Mei Mei thought she would be the first to arrive at the space camp.

She was wrong.

A line of very excited people was standing outside the gates. Cars were also lined up and they went all the way to the road, causing unexpected traffic. The cause of all the traffic was simple.

All the new eateries opening in the park. Fifty percent of the people in the line were not even planning to stick around and enjoy other amenities. They were just there to buy snacks, fill their stomachs and be on their way.

After Mei Mei went inside, twenty police cars drove into the space camp. They were expecting trouble to arrive. Police Chief Xia Qingye that was in charge of the district was still in bed. None the less, she gave a call to swat and also alerted the Imperial Command.

All law enforcement departments were still on high alert after the attempted assassination of the Empress. Jun Meilin was close to the royal family and rumor had it that some important nobles would be at the camp. It was best to be prepared than caught off guard.

In the camp, all of the staff had already arrived. The staff of the eateries that were being opened were also on ground, sweating away in the kitchens as they prepared for the openings. As they had all decided to open on the same day, competition to be the sales champion was high.

Mei Mei did not rest, as soon as she arrived she strode across her space kingdom with the confident clip-clop of her sharp ankle boots designed for fashion and attention. She was taking a grand tour of the eateries before the official opening.

Trailing her like kittens were four department heads, assistant Han and her sleepy boyfriend Jingzhe.

"Juan tea." Assistant Han announced, stopping by the first eatery near the entrance into the camp.

The manager of this branch and all three branches opened on the grounds of the space camp was Sally. Mei Mei was familiar with the woman. Over the years, she had sneaked around and visited Mingzhu. She was the reason why Mingzhu talked about herself in third person sometimes.

"Aunt Sally." Mei Mei smiled.

Sally hugged her. "I cannot believe that you are Sally’s boss now." She stretched her hand and took a sparkly pink cup which was stuffed with strawberries and liquid chocolate. A small umbrella and spoon were peeking on the different sides. "We are calling this strawberry-chocolate sauce tea. Options are nuts, marshmallows, coconut flakes and sea salt flakes."

Mei Mei looked at it and looked at Sally with a frown. "But it is not tea."

Sally shrugged. "And this is not a tea shop. If we call it tea, it is tea. But don’t worry, we have other teas that we are warming so we will be able to afford your rent. Each branch has two new tea flavors so altogether they are six. All of them are milk teas so I know you will love them. Do you want to try one?"

Mei Mei chose the choco-chili charm tea. It was rich chocolate milk with warm spice and cinnamon. It came with a straw that was as bright as fireworks.

She took one sip and turned to Jingzhe.

"For my sweet pup." She shoved the cup into his hands.

Jingzhe smiled and curled his toes. She was claiming in public!!! It was the first time she was acknowledging him in front of the employees.

He took the cup and took a sip and then he hissed. But then his eyes widened and he took another.

"This is actually nice. Is it roasted....smoked? I can taste a flavor."

Sally nodded proudly. The secret was that the cocoa beans were roasted over fire. The other secret was related to the chilli spice. She had no plans of sharing these secrets.

Mei Mei took the cup of tea from his hands and handed him the strawberry-chocolate sauce tea. She fed him carefully.

Jingzhe’s face did a double-take. "Mei Mei, this is nice. It has a nice kick."

Mei Mei wiped the corner of his mouth. "If you like it, I will buy you a cup everyday."

Behind them, the staff exchanged eyerolls. Only assistant Han remained stoic as she watched the couple.

"Next!" Mei Mei shouted.

She bid Sally goodbye and they marched forward. They found a Tao foods eatery. In front of the counter and outside was a cut out of Tao Xiaotong, the youngest and richest professional chef in the empire.

She herself was inside, behind the counter, shouting orders like the captain of a ship. Assistant Han cleared her throat and Tao Xiaotong climbed on a stool so that she could be as tall as the adults.

"Mommy, have you come for an inspection?"

Some employees peeked from the window in the kitchen, expecting to see one of their bosses. Instead, they saw Jun Meilin.

Tao Xiaotong presented her pancakes, new gigantic crepes and heart shaped waffles.

Mei Mei turned to Jingzhe and she smiled so sweetly like honey and sugar mixed together. "Baby...ahhh."

Jingzhe opened up and the waffle entered his mouth. He was already reading too much into the waffle. Because it was shaped like a waffle, she was giving him her heart.

He chewed slowly, nodding. "This tastes like a movie night snack!" he exclaimed.

Tao Xiaotong and one of the bakers high-fived.

"I told you that I am a genius." She screamed. Excitedly, she looked at Mei Mei and added, "Mom, that is exactly what I was going for. It is called the movie night crunch waffle. I am now a five star junior chef champion in the game thanks to this waffle."

Mei Mei took a bite of the waffle and her eyes widened. It tasted like caramel popcorn, pretzels and chips. How had Tao Xiaotong managed to combine all those flavors perfectly?

Tao Xiaotong gave Jingzhe that ’I am watching you signal’ with her small fingers. She was not going to lose to Huaqi.

When they were out of Tao foods zone, assistant Han said to Mei Mei in a serious voice, "We need to talk about Tao foods."
