"Maybe… it's Selective Amnesia…"

Dr. Calvin's words were like a massive bomb that just exploded in front of her. Is fate playing with her? How could this happen to them?

After fixing everything between them, Cain would just suddenly forget her? How cruel fate could be by doing this to them… especially to her?

Kimmy froze in her spot, lowering her gaze to hide the pain and sadness in her eyes. She clenched her fists, trying to hold her tears.

'Is this my punishment for running away in the past? For leaving Cain as he faced all the humiliation when his bride ran away?' Kimmy felt like she didn't have the right to complain after what she had done to him in the past.

Leila, Daniel, and Dr. Calvin exchanged glances with one another. The atmosphere inside the ward became gloomy. They looked worriedly at Kimmy.

"Let me run some tests first. Don't worry too much. Dr. Cain's amnesia might only be temporary." Dr. Calvin tried his best to console Kimmy.

Kimmy raised her head, a sudden ray of hope in her tear-reddened eyes popping up when she heard it.

Cain was stealing glances at Kimmy with an unreadable expression. His brows creased with worry for a moment, then it disappeared right away. His gaze fell on her hands, briefly studying her fingers.

A cold glint flickered on his eyes when he didn't see the object he was looking for.

Amidst the silent atmosphere inside the ward, Dr. Calvin walked over to approach Cain to check his vitals. He also called a nurse to bring a wheelchair to examine his brain through the CT scan.

He needed to properly diagnose Cain to find out the main cause of his selective amnesia. He just hoped that the surgery last night had nothing to do with this.

When the nurse came, Dr. Calvin and Cain left the ward together with the nurse for his brain CT scan. 𝐟𝓇ℯ𝒆we𝒃𝘯𝒐νe𝑙.co𝚖

Daniel and Leila immediately comforted Kimmy as they waited for Cain.

"Don't worry too much, Kimmy. Cain will remember you. He has to." Daniel said softly, squeezing her hand.

Kimmy sat down as she tried to gather her emotions. She felt like her energy was drained and she felt so tired both from stress and worrying about Cain.

"Kimmy, my dear, just be strong. The most important thing is that Cain was safe."

Kimmy nodded her head, masking her sadness with a faint smile. She didn't want to look pitiful in front of her mother and Uncle Daniel.

"Mom, Uncle, thank you for comforting me. You are right. Cain is safe! That's the most important thing…" she paused for a moment, glancing at the door where Cain and Dr. Calvin passed through a while ago.

"Even if he doesn't remember me now… I will do my best to make him remember me! If he still can't recall those moments he spent with me in the past… then I will have to make new memories with him!" Kimmy declared to them with so much determination in her eyes.

Leila and Daniel felt relieved seeing how Kimmy wanted to do all she could to make Cain remember her. They could sense that Kimmy already loved Cain for real.

There was a faint glow in Kimmy's eyes as she thought about Cain. 'This time I have to make it up for him. This is my chance to prove how much I love him. I have to be patient and wait for the time he will remember me… This is just a challenge for us. I hope he won't have a change of heart now that he can't remember me.'

Meanwhile, in the CT Scan room, Cain was now talking to Dr. Calvin. It looked like they had a very serious conversation as Dr. Calvin looked at Cain with disbelief.

"WHAT?! Dr. Lewis… You can remember everything?! You don't have amnesia… then why did you tell us that you couldn't remember Princess Kimberly? Are you for real?! She said she was your fiancé! Your wife-to-be!"

Cain smiled like a fool when he heard the words 'Fiancé' and 'Wife-to-be'. Indeed! Kimmy introduced herself as his fiancé. But Cain wanted to play a prank on Kimmy the moment he didn't see the ring on her finger.

He felt upset about that. He was also triggered by his nightmare wherein Kimmy ran away again during their wedding. He was truly traumatized by that incident.

He thought he had already moved on as they had already fixed everything and started over again. But deep inside, he still had a fear that Kimmy might leave him once she changed her mind.

With that thought in mind, Cain acted childishly a while ago, faking his amnesia. When he saw Kimmy's sad expression, he had the urge to tell her the truth and comfort her. But he resisted it and acted stubbornly. He wanted to test Kimmy.

"I have my reason for doing this. Just don't tell this to my family, especially Kimmy. Play along with me and help me convince them that I have amnesia. I will fire you if any words about this get out. You and I are the only people who know about this." Cain threatened him.

Dr. Calvin could only scratch his face while bobbing his head. He agreed with Cain's request, but he looked suspiciously at him.

"Ahem, did you and your fiancé fight before the accident?" Dr. Calvin asked Cain curiously. He still couldn't believe that Cain was doing this. He already felt sorry for Kimmy. She looked so sad and disheartened when Cain pretended not to know her.

"Don't ask… It's my private life. Just cooperate with me, okay? I will double your salary this month if you perform well." Cain offered him, smiling playfully.

"Yes, Sir. I will do that. You are the boss!" Dr. Calvin promptly responded while shaking his head helplessly.

"Good. Now, give me a nice and convincing diagnosis."

Cain smirked and his eyes gleamed with excitement. He wanted to know how Kimmy would act towards him after this. It was a gamble on his part. He was also nervous but he wanted to test Kimmy and her feelings for him through this.
