[Gula Flame, devour!]

[Flame of Temperentia, take control!]

Without any clear direction, and figuring now was as good as any, Zhen Liu and Blazejudicator proceeded to blast spiritual flames directly at the seal that was inside of Lythero.

The effect of this little trick was almost immediate.

It didn’t whether it was [Flames of Vice] or the [Flames of Virtue] that made contact with the tree, either type caused the seal to rapidly break down.

Whether this was due to the nature of the flames being used, or the fact that Zhen Liu and Blazejudicator mixed in a little [Chaos] into their attacks, was unclear.

All that the duo knew was that this shit was working and that they were about to earn the trust and loyalty of someone who was going to be an excellent guide to Dozing Salamander.

Hopefully.

[Huh,] Zhen Liu said in surprise as he noticed something slightly annoying. [It appears that the seal is starting to become more and more resistant to the flames that we’re currently using. Interesting.]

[Then by all means, we should probably switch flames?,] Blazejudicator asked.

[Indeed,] Zhen Liu agreed before retracting the [Flame of Temperance].

[Let’s go with this next. Flame of Greed!]

[Flame of Charity!]

This cycle would go on for quite some time from Zhen Liu and Blazejudicator’s perspective, as they had to use all sorts of tricks to make sure that this stupid deal didn’t develop some kind of resistance and counterattack.

In reality, all of these spiritual shenanigans actually took place over a very small scope of time.

However, from the perspective of the one currently getting burned inside out, this process felt like it was taking forever.

After all, it’s not often someone gets a spiritual tumor burnt out of them.

...From the other side of this conflagration of the soul...

’FUCK THIS HURTS!,’ Lythero mentally cursed as he felt something inside him starting to burn away into ashes. ’Its like someone strapped me to a hill of fire ants and they just got under my skin! Why the hell did I agree to do this?!’

Normally, when a Kaijin possesses someone, there is a brief moment where the two beings intermingle in a space created from the person’s soul and modified by the former.

This moment happens to give the possessed some understanding about what their body was about to go through. However, that didn’t happen this time around.

Due to his cultivation being sealed, Lythero’s soul was more or less handicapped as a result. As such, any and all activities that would involve his soul would also become hampered.

So instead of being able to have an up close and personal look at the wretched thing that damned his future, Lythero just found himself in this weird semi-conscious state that had him completely paralyzed while being able to stare directly into Zhen Liu’s eyes. He wished this wasn’t the case though, since the aforementioned’s eyes were glowing a rather unnatural color.

Not only that, but out of the corner of his eyes, he could see that the world around him more or less...stopped.

Time itself seemed to still as this situation went on, whether or not it had actually stopped though was a matter of perspective.

This strange situation, combined with the searing pain that was spreading out throughout his body, made Lythero regret asking this strange man to help him restore his cultivation.

That is...until he felt something that he hadn’t felt in a long long time.

’This really fucking...wait a minute...this sensation!’

He felt the flow of aether through his body, once more.

More specifically, ever since that seal had been applied to his cultivation, he could actively feel that his aether was flowing at an impeded rate.

For years, he felt as if his aether channels were like a heavily polluted aqueduct. Aether could still flow, but was so heavily impeded that it might as well have been sludge.

But now, as he felt something being literally burned out of his body, he could feel those metaphorical aqueducts starting to flow more freely.

Lythero could even feel that the quality of his aether was starting to reach a higher tier than what he was used to circulating. Although, there was a strange accent to it that wasn’t there before.

He wasn’t entirely sure what he was feeling in his aether but it had this strange quality of...[Judgement].

’Huh...is this a side effect or on purpose? I guess I’ll have to wait until whatever this is is over...’

Thankfully, he would get this answer in a second.

Granted, that was a second in real time. From his messed up perspective of time, he wouldn’t get a solid answer for a solid ten minutes.

...Now back to the inside of Lythero’s soul…

[Dominate! Flames of Superbia!]

[Make them kneel, Flames of Humilitas!]

Jets of purple flame followed balls of yellow flame were released by Zhen Liu and Blazejudicator as they launched yet another volley of attacks against Lythero’s cultivation seal.

At this point in time, the seal looked incredibly burnt, with many of its "roots" having been burned to cinders while the main "body" showed signs of deep carbonization.

[You think this seal is destroyed enough yet?]

[Probably, but we’re going for scorched earth here anyways. Might as well we make sure that this seal gets burned down into nothingness...or at least a pile of ashes.]

[As you wish, Executor.]

If this was a real organism, Zhen Liu and Blazejudicator probably would’ve stopped earlier, since that amount of damage would be fatal anyways. But this was a weird spiritual reality that was inside of someone else’s soul, so those kind of rules of reality do not apply.

For all Zhen Liu knew, if he left even a tiny remnant of this seal behind, there was a non-zero chance of it suddenly regenerating back to full strength and Lythero would end up back at the bottom of the aether warrior barrel.

And Zhen Liu didn’t want his possible guide to Dozing Salamander to end up like that while on the road.

So on the duo went, burning Lythero’s seal as much as they could...until there was nothing left.

[Huh.]

After releasing one last round of flames, the last of the seal has burned away, leaving nothing but spiritual ashes and smoke that began to disintegrate into pure aether.

[I thought there would be more drama.]

And as the smoke cleared, and the surroundings that composed Lythero’s soul began to become reinvigorated by the infusion of aether that had been stymied for years.

[Wait...I think that’s his formula?]

Something that had been the main core for Lythero finally began to stir once more.

[Huh. Is it just me or do those look like a bundle of suns?]

[Oh yeah...uh oh.]

And finally release a power that had been suppressed for nine long years!

[Move, move, move!]

[We do not want to be here when those suns-]

FWOOSH!

[HOLY SHI-!]

A power that was unique to the [Universe Class] formulas.

Just as Blazejudicator and Zhen Liu were about to exit Lythero’s body at their leisure, his formula did it for them.

[Yeowch!]

[Ungrateful!]

Evidently, Zhen Liu was simultaneously happy for Lythero, but also deeply annoyed.

...Now back to real time and real space...

^Yeow! Your formula is spicy as hell man, what the fuck?,^ Zhen Liu lightly chided as he shook the stinging pain out of his hand.

On the surface, Zhen Liu was chill. Internally though, he was screaming.

Because, evidently, Lythero left out some important details of his past and of his cultivation.

Namely, that he was packing a [Universe] Class formula!

’I figured I wasn’t the only guy in world packing one,’ Zhen Liu thought to himself. ’But godsdamn, I didn’t expect a traditional aether based formula would be this strong.’

As Zhen Liu was shaking off the pain, Lythero was more or less stunned silent, crying and staring into space as he felt every single cell and vein in his body becoming reinvigorated with an aether quality he hadn’t felt in years.

It was like he had been thirsty for years and finally had a cool drink of fresh spring water.

But that wasn’t the end of it.

’There’s even more power coming out of my formula...how much have I stockpiled after all of these years?!’

Immediately, Lythero began to condense the overflowing aether into rings for his formula, and then condensing those rings into complete stage breaks.

’First...second...’

When Lythero was sealed, he was originally a first ring Aether Master.

’...third...fourth...’

But with this sudden surge of resorted aether, he had managed to quickly condense the other four rings and begin condensing those into a grand one.

’Condensing...breaking...ha!’

And in a moment that was quicker than the blink of an eye, Lythero had become an Aether Grandmaster.

But he wasn’t done there.

’Come on, just a little more.’

He still had power in his reserves, and he was feeling that he could break into Aether Lord.

He just needed to condense those rings first.
