Chapter 373: The Injustice Is Finally Cleared

"These people are all connected to spies, wasting China’s resources. They must be feeling pleased with themselves," Su Hongchen reminded everyone around him.

Upon hearing this, everyone immediately nodded in agreement, "Yes! We must thoroughly investigate these people and find out why they betrayed the organization."

"We need to transport this steel back to the city immediately. It’s critical evidence. Plus, with the big commotion we’ve already made in retrieving this material, we should round up all the suspects on the list overnight, just to be safe," Su Hongchen said seriously.

The officers around him quickly agreed, nodding firmly, "Yes, we need to go and arrest them right away, leaving no chance for anyone to escape."

The trucks soon returned to the public security headquarters, and the team split into several groups to make arrests. The individuals involved in this case were all caught while they were still in bed, apprehended efficiently by the National Security Office officers.

Many of the suspects initially thought their homes were being robbed, but they were quickly silenced and restrained before they could make a sound.

When questioned, none of them could provide any useful information, including Wan Hongfa, who maintained an innocent demeanor. If not for the fact that Jiang Yexun had already extracted everything he needed from them, it would have been hard to believe Wan Hongfa had any connection to the spies or that he had conspired against others.

However, the officers had been through this process countless times and knew the procedure well. Even though the initial questioning yielded nothing, they weren’t discouraged. They left some officers to guard the suspects and headed home to rest.

Su Hongchen, however, stayed behind, listening to each interrogation one by one, which meant he was the last to leave.

By the time he had heard all the useless lies from the suspects, it was already five in the morning. When he finally returned home, the clock had crept past 5:30.

Since he had told his parents that he was on a mission, Mrs. Su and Mr. Su had been on edge all night, afraid something unexpected had happened to him.

Hearing movement at the door, the two immediately got up and hurried out to check. Seeing their son looking a bit tired but with a goofy smile on his face, they knew something was up.

Without giving him a chance to speak, Mr. Su and Mrs. Su gasped, covering their mouths in disbelief.

"Does this mean there’s good news? Can your father’s name finally be cleared?" Mrs. Su asked, her voice trembling with hope.

"Yes! We’ve caught the culprits. Now we just need to break them during interrogation, and they’ll confess everything," Su Hongchen replied excitedly.

Mr. Su, usually so strong, finally let down his guard, revealing his vulnerability. He laughed through his tears, bending over and supporting himself on his knees, taking several deep breaths. When he straightened up again, his eyes were filled with a new determination.

"When you interrogate them again, can I come along?" Mr. Su asked, his eyes full of expectation. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Although it was indeed a matter that required confidential investigation, as the primary victim, Mr. Su wasn’t someone they needed to hide things from. After giving it some thought, Su Hongchen responded, "I’ll need to request permission first, but I don’t think there will be any issue."

Hearing this, Mr. Su’s grin spread even wider, nearly reaching his ears.

Su Hongchen added, "It was Jiang Yexun who found these people and got the information out of them. But it was also Shuyu who guessed where they dumped the steel, which saved us a lot of time."

"Yexun and Xingzhi have worked hard these past few days. Let’s invite them over for a good meal tonight," Mrs. Su said gently, smiling warmly.
