks and charm. But Mingzhe had never given any of them a second look.

What kind of woman would make her brother turn his head?

She was thinking about this when she entered the house and almost stepped on Go Go Squid!!

"This is becoming ridiculous." She mumbled as she picked up the tortoise and returned him to his indoor habitat. She moved very carefully to avoid stepping on anything else.

She was backing away from the habitat when Meow Meow landed on her shoulders, squeaking loudly and pointing to the new addition to their home. An indoor tree that was Tofu’s home.

"We are living in the wild. How can you do this to me? I demand that the owl be taken back to wherever she was picked from." Meow Meow protested.

Mei Mei replied. "Do you want to play with the tree. Ah, no...you want to play with Tofu."

Meow Meow rolled her eyes. "Who wants to play with that wide eyed thing?"

Assistant Han saw it and almost tripped over Mrs. Strawberry. She hardly paid attention to the wolf cub, all of her attention was on the bat. Yes, it was a professional actress but roiling eyes! When did bats start rolling eyes? The bat was too abnormal.

Meow Meow flew away from Mei Mei, went out of the window and paid a visit to the house next door where Jun Yi was. Perhaps she would understand the problem. The wild needed to be taken back. Owls and leeches were not welcome in the house.

Mei Mei made it to her bedroom, animal free. She found Mingzhu inside. The little one was laying on her bed, playing with her tablet. She had smart glasses over her eyes and her feet were in the air. That was her gaming position.

"Again with the mismatched socks." Mei Mei muttered. If Mingzhu’s eyes had not been checked by a licensed optician, Mei Mei would have thought that her daughter was color blind.

She did not bother with them. Instead, she removed the glasses from Mingzhu’s eyes and took the tablet. Mingzhu’s gaming time had been logged in: 2 hours!

"Two hours Mingzhu!!" She exclaimed.

Mingzhu pouted. Every time her mother handed her the tablet it was for studying. Gaming time was only thirty minutes on school days and one hour in holidays. And the one hour had to be broken down through the day, ten minutes per session.

Mei Mei heard a cat’s cry and she stared sharply at her daughter. "Is that Noodles or one of her babies? I said no pets in my bedroom."

Mingzhu decided to solve the trouble by hugging her mother and acting cute. "Mommy, you look tired. Let me energize you with a hug and a kiss." She kissed her mother on the cheek very loudly.

"You are not getting off easy young lady." Mei Mei responded. She picked up the tablet and logged onto a site where a children were being taught English pronunciations. "Didn’t you say that you wanted to speak better English than Lian. You need to practice more."

Mingzhu fell back on the bed lazily. It was a holiday! Who liked reading in the holiday?

Mei Mei left Mingzhu on the bed, loudly repeating after the teacher. They were naming fruits and animals. "Louder." She shouted to her. "I cannot hear you in the bathroom."

Mingzhu moved to the door of the bathroom and continued to shout the words loudly.

When mother and daughter came out of the bedroom, they had dinner and she put Mingzhu to bed before sleeping off as well in the same bed.

At Space M, meanwhile Mo Ai and others were having a very sleepless night. Even though the company was facing financial turbulence they still had one chance to turn things around. That chance was the Empress’s visit to their space company tomorrow.

It was supposed to be the first stop on her journey to approving companies in the empire that were technologically conscious. Rumor had it that she was seeking for companies to recommend to the the public and offer support.

The Mo’s were certain that if they got her stamp of approval, they would be able to survive to survive the suppression of the Jun’s.

The showroom had been turned into a jungle. LED screens were covered in flowers. All the holograms were sharing messages of gratitude to the earth or recycling. The AI brain of the space ship was whispering motivational phrases.

Usually, Space M spaceships housed two jellyfish. To show their support for nature, they had tripled the number. So many people were working on a single space ship that nobody noticed that not everyone belonged there.
