Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 460: Meeting in the Underworld by Coincidence
Nuwa was somewhat impatient, "Do you think this child can still live like an ordinary mortal now? She has been adopted by Chen Nuo for one day, which means her everything is no longer within the Five Elements. Only when Chen Nuo stops taking care of her will her life return to its original trajectory. What I am doing now is not contrary to reason."
"But Your Highness, what Chen Nuo does is his own business. He is not part of Heavenly Court, and what he does does not need to take Heavenly Court into consideration. Moreover, even if Chen Nuo stops taking care of that mortal, she will not be able to return to her original life trajectory," Xuan Feng said.
"You don’t need to say anymore." Nuwa didn’t want to hear Xuan Feng’s persuasion; once her mind was made up, she would no longer consider other matters. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Moreover, she had considered her actions carefully. If one day Chen Nuo no longer adopted the young girl, he would naturally take care of everything before leaving, so the little thing that she was doing naturally wouldn’t amount to much.
"Your Highness!" Xuan Feng still wanted to say something, but Nuwa was no longer interested in dwelling on such a trivial matter with her.
"If you don’t want to go, then I’ll go myself."
"Don’t, Your Highness, please, let me go instead." Seeing that Nuwa’s mind and spirit were unwavering, Xuan Feng stopped trying to dissuade her. But such physical labor was something Nuwa had never done before, so Xuan Feng could only take the initiative to take it on.
"No need, you’re too cautious to handle any major task." Nuwa did not plan to pass this task to Xuan Feng and intended to do it herself. She stood up and left the cave abode.
Long before Nuwa had left, Chen Nuo had already guessed what would happen next. For the first time in over a year since opening the store, he closed up shop and, knowing the way well, headed straight to the underworld. Unexpectedly, he ran into Nuwa just as he arrived.
At the entrance of the Earth Realm, the gatekeeper ghosts recognized Chen Nuo, but they did not recognize Nuwa. They greeted Chen Nuo and then asked with a smile, "Mr. Chen, is this lady your partner?"
"No, she is..." Chen Nuo started to introduce her but, considering Nuwa’s special identity, he did not explain too much, simply saying, "She’s a friend of mine."
Both of them carried an air of Immortal Qi, so the gatekeeper ghosts did not associate Nuwa with mortals and did not hinder them much, opening the gate for them to pass through.
As they walked towards Yama Hall, Nuwa spoke up, "Actually, I am here to..."
"You don’t need to say it, I already know what you want to do," Chen Nuo snorted, "You’re here regarding Xi’s matter, aren’t you?"
Nuwa was taken aback by Chen Nuo’s response, "How do you know?"
Chen Nuo just smiled and didn’t explain further, only saying, "In my territory, there is nothing I don’t know about."
Nuwa, hearing Chen Nuo’s words, suspected that Chen Nuo must also have Divine Skills like herself, only unlike her, his abilities were unrestricted; he could hear everyone’s innermost thoughts.
She had only told Xuan Feng about coming to the underworld to help the young girl. Although Xuan Feng was a sentinel spirit, her abilities were only limited to herself. Also, the fact that she and Chen Nuo arrived at the underworld simultaneously meant that even if she had told Chen Nuo, he still shouldn’t have been able to arrive so quickly.
"Could it be..." Nuwa walked and questioned Chen Nuo, starting to wonder if the Divine Skills Chen Nuo possessed could possibly be the same as those awakened by others—that he, too, could own any Divine Skill once it was awakened by another.
Nuwa did not verbalize her thoughts, but Chen Nuo already knew everything that was on her mind. However, he wasn’t worried at all; such mutually beneficial situations would still bring people to Chaos Residence, even if told to others. Moreover, his actions were transparent, he never did wrong, and thus he had nothing to fear.
"Haven’t I already said that in my territory there is nothing I can’t do?" Chen Nuo didn’t plan to explain to Nuwa, both of them being smart enough to understand that some things are better left unsaid.
Nuwa did not ask further; she knew Chen Nuo was a good person, and even though he possessed so many powerful Divine Skills, he had never done a bad thing.
On the contrary, when in the mortal world, he was even able to help mortals. Knowing his secret, she would not tell anyone.
However, Nuwa stealthily glanced at Chen Nuo beside her. He was quite tall, dressed in a dark blue long robe that swayed with his movement, adorned with golden patterns which made him look very distinguished.
Nuwa couldn’t help but blush, grateful that the place was dim enough to hide her flushed face from suspicion.
There was a considerable height difference between the two, with Nuwa’s head barely reaching below Chen Nuo’s ears. She pretended to look casually at Chen Nuo’s jawline, which was smooth and well-defined. She wondered, could Chen Nuo have heard all the things she previously thought?
"Not everything," Chen Nuo suddenly spoke, "I’m not that malicious. Unless necessary, I wouldn’t activate telepathy."
"You!" Nuwa quickly covered her mouth, then realizing it wasn’t right, she covered her chest and shook her head, "You really can hear!"
Chen Nuo smiled, "Since you’ve already guessed it, I see no reason to keep it from you."
"You could have at least warned me; it’s quite startling." Nuwa held her chest, worried about Chen Nuo discovering her random thoughts.
"Alright, I’ll stop teasing you," Chen Nuo walked ahead a few steps, "We have urgent matters to deal with. Once they are resolved, you can ask me anything, and I’ll tell you."
"Really?" Nuwa looked up at Chen Nuo, "After all, this was your secret. Aren’t you afraid I’ll spread it around?"
"I trust you," Chen Nuo said as he walked, glancing back at Nuwa, "unless you’re not Nuwa, but the eavesdropping divine being Xuan Feng."
"Of course I’m not Xuan Feng!" Nuwa hurried to clarify, "Besides, with your mana, you would certainly see through who I am."
"Then there’s nothing for me to worry about," Chen Nuo said, "Even though we haven’t known each other for very long, I trust your character and know you wouldn’t tell others, right?"
This rhetorical question carried trust, rekindling the warmth on Nuwa’s face. She nodded, "Yes, I won’t tell others. Thank you for trusting me."
"Here we are," Chen Nuo pointed ahead at the great hall.
Last time they had visited the judge’s hall, but this time they wanted to learn about He Xi’s mother’s reincarnation, which might put the judge in a difficult spot if they approached him directly.
Not wanting to inconvenience others for his own sake, Chen Nuo decided to head straight to Yama Hall to seek an audience with Yama.
At the entrance of the hall, the guardians with heads of a bull and horse stood guard. They had never seen Chen Nuo and Nuwa before. Upon their arrival, they immediately blocked the entrance.
"Who dares to intrude upon Yama’s Earth Realm?"
Chen Nuo bowed deeply, "I am the owner of Chaos Residence, hoping for an introduction to Yama."
Fortunately, the reputation of Chaos Residence was significant enough. The guardians exchanged glances. They had heard about Chen Nuo’s last visit but had not met him in person.
Now, seeing Chen Nuo in front of them, they hurriedly bowed, "We have long admired the renown of Chaos Residence’s owner. Please wait here; I will inform Yama immediately."
The guardians bowed to Chen Nuo and left the entrance. Though pressed for time, their need was not so urgent that they couldn’t wait at the doors for the return of the two envoys.
