Chapter 97: Father isn’t a stranger to fame.
" And, done." Emily said triumphantly. Lucuis nodded with a happy smile after she took the last bite of her meal. He then took a napkin to gently wiped the lingering stains from her cute little mouth before she could protest.
" There, now you’re all done." He said, even while she stared at him with puffed up cheeks.
Without even being told, Su had already walked over and taken the tray from the duo before leaving the room.
" So, what would you like to do next?" He asked calmly.
" What?" Emily blinked her beautiful round eyes.
" I’m asking if you had anything else in mind for today. Isn’t there something you usually did to pass the time?"
" There was... But why do you want to know, I thought you’d be busy right after eating."
" And why is that?" He questioned with a look of intrigue.
" Because Sister Su always seemed busy and tired all the time, she works for you, which means she’s always helping you with work, right?"
" Umm... True but I’m not as... Busy... As I used to be." Lucuis said, not wanting to ruin the moment with mistakes from the past.
" You said there was something you usually did to pass time."
" Yes... But the old man isn’t around." Emily said dejectedly, she let out a sigh before turning to face him. " What about you, anything you’d like to do?" She tilted her head a bit, asking with genuine innocent curiosity on her face.
" Me?" Lucuis was caught of guard by her question. As a child he expected her to say things like playing lots of times or maybe a tea party? Well perhaps she hadn’t done a tea party before considering her background...
’ Stop it, what am I even thinking. That’s quite rude of me...’ he reproached himself.
" I was planning to head over to the mansions library like I usually did. Would you care to join me?"
" A.. Library?" She blinked her eyes with a blank look on her face. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
" You’ve never heard of a library?" He raised a brow.
The little one hurriedly shook her head, snapping out of her stupor. " No, of course I have." She shook her little hands Infront of her.
"It’s just that..." She began gently rubbing a finger along her cheek with a shy expression. " Library’s are usually expensive... And Mr Freeman told me that nobles were usually the only ones who used them so I haven’t really seen one before."
’ Oh my...’ Lucuis felt pity for the little one. To think she hadn’t experienced such pleasure before. Well it sounded reasonable since he recalled that during the point in time in his old world, books were supposed to be expensive and treasured things, the fact that mostly nobles were the frequent users of such establishments meant that the owners feared allowing just about any tom, dick or harry entering their libraries and messing with their book, the library’s fees also served as quite the deterrent as well.
" Well then today’s your lucky day. Care to join your father for the first time."
" R-Really?" Emily said with expectant eyes.
" Why not?" He chuckled in a humorous manner.
’ I mean I practically own the place since I’m basically amongst the only few who visits the darn place.’ He joked to himself.
He glanced around the room for a moment. ’ Su will probably catch up with us later on.’
Lucuis then used both arms to lift Emily into the air before catching her again. " Well, what are we waiting for." He said right after, making the little one giggle.
’ A guy could really get used to this.’ He thought to himself, after everything he’d been through since arriving to this world, dare he say it, this little angel seemed to be the most blissful of all.
’ No wonder that vicious woman dotted on her so much.’ he snickered inwardly.
He gently set her down before holding her hand, the both of them then made there way to the library hand in hand, along the way, those who saw them, whether Servants or guards, all had peculiar looks on their faces, some trying their best to hide their astonishment, while others secretly worried, wondering what the cold young master was planning on doing to such an innocent little angel.
Emily was oblivious to such things since the only thing in her mind at the moment was the fact that she’d finally get to visit a library in person, all thanks to her new dad.
" Is this the place." Emily eyes stared at the huge doors leading to the library behind, upon their arrival.
" Yes." Lucuis nodded, before asking with a teasing smile. " Want me to do the honours?"
" Yes yes yes!" She said excitedly. Who would’ve thought a child would love books so much.
Perhaps it was just her own curiosity towards meeting a new place, either way, the sight was a treat to the eyes.
Lucuis temporarily let go of her hand before using both hands to gently push the doors open, as the darkness receded and the light advanced, the little ones eyes marveled at the sight before her.
Seeing the countless books on shelves upon shelves really took her little breath away. But she snapped out of her daze when she felt a gentle hand hold hers once more. Her little head turned to look up at Lucuis who looked down at her with an amicable smile.
Together, the both of them walked in. They found a spot to sit in, which was Lucuis’s own original spot. The little one sat next to him, her eyes still eyeing the multitude of books before her as if hell bent on finding one to read for herself.
" Your free to pick anyone you like."
’ So long as it isn’t something inappropriate.’ he said to himself.
" Alright." Emily nodded her head, having received his permission, she stood up and went to get a book, Lucuis stood up shortly after to get a book of his own as well.
" This one." While in the midst of skimming through the books on a shell, she returned to him with a book in hand. The book was quite thin if he had to say, preferably the size of an average novel.
