SSS Demon King System: The Rise of a Dying Extra-Chapter 69: The Farewell. (1)
"Well, it’s time to go I suppose," Lloyd commented calmly, while seeing all the beast-men of the village gathered.
The truth is he didn’t want a big farewell when leaving, for him it was somewhat uncomfortable.
So many people paying attention to him at once, was certainly uncomfortable.
But it was still understandable, after all, Lloyd had helped the beast-men.
He had saved them from the assassin guild, had freed them, had managed to get them to recover their village, was working to free more of them and besides he had the mark of the chosen, which made the Fenrir tribe technically under his command.
It was normal they wanted to say goodbye.
Lloyd couldn’t reproach them.
"Yes, though we’ll see each other again right away, so don’t be sad Lloyd," Sköll commented with energy and a smiling grin, while her tail moved happily.
Lloyd rolled his eyes somewhat exasperated.
Not because Sköll wasn’t right, in fact, she was correct, most surely he would meet with them again very soon, because he needed as many people as possible to finish off his enemy.
Bernard Sargas.
The noble who was originally in charge of that territory.
But who had made the terrible mistake of wanting to assassinate him.
Lloyd didn’t consider himself vindictive, however, he had no choice but to take revenge.
Not only for survival, but also by order of the system.
Moreover, he himself had promised that in this world he wouldn’t let himself be trampled so easily.
His revenge would be soon.
Though he was patient, very patient. Not for nothing had he waited months to plan everything.
In itself that made him much more dangerous.
Another person perhaps would have confronted Bernard as soon as they knew who was behind their assassination attempt.
However, without evidence, Bernard could simply deny everything.
Lloyd was sure Sebastian had the ability to finish off Bernard’s guard, and surely the assassin guild members who would try to defend him.
But the problem would come later, when the kingdom of Avalon found out.
He was sure his family would take advantage of any excuse to finish him off.
They could from pointing to him as a criminal, to simply forcing him to stay in Cocytus. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Lloyd didn’t want to be limited in any aspect, he didn’t want to stay in that territory his whole life.
Moreover getting in the assassin guild’s sights without having support or influence was very dangerous.
He would be exposing himself to a danger that even Sebastian would have problems defending him from.
However, thanks to his plan, not only was he doing everything legitimately and legally, but he could even ask Avalon for compensation for having prevented one of their territories from falling into the dark society’s hands.
Doing it that way he ensured no one would take reprisals against him, which would make it difficult for the assassin guild to finish him off.
It wasn’t the same to secretly finish off a dying and sick child, as to finish off and assassinate the leader of a kingdom of Avalon territory.
If they did that they would surely get into trouble, and wouldn’t get what they wanted in any way.
In other words, Lloyd had made the right decision by waiting, and having the ability to plan that way, and to take his time calmly, made him much more dangerous than someone impulsive.
"I know, besides you say it as if I could get rid of you," Lloyd responded with a dry tone.
After all Sköll had decided to accompany him, something which while Lloyd was against, he knew he wasn’t going to be able to have a say in.
He knew how stubborn Sköll was, and surely he wasn’t going to manage to convince her to stay.
"Hmp! You say it as if it were something bad," Sköll responded, annoyed, while puffing her cheeks with displeasure.
Lloyd was about to respond that for him, it was something bad, but decided to stay silent, since saying those thoughts aloud would bring an unwanted argument, and Lloyd wasn’t in the mood to argue.
"Oh come on Sköll, I’m sure Lord Lloyd didn’t mean it that way," Hati commented with a serious tone, then turned toward Lloyd and bowed forward respectfully. "I wish you much luck taking care of my sister Lord Lloyd, I know it can be difficult, but be patient with her."
Upon hearing those words, Sköll glared at her sister.
"That comment doesn’t help sister!" Sköll exclaimed angrily, while giving a strong stomp on the ground and her tail tensed.
Lloyd had to hold back his laughter at such a scene, it was funny to see that interaction between sisters.
Though curiously it was hard to know if Hati had said it seriously or as a joke, since her calm and serious expression showed no signs of malice.
"Don’t worry, I’ll be able to bear it," Lloyd responded calmly. "Though I’d appreciate if you don’t call me lord, as I already said, I prefer to be treated in a more casual way."
Upon hearing those words the girl’s eyes opened wide, realizing her mistake.
"Oh! That’s right I’m sorry, sometimes I forget that request," she answered with some regret in her voice.
Lloyd shook his head, dismissing the matter.
"Don’t worry, it’s fine," Lloyd answered calmly. "And are you sure you don’t want to come with us? There’s still space in the carriage."
Lloyd commented calmly.
Without doubt he preferred Hati to Sköll.
She was much calmer and more polite than the blonde, without doubt would bring many problems.
However, Hati shook her head.
"I’m sorry, I must decline your offer," the girl answered calmly. "While I’d love to go with you, someone must stay here to administer the village. I think it’s preferable that one of the priestesses stays here."
She answered.
Lloyd nodded understandingly, containing his desire to ask that Sköll be the one to stay instead of Hati.
He even thought about deceiving Sköll by telling her it was more logical for her to stay, since she was stronger, seeking to trick her with flattery to make her stay, but decided to restrain himself.
"Alright, I understand," Lloyd responded calmly. "Well, I’ll leave a guardian just in case they attack the village."
Lloyd commented, while summoning the swamp of gluttony.
His shadow stretched on the ground, to be able to pull Siegfried out of it.
The hero had given his life to save the Fenrir tribe and now, after dying, continued fulfilling that mission.
It was certainly something curious, Lloyd thought.
