Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor-Chapter 1820: The Winner & Three Methods
Hundunxi felt a chill down his spine. His intuition told him this man had the mind and capability to achieve what he said. With his strategic mind and his willpower, he would probably not hesitate to sacrifice all life in the multiverse to achieve his goal. Grand Dao probably has other plans to make him bend, but would those work? Hundunxi started to doubt.
"The more reason you should die today," he replied after exhaling deeply.
"You can’t kill me."
"Human, you’re too cocky," Hundunxi sneered as he attacked with even more fervor. After realizing how great a threat Wang Wei posed, his desire to eliminate him increased dramatically. Unfortunately, Wang Wei was correct: the Chaos Demon God could not kill him with the current power he possessed.
Time passed:
Three Days...
One month...
Half a year...
An entire year of constant battle, but the stalemate continued. A few times, Hundunxi used some truly powerful techniques that nearly killed Wang Wei. However, as long as the latter survived the first attack, the next one would become less effective. In this single year, Wang Wei used his opponent as nourishment to grow his power.
Boom!
The two clashed once more. Hundunxi expected to overwhelm his opponent, but he was wrong. Wang Wei only took three steps backward. The worst part is that Hundunxi took a half step back. His expression was grave. He previously predicted the latter would need at least 10 years to reach his level, but based on this level of improvement, he’ll probably only need another 4 years.
"Can we talk now?" Wang Wei calmly asked.
Hundunxi exhaled, "What do you want?"
"As I said, I’m willing to forfeit this battle."
"Pangu sacrificed so much to help you, and you’re just giving up so easily?"
"Yes."
"Why? Don’t you humans always talk about virtues and being grateful?"
"Because he schemed against me," Wang Wei replied. "I don’t know whether he was the one who helped me or not. What I do know is that his power was the key to this grand plan to ruin me. Even if his actions at the last minute saved me, he still put my life in danger. For that alone, I could consider him my eternal enemy, let alone just forfeiting this battle."
Hundunxi squinted. "Humans are truly a despicable race whose existence is a danger to Heaven and Earth."
Wang Wei did not comment. Pangu almost destroyed the Chaos Universe, and the Chaos Demon Gods — most likely Hundunxi — did something that forced Grand Dao to lock them in a terrifying prison for countless eras. So, this hypocrite was the last person who should be commenting on the human race.
"What do you want?" Hundunxi asked. Victory was crucial to him. With the current situation of this battle, it’s only a matter of time before Wang Wei’s strength catches up and surpasses him. Although Wang Wei won’t be able to kill him, the chances of victory will dwindle the longer this battle goes on.
"Lin Fan’s death."
"Impossible."
"What? Already attached? You need to consider the greater picture," Wang Wei sneered.
"Lin Fan cannot die. If that’s your only demand, this negotiation is over."
Wang Wei frowned. The danger he sensed was rapidly approaching. According to his calculation, it won’t be long before the expedition begins its attack on the Heaven Splitting Holy Land. The upcoming chaos is the perfect opportunity to escape and start his revenge plan. And he can’t do that if he’s locked in a battle with this Chaos Demon God. However, his killing intent toward Lin Fan hadn’t reduced.
"Fine," Wang Wei said, controlling his emotion. "I need a binding contract that you will send me out of this battlefield." His current greatest concern is that this place will become a prison. And since he couldn’t even activate his Saint-tier Void Breaking Talisman, he might not be able to leave this place alive.
"Very well." Hudunxi agreed. Squeezing out a drop of his essence blood, he drew a blood oath.
"Are you kidding?" Wang Wei sneered as he glanced at the agreement. "Do you think I would fall for such an obvious ploy? Add your counterpart’s Fatal Flaw into the agreement."
"You!"
Wang Wei glanced at him with a mocking look. Saints are in the process of transcending or detaching themselves from the Chaos Universe and all the fundamental concepts of its creation. In the primordial timeline, the incomplete detachment of Saint manifests as [Time Nexus]. Because they haven’t completely transcended time, they can be killed at a very specific moment in their history.
Meanwhile, the Saint of the Chaos Origin Realm experienced the manifestation of incomplete detachment through the concept of death rather than time. As a result, they don’t have Time Nexus — they have Fatal Flaws. All the saints of this world must be killed in an individual and unique ritual; without deducing the ritual, they are eternal.
Wang Wei has already theorized that Hundunxi was about to absorb the Primordial Chaos Force to recuperate his injury. If this bastard can switch to the persona of his alternate self, he probably won’t have any [Time Nexus] and can ignore the backlash from the binding oath.
"You always criticize humans for our foolish behavior, but you act no differently. I’m a hypocrite, but at least I recognize and know who I am. But you?" The disdain in Wang Wei’s voice was so thick that it almost drove Hundunxi over the edge. Luckily, this old monster still knew how to control himself, especially knowing what was at stake.
Hundunxi rewrote the oath, and Wang Wei reviewed it. There was another problem: Hundunxi wanted to control the time for the release. Wang Wei couldn’t accept this; after all, his life would be in danger if this Chaos Demon God chose to release him after he had received it. Although the agreement includes numerous clauses prohibiting harm to each other, there are still some limits and ways around them. However, after debating for a few seconds, they both realized they were waiting for the chaos outside to make their move. With this understanding, they soon came up with terms that were acceptable to both parties.
Wang Wei went to meditate a few million light-years away, while Hundunxi returned control over the body to Lin Fan. Gazing in the distance, the Absolute Chaos Emperor sighed to himself: things have become complicated. No one can sleep peacefully knowing such a terrifying opponent wants them dead.
"Don’t you have anything to say?"
"No," Hundunxi replied calmly.
"Where is my explanation?" Lin Fan roared.
"I don’t owe you an explanation. We are all pawns in this game, some just more valuable than others."
"You!"
"Don’t humans have a saying that there are no free lunches in the world? What do you think the consequences would be for having such a high karmic connection to a Saint? Do you think you wouldn’t pay a price for all the benefits I’ve granted you?"
Lin Fan stood in a daze. Of course, he knew there would be a karmic price for his relationship with Hundunxi. However, he thought it would only manifest once the latter tried to take its revenge on Pangu and Hongjun. He never thought things would escalate to such a degree during a simple expedition.
"Fine," Lin Fan sighed; he accepted this cause and effect. "Can you tell me about my Dao Path?"
Hundunxi was silent.
"You got me into this mess, now, you won’t even explain the situation?"
The Primordial Chaos Demon God sighed. "The good news is this scheme was not against you, so you still have a chance."
"The bad news?"
"You’re too corrupted. In the future, you’ll only be able to condense the lowest 150 Heavenly Pulse Foundation."
"What? You might as well have killed me."
"There are fewer than 20 Grand Dao Saints throughout the entire multiverse. Even if you’re the weakest, you’re still a third-step powerhouse," Hundunxi comforted.
"Now, there are only 20. But with the advent of the Transcendent Era, there will probably be hundreds of them," Lin Fan yelped.
"You would still be one of the most powerful beings in the universe."
"Is there a way to solve the issue?"
"..."
"Well, is there?"
"Not solve, but alleviate."
"Quickly tell me."
"I’m afraid none of them are possible for you."
"Tell me, and I’ll decide," Lin Fan said, his determination unwavering.
"There are three methods I can think of," Hundunxi explained. "The first one is to condense the Transcendent Foundation. If you have 13 pillars and 81 Earth veins, you can probably condense more than 300 Heavenly Pulses, maybe even all 360.
"Unfortunately for you, you’ve missed the best window for the 13th pillar, and with only 81 veins, you can only condense more than 200 pulses."
Lin Fan clenched his fists. "What’s the second?"
"You need to dual cultivate with another third-step powerhouse that has a deep karmic connection with you, and also cultivate Chaos Dao. The best approach is to use both methods 1 and 2. Unfortunately, the other person involved will have their foundation negatively affected."
"No, I can’t ask Shi’er to sacrifice her future for mine. She has suffered enough."
"That’s why I said you have no choice."
"What’s the last method?"
"Reincarnation," Hundunxi revealed. "You can slowly wash out all the Dao corruption."
"How long would that take?"
"Too long. By the time you’ve succeeded, the Transcendent Era might already be near its end."
