Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1137: (Un)planned Events
On the one hand, Zhen Liu was a touch thrilled at the prospect of his family learning how to wield [Chaos] this early.
Zhen Liu had always planned for this possibility. He figured that, at some point in his future, that he would have to leave Stone Claw for an extended period of time in order to progress in his cultivation or to keep his family safe while he went to deal with the growing list of enemies he had.
Aside from leaving behind some more kaijin behind to act as guards, he figured it would be more efficient if his family learned how to use [Chaos] as well, since it could be used to deter a fuckton of enemy Aether warriors.
That, and the more people who learned [Chaos] in his family, the less likely outsiders would direct their attention towards him.

Easier to hide a tree in the forest, or something like that.
On the other hand though, Zhen Liu was rightfully worried about the fact that this was happening now, ahead of his personal schedule, and literal moments before a natural disaster would come crashing down on Stone Claw City.
There was only one possible reason why Arachnidame and Lacerage would come to this conclusion...and it wasn’t a good conclusion.
...
’So...exactly how bad things are going to go when I get back home?’
<Pardon?>
’Arachnidame and Lacerage are smart. Crazy smarty. So the possibility of either of them making a rash decision is so infinitesimally tiny that it borders on absurdity,’ Zhen Liu explained himself. ’So even if they hadn’t been sending me daily updates about the situation back home, it doesn’t I can’t make my own observations and conclusions.’
<=...=>
’Which is why I ask again, how bad is the incoming Beast Tide?’
For the first time in a long time, Zhen Liu could feel silence coming from his connection with Logos and Pathos. Whatever they were calculating, it was probably way worse than what he had in mind.
<Well...I can’t give an objective overview without an emotional overreaction...Logos? Would you mind doing the honors?>
=By our calculations, Stone Claw is about to get hit with a Beast Tide that surpasses any other in the history of the frontier region. Take a look.=
In the amount of time that took less than an eye blink, Logos had downloaded all of the calculations they and Pathos had made in regards to the Beast Tide into Zhen Liu’s head.
While it wasn’t an overwhelming amount of information, what he had learned was enough to get him worried.
Very worried.
’Rock Wolves, Dust Vultures, Iron-Backed Bison...it’s like the entirety of the frontier got riled up.’
<A powerful leader has a tendency to rally disparate forces under a common cause. Course, the moment they die the whole thing will collapse in a second.>
’No shit, but that might be easier said than done...’
Out of everything Logos and Pathos had bestowed upon him, the most disturbing piece of information was the detailed write-up on the seventh tier Sandstorm Tyrant that was leasing the whole thing.
The scouts sent by his family and the rest of Stone Claw’s forces had done a decent job in identifying the make-up of the Beast Tide, but that wasn’t enough for a paranoid, information-hungry person like Zhen Liu.
As such, on the day he and his cousins left for Roaring Tide and Undertow, he made sure to relay instructions to the kaijin and zako left in Stone Claw to go and gather more information.
[Chaos] wasn’t exactly the easiest thing to detect if one wasn’t trained to do so, so a whole mess of zakos were being regularly sent out by Archanidame and Lacerage to try and scout out the Beast Tide’s composition.
Some got caught on occasion and were subsequently destroyed, but many others managed to get in and out with more and more detailed pieces of information.
As such, Zhen Liu was now aware that the Sandstorm Tyrant wasn’t impossible to kill…it would just take a lot of effort and maybe a weakness or two being exploited to hell and back.
Of course, all the information in the world was basically useless without the means to act upon it.
’Okay, the picture about this being an issue has been more than clearly conveyed…you guys have an estimate about whether or not we’ll be back in time to make a difference?’
<=Well…worst case scenario, you guys will be back on the exact day the Beast Tide will make contact. Best case scenario, as little as a day or a week after you guys get back.=>
’Damn, talk about a time crunch…alright, let’s make plans for both scenarios.’
<=Of course.=>
Generally speaking, Zhen Liu’s desire to plan for both a best and worst case scenario was good practice.
Nobody could predict everything and having a plan for every situation was helpful...in most cases.
In this case though, Zhen Liu probably should’ve just focused on the worst case scenario.

"Hey, Simos?"
"Yeah, Graff?"
"Why are we on look out duty again?"
"Because it’s our job?"
"No, I mean like...why did we agree to stick around and fight in the Beast Tide, man? This shit is way out of our usual wheelhouse."
"Oh. Uh...because we love our wives and we needed the money?"
"Oh yeah...is it Victor back with the food yet? I get forgetful when I get hungry."
"No shit..."
Several weeks ago, Victor, Simos and Graff, and their beloved spouses(recently evolved zakos), were all set to leave Stone Claw City after fulfilling their job for the Night Parade.
Unfortunately, they were unable to.
Around the exact same time they were going to leave, the first refugees from the destroyed villages had arrived and the city’s borders were to be shutdown for renovations and upgrades as a result.
As such, the trio of private investigators, and their beloveds, were stuck in Stone Claw City for the foreseeable.
But they weren’t homeless or jobless this time.
City as dense as this still needed private investigation work, and they managed to secure a stay at an inn.
Little did the trio know though, that this was all thanks to their wives having some "special" connections.
Regardless, this semi-lackadasical life style eventually went up in smoke as the ongoing crisis made private sector work harder and harder to come by, and more and more people were needed to many the defensive measures.
This eventually got to the point that the three were assigned watch tower duty on the perimeter walls.
Honestly, it wasn’t bad work just...kind of long and boring.
On the plus side, the food was decent.
"Hey, I’m back!"
"Victor!"
"Thank the gods! What you bring back?"
"Nothing too crazy. Just buns, dumplings, three bowls of noodles and roast pork belly," Victor explained as he summoned the food items from the spatial pocket hidden in his teeth.
"Roasted pork belly? You mean bacon?"
"Nah, this is different."
Much like how they were surprised at the existence of pasta back in Pearl Tusk Harbor, the trio of vagabonds had their first experience of Roaring Tide style cuisine while in Stone Claw and had grown a liking to the stuff.
Granted, they thought that pasta tossed in sauce tasted better than stir fried noodles with veggies, and that chopsticks were an incredibly weird tool to eat with, but everything that went with such a dish were tasty on their own merits.
"Damn. I didn’t even know pork belly could get this juicy and crispy. I feel like I could chew on this stuff forever."
"Right?"
"I don’t know, I think I still prefer bacon. I like my pork meat smokier, ya know."
"I get that."
As the trio continued to chow down on their lunch, they decided to fill the silence with a conversation about all that was happening in the city. That and whether or not shit was really about to hit the fan or not.
"Yo, you guys hear about how the Zhen Clan have been practicing these weirdly powerful techniques?"
"Who hasn’t? The sound of their practicing literally echoes across the landscape some days."
"I heard from an outter branch member that these new arts of theirs seem to ignore most defensive abilities like a hot knife through butter."
"Huh...sounds like what their Fourth Young master had going on with him."
"Wait, didn’t he almost get domed and that’s why he’s almost invincible?"
"Almost?"
"I refuse to believe there isn’t something in this world that can’t hurt him."
The trio continued to have their conversation and eating all the while...until something happened.
"Hold up..."
To be more precise, Victor was just about to use newly learned chopstick skills to grab a dumpling when he noticed that the plate the dumpling was sitting on was starting to rumble.
Which then led to him noticing that the rest of the dishes they were about it eat were also staring to shake.
"Uh oh..."
