Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 732 - 731 Making a Scene at the County Government Office
The bullies brought by the tyrant soon pushed their way in, and the tyrant, with a laugh, said they were overestimating themselves, just as he was about to head towards the backyard when Tian Peng and Chen Gong rushed over.
"What are you doing?"
"What am I doing?" The bully turned to the speaker, a man standing nine feet tall with a strong build and a rough voice, clearly a man of considerable strength.
"Who are you? I don’t recall anyone like you from Gao Laozhuang."
"And who are you?" Tian Peng eyed the bully’s arrogant appearance, suspecting this man was the one intent on forcibly marrying Gao Cuilan.
"It seems you are not from Gao Laozhuang either. By the way you talk, I’d actually thought you were one of the Gao family."
"What does it matter where I’m from!" the bully snarled viciously. "I’m the soon-to-be son-in-law of Gao Laozhuang, about to marry the third Miss Gao."
"This is laughable, if you hadn’t said you were here to marry someone, I might have mistaken you for a bandit," Tian Peng chuckled, "I’ve never seen anyone seeking marriage quite like you."
"What’s that supposed to mean, that I’m not here to marry? Are you trying to say you are?" The bully was infuriated and then it dawned on him.
"Oh, I know who you are now. When I sent people to fetch Miss Gao yesterday, it was you who stopped them, wasn’t it? To have the audacity to disrupt a marriage and still you have the face to stand here."
"I won’t waste words with you," Tian Peng snorted coldly. "With me here, you will not marry Miss Gao."
"What a big talker you are! Do you think you’re the Matchmaker Deity, that if you say I can’t marry her, then I won’t?" The bully, red in the face and ears from anger, called out to his men.
"Listen well, make sure to beat this man until he looks like a pig’s head, then bring Miss Gao onto my palanquin. If you don’t, don’t expect to see a dime of your pay."
With the bully’s words, his men hurried forward, fearing that arriving late would allow the man to escape; they rolled up their sleeves, ready to take him down.
Tian Peng stood his ground, not even bothering to lift a hand. Whoever came at him, he kicked; sending one flying back, causing him to crash into the others and topple them over.
Tian Peng was amused and kicked with more force; with each kick a man fell, leaving Chen Gong without even a chance to strike. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
In no time, all of the men the bully had brought were sent sprawling by Tian Peng.
The bully was taken aback. "Who exactly are you?"
"Haven’t I told you already, I’m the one to stop you," said Tian Peng.
"Today, with me here, you will not marry Miss Gao, and I will make sure you understand that you will never be able to marry her in this lifetime. If you dare to come, I will do just like now and knock down every man you bring."
"I’ll have you know, I have the support of the County Government Office!"
The bully, somewhat frightened, especially as Tian Peng took two steps forward and not a single man beside him stood, feared Tian Peng might attack him so he invoked the government’s support as a shield, "Humph, if you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t even have thought of settling this with the Yamen."
"What now, do you mean to knock down the officials from the County Government Office too?"
The bully looked at Tian Peng, he had already invoked the authority of the government, yet this man was still not afraid. What exactly did he fear? "Let me tell you, even though Gao Laozhuang is the Gao family’s, they still rely on the backing of the County Government Office. If they go against it, they won’t have many good days left!"
"Is that so, you talk a big game." Tian Peng chuckled. "But now that I think about it, you’re not even from the Great Tang. A foreigner, using our Great Tang’s government to threaten the people of the Great Tang, you really have quite the nerve."
"What, have you not heard the saying ’distant relatives may not be as helpful as close neighbors’?" the bully countered. "Although I’m not from around here, we’re close to Gao Laozhuang, and with the emperor far away and out of reach, he won’t manage things here. Instead, our relationship with Gao Laozhuang is much closer than that of ordinary Great Tang folk. The government will side with us, isn’t that an obvious fact?"
"You’re not wrong, but ultimately, the only reason the government would bother to help you is for profit." Tian Peng sneered. "I’ll go have a word with the government right now."
Having said that, Tian Peng stepped forward, grabbed the bully by the collar, and dragged him towards the stables, where Chen Gong, catching Tian Peng’s intent, led a horse out.
Taking the bully to the County Government Office, he finally realized that he might have messed with the wrong person, and all the way there, he was pleading for mercy. Unfortunately, he had uttered too many harsh words earlier, so Tian Peng ignored his pleas for mercy regardless.
Once at the local office, Tian Peng threw the bully off the horse and dismounted to walk inside.
The guards at the gate of the Yamen didn’t understand what was happening. They didn’t recognize Tian Peng and Chen Gong, but they did know the bully, and seeing the situation, they knew he had been taught a lesson.
"Where is your officer?" Tian Peng asked. "Tell him I want to see your officer."
"I’m sorry, our superior isn’t at the County Government Office right now. If you’d like to see him, you’ll have to wait until he returns," said one of the guards at the gate.
In fact, the officer was inside, but these two guards knew how to read the room. The situation looked like someone had come to cause trouble, and if they let their superior meet with this person under these circumstances.
He might well get angry and blame them, so naturally, they sought to prevent such a confrontation from occurring.
"What, it’s only noon now, if your county official isn’t in the Yamen, where else could he be?" Tian Peng huffed disdainfully. "Don’t tell me your county official has gone to indulge in flower wine."
"What nonsense are you spouting? Who are you? Coming to the County Government Office without declaring your name, and asking to see our superior right off the bat," they protested.
Furthermore, "Our superior isn’t in the Yamen because he has official business to attend to. Where would he find the time to drink flower wine? Accusing our superior without knowing the facts, you could be thrown into the dungeon for this."
Tian Peng took the bully from Chen Gong’s hands and threw him in front of the guards, "Do you recognize this person?"
The two guards exchanged a glance, silently communicating with each other. They shook their heads, "No, we don’t recognize him."
Tian Peng stared at the bully, "They say they don’t recognize you, so here is what we’ll do: I’ll ask a few more times, and if they still don’t recognize you, I’ll take you away. As for what I’ll do once I’ve taken you away, I’m sure you know."
Frightened by the menacing look in Tian Peng’s eyes, the bully hastily yelled at the two guards, "You can’t just say whatever you please. I was just at your place not too long ago treating you to flower wine, you can’t have forgotten about me just like that."
Tian Peng’s threat had nothing to do with them, so of course, the guards would not admit knowing the man and shook their heads once again.
"We don’t recognize him, and by the look of his clothes, he’s not a local. He might be a foreigner. You’re free to take him away and deal with him as you please," they said.
"No, please!" The bully now truly knew fear and desperately knelt begging for mercy. However, the guards ignored him and only stared straight ahead.
"I’m begging you, I’ll give you money, any amount you want. You know who I am, please don’t let me be taken away!" he pleaded.
