Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 712 - 711: An Excited Xiong Daoren
Upon listening to Monk Guangzhi’s words, the Six-Eared Macaque thought about how last night it was he who incited that monk to go and kill their master and disciples and then take the Kasaya. Now that the Jinchi Elder was dead, he was acting as if nothing had happened.
"What do you mean by that? Could it be that you had long coveted that Kasaya, then hid it away, which led to the Jinchi Elder dying of anger and grief, and now you act here as if nothing has happened?"
Monk Guangzhi, already feeling guilty, was at a loss for words upon being pinpointed by the Six-Eared Macaque, stuttering, "No, there’s nothing like that, I didn’t do anything, I really didn’t."
"Is that so?" the Six-Eared Macaque said, squinting at him, "Since you’ve done nothing, then where is my Kasaya? Where did you take it?"
"I don’t know, Great Sage, I really don’t know, I didn’t take the Kasaya," Monk Guangzhi hurriedly knelt down to plead with the Six-Eared Macaque, "I truly didn’t take the Kasaya, I beg you, please spare me."
Xuanzang, observing his demeanor, truly believed that he had not taken the Kasaya, and said to the Six-Eared Macaque, "Wukong, I think he really doesn’t seem to be lying."
The Six-Eared Macaque looked closely at the monk, who was genuinely afraid and kept kneeling on the ground to beg for mercy.
The Six-Eared Macaque snorted coldly, "Hmph, very well, for my master’s sake, I will spare you. But if it wasn’t you who stole the Kasaya, where could it have gone?"
Monk Guangzhi truly did not know; he had indeed not taken the Kasaya, he wasn’t interested in it, merely wanting to offer suggestions to the Jinchi Elder. Hearing the Six-Eared Macaque’s question, he felt a mix of panic and guilt.
"Fine then, since none of you know where the Kasaya has gone, I won’t hold you responsible," the Six-Eared Macaque thought.
The Kasaya was indeed an item brimming with spiritual energy, and if it wasn’t these monks who took it, perhaps some demon nearby saw the Magical Treasure and wanted to claim it for themselves, "Are there any demons around here?"
Monk Guangzhi thought for a moment and promptly nodded, "Yes, yes, further ahead from here, if you keep walking, there’s a Black Wind Mountain, where there’s a Black Bear Demon, perhaps, it was him who took it."
"Oh, you’re so certain?" the Six-Eared Macaque asked, narrowing his eyes, "Has this demon caused trouble here?"
"That’s not the case, but since you asked about a demon, we truly have a Black Bear Demon there, of that we really have no knowledge," Monk Guangzhi said.
The Six-Eared Macaque could not find out anything else from here, so he could only go to the Black Wind Mountain and Black Wind Cave to look for the Black Bear Demon.
He first re-settled Xuanzang here; this place was somewhat safer, after all. Then he himself set off to find the Black Bear Demon.
Following the direction given by Monk Guangzhi, he traveled towards Black Wind Mountain and Black Wind Cave in search of the Black Bear Demon.
Daoren Xiong had just received a treasure and was overjoyed; he had a serpent demon visiting his abode, and to show off, he brought out the Kasaya.
"Mr. Lingxu, take a look at this treasure I’ve just acquired. What do you think?"
Mr. Lingxu took the treasure and touched it, his eyes shining with brightness, but knowing he could not defeat the other, he was envious but unable to do anything, "This treasure is indeed a fine item. Big brother, where did you acquire it from?"
"This thing..." Indeed, such a fine treasure deserved ample praise, but since it was not acquired through proper channels, Daoren Xiong felt embarrassed to say it outright.
He had originally planned to put out a fire and then saw someone else’s treasure and took it with him. With an awkward laugh and a wave of his hand, he said, "Well, this thing... it’s not important, the Kasaya as a treasure is truly a fine piece, isn’t it?"
Mr. Lingxu, seeing that he didn’t speak, didn’t ask either. After all, even if he asked, he wouldn’t be able to get a second one. Since the other party chose not to tell, there must be a reason, so he didn’t probe any further.
Daoren Xiong looked at the kasaya with increasing fondness. Moreover, having been cultivating the Dharma for years without taking any lives, he thought it quite possible that with the aid of this kasaya, he could soon achieve enlightenment and rid himself of his demonic nature.
At this thought, his heart swelled with excitement.
He could almost see how respectfully those from the Heavenly Realm would treat him as a brother and peer. The more he thought about it, the more titillated he became. He felt he shouldn’t keep this joy to himself, he ought to share the news with his brothers. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
The first one Daoren Xiong thought of was Tian Peng, but then he reconsidered. Tian Peng had descended to the mortal realm to become human, and over these years, he had no idea what Tian Peng had been up to.
Ever since they had parted ways in a huff last time, he hadn’t seen him at all, and he had no idea whether Tian Peng was dead or alive.
On the matter of life and death, Daoren Xiong shook his head vigorously. Even though he had become human, he was still Marshal Tian Peng; a camel, no matter how thin, is still bigger than a horse. No matter what happened, Tian Peng wouldn’t be down and out.
They had already agreed not to meddle in each other’s affairs.
If they were to meet, it would have to be at a time of glory. Thinking that he himself was about to achieve enlightenment, Daoren Xiong decided to find Shopkeeper Chen later and ask about Tian Peng.
His birthday was approaching, and coincidentally he had obtained the kasaya. Daoren Xiong thought of it as a double blessing. Taking this opportunity, he wanted to host a grand Buddhist Robe Assembly and take the chance to have a good reunion with his brothers.
"I’m planning to host a grand Buddhist Robe Assembly," Daoren Xiong said to Mr. Lingxu, "I’ll invite my brothers and fellow cultivators to gather together. Mr. Lingxu, remember to come and join."
Mr. Lingxu was naturally going to attend, having been following Daoren Xiong around to bask in his glory. An event like this would also allow him to meet more people.
He patted his chest, "Brother Xiong, since you’ve invited me, I will certainly attend. I’ve recently been engaged in alchemy, and I’ve refined some excellent pills. I’ll bring them with me to show my respect, and I guarantee, once you consume those pills, your cultivation will surge!"
"That’s wonderful," Daoren Xiong said with a smile, "I’ll start preparing for the Buddhist Robe Assembly right away. We must celebrate it in a grand style."
Since he was going to host a Buddhist Robe Assembly, he certainly needed plenty of dishes.
Ordinarily, he focused solely on cultivation in his cave abode and didn’t eat much, but though he might not eat, his guests must eat. After some consideration, he decided to return to Chaos Residence to have Shopkeeper Chen prepare a feast, or at the very least, find Sun Wukong to prepare the meal.
Without delay, after seeing off Mr. Lingxu, Daoren Xiong immediately set out for Chaos Residence.
Upon arriving at Chaos Residence, he found a stranger sweeping the floor. As he approached, the man halted him, "Sorry, but our shopkeeper has stepped out. If you’re here to eat, you’ll have to wait for our shopkeeper to return."
"Your shopkeeper?" Daoren Xiong eyed the man; he was sure he had never seen him before and asked, "Who are you? I’ve never seen you before."
"I am an attendant at Chaos Residence. It’s normal that you haven’t seen me, I’ve only arrived here recently," the man replied, "Are you here to dine? If you have a delivery drone, you can place an order through it, there’s no need to come all this way."
Daoren Xiong, a bit irritated by the man’s presumptuous tone, said, "Do you think I’m less aware of Chaos Residence’s situation than you are? I was coming here before you even arrived."
