Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1157: The Heel of Cultivation Sealing
The time it took for Logos and Pathos to determine what kind of seal that their Lord was dealing with was less than the time it took for someone to blink.
As incorporeal spirits of knowledge, they were able to tap into the Library’s vast archive with significantly more ease than most people and Kaijin.
However, as one would expect from such easy access, they were also the first to understand that things for their Lord were surprisingly...dire.
Regardless, once Logos had returned with the proper record, the spirit of logic and reason opened the book so that he could share what they had learned with his more emotional counterpart.
Speaking of, while Logos went about acquiring the necessary books, Pathos had stayed behind to see if their Lord did anything that might help them locate him.
Moments ago, they had learned that their Lord had managed to condense a [Core], but their current connection was only strong enough to inform them that the [Core] had a focus on [Hope].
The irony of this moment was not lost to either of the twin spirits.
That stated, nothing more after that and the appearance of this seal had occurred, so this book was a welcome revelation.
=Good news,= Logos said to announce his presence while carrying a book titled, [A thousand and one ways to cripple the next generation of upstarts]. Incidentally, this caused Pathos’s attention to deviate for a half second.
=I have managed to determine that the seal we’re dealing with is either an adaptation of the [Netherworld Nine Nightmare Seal] to make use of Ignatii aether, or an adaptation of the [Hellfire Sapping Seal] to make use of Umbral aether. Either way, this means our lord is either in Dozing Salamander or Umbral Spider.=
<Hell yeah! We now have a search range!,> Pathos exclaimed with joy at the revelation.
Now all they had to do was decipher some of the important bits of the seal and then they could determine the region their Lord was currently located.
However, just as the two of them were about to switch to deep analysis mode...
"FWOOSH!"
<Oh, now something happens?>
=Oh dear.=
The seal they had been staring at this whole time was beginning to burn like gunpowder poured on the ground.
Which meant that their Lord was doing something drastic and possibly dumb.
Again.
=You remembered to write down what that seal looked like when we first saw it, right?=
<After that incident in the past with Mad Tinker? Always.>
=I nearly forgot about that day...why were so many corpses involved?=
<It was either for a flesh golem or our lord at the time was fighting one of those death sect weirdos.>
=Oh yeah...=
...Meanwhile, in the present...
[So...do all cultivation seals look like this, or...,] Zhen Liu asked, despite being able guess how Blazejudicator was going reply. Honestly, he was just trying to lessen the general feeling of foreboding that had been pressing down on them.
[Maybe? This is the first time I’ve seen a cultivation seal,] Blazejudicator answered. [but it looks...like a parasitic plant.]
[Or a tumor,] Zhen Liu added.
[Yeah...we should probably get closer to it so we can figure out how to burn it.]
[Sounds good,] Zhen Liu agreed before stepping towards the seal.
Cultivation seals sound terrifying and mysterious, but in reality, they were just a special form of aether array that could only be imposed in one of two ways.
The most common way these seals come into existence is due to good old fashioned power imbalances.
If a warrior of a greater cultivation than their opponent felt like it, they could impose a seal on them to prevent them from being able to cultivate any further. In the best case, the sealed warrior would still be able to maintain current stage for the rest of their life, while the worst case scenario is that they get knocked all the way back down to being as weak as a run-of-the-mill mortal.
It was actually a fairly common practice for large organizations to impose such seals as punishment on defeated rivals or unruly members.
Nothing cemented absolute power like severely limiting the choices of rivals...and the younger generation.
Alternatively, some (un)lucky individuals end up being born with a type of cultivation seal known to certain circles as a [Divine Restriction].
Those born with a [Divine Restriction] are said to be both the luckiest and most unfortunate people in existence.
On the one hand, those born with a [Divine Restriction] may go about their whole lives without knowing about the seal placed upon their souls, living and dying in mundanity. Or in some terrible cases, being snuffed out by paranoid organizations before being able to lift the restriction.
On the other hand, those lucky individuals who can figure out a way to lift the [Divine Restriction] end up becoming incredibly powerful aether warriors that are able to punch way above their weight class.
Certain records even indicate that certain large sects make it a point to sniff out these individuals and indoctrinate them before lifting their seals, in order to make sure that they have easy access to a powerhouse warrior.
Once upon a time, Zhen Liu thought he was like one of these vaunted potentates, but alas, that wasn’t the case.
He was just born without the right pieces built-in.
Regardless, after a literal moment of less than a few seconds, Zhen Liu and Blazejudicator found themselves staring up at the cultivation seal that had gunked up Lythero’s cultivation and locked him in the Aether Acolyte stage.
[Okay... it’s significantly fleshier looking than I thought it would be,] Zhen Liu commented as he stared up at the manifestation of Lythero’s cultivation seal. [And it appears to be pulsating. Gross.]
[If I had to guess, Executor,] Blazejudicator answered. [I think this seal is actively sapping any aether Lythero attempts to absorb and condense.]
[That would explain the weird root-looking structures...]
In all honesty, Zhen Liu and Blazejudicator had no idea what they were doing.

This would normally be the part where Logos and Pathos would provide clear instructions on how to deconstruct this cultivation seal using [Chaos], but that option wasn’t available right now. Hell, their lack of guidance right now was part of the reason why Zhen Liu figured he’d have an easier time in breaking this seal by literally confronting it on a spiritual level.
Technically speaking...he wasn’t wrong.
The traditional methods of breaking down a cultivation seal usually involved the injection of a huge amount of aether into the sealed person’s body, or figuring out the exact way to undo a seal by meticulously breaking it apart piece by piece.
The former usually works but could have dire consequences, while the latter had no consequences but required information that may or may not be privy to the seal breaker.
Confronting a seal inside of someone’s soul was unheard of to the wider world, but if they were able to do so in the same manner that Zhen Liu was doing, then even something as absurdly powerful as a [Divine Restriction] would be child’s play.
That said, Zhen Liu and Blazejudicator had no idea exactly how momentous this activity of theirs actually was.
They were too busy determing how stupid their next plan of action was going to be.
[Okay, I can think of two ways we can get rid of this seal thingies,] Zhen Liu concluded after looking over the seal and determining it’s characteristics.
[Our first option is to inject Chaos into Lythero’s soul and hope that this thing absorbs it and gets all messed up due to the introduction of foreign energy. Best case scenario, the seal implodes like that time I inject a fuckton of Chaos into that Godoku roach guy. Worst case scenario, it somehow mutates into something out of control and tries to kill us and Lythero in the process.]
[Okay,] Blazejudicator nodded while getting the feeling that this suggestion was a bad idea. [What’s the second option?]
[We burn it to the ground.]
[Alright...wait, what?]
As soon as this question was asked, Zhen Liu summoned forth a ball of flames that radiated feelings of [Temperance].
[I’m not entirely sure why, but this seal gives me a vibe that is very similar to your Flames of Vice and Virtue,] Zhen Liu explained. [I bet you anything, we can probably just burn out this seal by using one of the flames that matches it...or is the opposite of it? I don’t know, either way, I’m pretty sure we could burn it out with one of these flames.]
[Huh...]
The [Flames of Vice and Virtue] were originally spiritual aether flames anyways, so their ability to affect the soul and other incorporeal creatures and objects was much greater in comparison to other types of aether flames, so using it to burn out a cultivation array made sense.
There was just one question that had to be addressed.
[You don’t think suddenly injecting Lythero with concentrated flames like this will have negative consequences?]
[Probably not, but we can balance out any irregularities with the opposing flame.]
[Good enough for me, let’s burn this sucka into spirit ashes.]
[Fuck yeah.]
