Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 728 - 727: Highly Praising the Kasaya
The Six-Eared Macaque was very impressed by this person’s courage, not expecting there to be someone unafraid of Bodhisattva Guanyin. He had truly underestimated this person.
"Alright, then I’ll take it out." The Six-Eared Macaque bowed its head to retrieve the kasaya. As it lowered its head, its eyes turned fierce, but when it raised its head again, its expression was no different from before, "This is the kasaya, known as the Brocade Kasaya."
The cave abode was illuminated solely by candlelight and the glow of the Luminous Pearl, but the moment the kasaya was unfolded, the cave was instantly brightened.
Those who initially said they wouldn’t look were compelled by the brightness to set their gaze upon the kasaya in the Six-Eared Macaque’s hands. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"This! This kasaya!"
"My goodness, indeed worthy of a gift from Bodhisattva Guanyin. I have never seen such a treasure brimming with spiritual energy before."
"This kasaya is truly splendid, not just bright. It must have quite a few functions, right?"
The others merely looked on, some even covering their eyes with their hands while sneaking glances at the kasaya.
Only Sun Wukong not just looked, but also took the kasaya into his hands.
"This kasaya is indeed quite remarkable," said Sun Wukong, smiling.
The Six-Eared Macaque hadn’t expected this person to be so bold. Merely looking wasn’t enough; he even directly took the kasaya into his hands, fully aware that it was gifted by Bodhisattva Guanyin.
"It is good, after all, it was a gift from Bodhisattva Guanyin," said the Six-Eared Macaque through gritted teeth, emphasizing the name of Bodhisattva Guanyin.
Sun Wukong carefully felt the kasaya inside and out, growing more and more proud as he examined it.
Worthy of his master indeed, capable of making this kasaya look exactly like the real one, he couldn’t see any difference no matter how he looked.
"This kasaya is truly fine," Sun Wukong repeated with a smile, then placed the kasaya on the table.
"Such a fine item should indeed be well stored and kept out of sight from others. It’s so valuable that it’s not good to always flaunt it in public."
You know this item shouldn’t be seen by outsiders, yet you insisted on asking to see it. Contradicting yourself, monopolizing the conversation.
Although inwardly criticizing this person, the Six-Eared Macaque outwardly maintained perfect composure, nodding with a smile, "Fellow Daoist speaks truthfully. The kasaya is indeed valuable and I should store it. Now that everyone has had a look, I’ll put it away."
Having said that, the Six-Eared Macaque quickly put away the kasaya and handed it to Xuanzang.
Xuanzang, holding the kasaya, also treated it with great solemnity. He placed the kasaya into a small parcel and then tucked the packet into his bosom.
Sun Wukong watched cheerfully as Xuanzang stored the item securely, then nodded contentedly. "Right, right. Such a precious item should be kept safe."
Xuanzang nodded, "This kasaya was sent by Bodhisattva Guanyin. I have always treated it with the utmost respect."
"That’s right, it should be well kept," said Sun Wukong.
The Six-Eared Macaque always felt something was odd. Although what this person said was not wrong, for some reason, it felt his words carried a different meaning, with an ironic tone.
Sensing the Six-Eared Macaque’s scrutiny, Sun Wukong turned his head and shrugged at the Six-Eared Macaque nonchalantly.
Thus the banquet concluded, the guests leaving in twos and threes. Xuanzang and the Six-Eared Macaque bid farewell to Xiong Daoren, "Brother Xiong, thank you for your hospitality today. We shall take our leave now."
"Let’s go, be careful on the road," Xiong Daoren said with a smile, waving to the master and disciple, "The Journey to the West is long, and if there’s anything you need my help with, remember to come find me."
"Then we’re much obliged for your concern, Brother Xiong," the Six-Eared Macaque and Xuanzang left Black Wind Mountain.
After leaving Black Wind Mountain, the master and disciple also bid farewell to Guanyin Temple and continued on their Journey to the West for Scriptures.
On the road, Xuanzang couldn’t help but say, "I originally thought all demons were ruthless villains who devour people without spitting out their bones, but it turns out that this demon actually practices spiritual cultivation and does not take life. His observance of the precepts is even stricter than ordinary folk; it seems I held too deep a prejudice against demons."
"Master, you can’t say that," the Six-Eared Macaque replied, "It’s true such demons are rare. It’s still better for you to be more vigilant when encountering demons."
"You’re right, this kind of thing is indeed rare," Xuanzang nodded, recited a bit of the Buddhist Scriptures, then added, "However, the friends that demon has made are also in spiritual cultivation; yet, from what I see, all of his friends combined are still no match for the Black Bear Demon’s strength."
Xuanzang, who had no cultivation, could see this, and naturally, the Six-Eared Macaque could see it too.
Not only were these spirits less powerful than the Black Bear Demon, but their fortunes were also not as great, with the exception of one—that person standing beside the Black Bear Demon, who claimed to be a mortal, yet there was nothing about his demeanor or presence that suggested he was just an ordinary person.
"Master, we should hurry on our way to get through this forest before nightfall," the Six-Eared Macaque, noticing the sun already high overhead, said to Xuanzang.
Xuanzang also looked up at the sky, promptly resolved, and they hastened their pace.
Sun Wukong returned from Black Wind Mountain to Chaos Residence. As soon as he entered, he went to find Chen Nuo, "Master, Master! I’m back!"
"If you’re back, then you’re back. Why the fuss?" Chen Nuo, who had just taken out a Demon Core to refine, had his train of thought interrupted by Sun Wukong’s loud voice.
Sun Wukong didn’t know what he had done wrong, but hearing the seriousness in Chen Nuo’s voice, he immediately fell silent, then slowly walked to the door of Chen Nuo’s room.
Only then did he speak, "Sorry, Master, I was wrong. Was it because I spoke too loudly and disturbed you?"
"Since you know, that’s good enough. I still have lots of things to do," Chen Nuo said. "There should be plenty of orders in the kitchen; go handle those orders first. When you are done, I have something to discuss with you."
Hearing that there was a matter concerning him, Sun Wukong immediately responded, "Alright, Master. I understand! I’ll go take care of the orders. Once I’m done, I’ll come to find you."
"Mm, you go ahead," Chen Nuo said. "Also, tell the kitchen to not come looking for me, whether it’s something important or not. I’ll come out when I’m finished with my work."
"What are you doing, Master?" asked Sun Wukong.
"I’ve just received a Demon Core, preparing to purify it soon," Chen Nuo answered. "It’s for Tian Peng’s breakthrough."
Hearing this, Sun Wukong got excited. If not for knowing that he couldn’t enter Chen Nuo’s room, he might have already pushed the door and entered, "Master, there’s no need to trouble yourself. Let me help instead."
Chen Nuo used his mana to push Sun Wukong out by five meters, "If there’s nothing else, hurry along!"
Sun Wukong scratched his head and then went back to the kitchen to start processing orders.
After pushing Sun Wukong out again, Chen Nuo took the Demon Core out once more and began the alchemy process according to the instructions given by the system.
Since this Demon Core was inherently a core, it didn’t require an alchemy cauldron for refinement; simply removing the impurities would suffice, but the difficulty lay in that removal process.
To call them impurities was somewhat of a misnomer; actually, they weren’t really impurities, but they were substances mortals couldn’t absorb. To make use of a Demon Core, one couldn’t just swallow it directly; these inabsorbable materials had to be first removed.
