Interstellar Beast World: All My Husbands Are Powerful and Rich!-Chapter 52: Finally Back
"Female Master, this Gravicar was custom-designed for you by Starlight Prime Tech this year," Dax said as he gestured toward the sleek vehicle. "Its controls are simpler, its speed far exceeds standard models, and its defensive systems are significantly reinforced. Take it for a test run and see how you feel about it. If it doesn’t suit you, we can always replace it with another."
Rory stared at him, utterly stunned.
Had the universe flipped upside down today?
This was the same fox who counted every coin twice before spending a single credit. And now he was offering her something like this? What was going on?
"You’re... giving this Gravicar to me?" she asked slowly, disbelief coloring every word.
Dax took in her shocked expression and smiled, his usual sharpness softened by warmth. "I’m your match," he said gently. "And one day, I’ll be your mate. Everything I own—including myself—already belongs to you. Compared to that, how could a Gravicar even be considered a gift? It was always yours."
Rory had seen this model before while browsing Starlight Prime Tech’s official listings. There had been no price displayed—only a discreet note indicating that pricing was available to qualified buyers. She knew what that meant. The Gravicar’s combat capability rivaled that of a small battleship. The company didn’t bother advertising its cost because most males would never be able to afford it anyway.
Only those with terrifying amounts of wealth could even see the number.
Something felt wrong.
Very wrong.
Dax was annoyingly frugal. If he was suddenly acting generous, then he had to be aiming for something far more valuable in return. But Rory was broke. Even if she added together every star coin Paros and Jasper had ever given her, it still wouldn’t come close to covering the cost of this Gravicar.
So what could Dax possibly want from her?
Her?
If that were the case, he would’ve pursued her outright long ago. But he hadn’t. Back then, he hadn’t shown any intention of becoming her mate at all.
Her gaze drifted downward to the black bird nestled quietly in her arms.
No... that couldn’t be it either.
Burnt dumpling was disliked by everyone except her. There was no way Dax wanted him.
Just as her thoughts tangled into knots, Jasper walked over.
"Rory, why haven’t you boarded the Gravicar yet?" he asked calmly. "Do you not like the one Dax selected for you?"
Her eyes snapped to him.
Jasper stood there composed and immaculate, his combat suit fastened neatly, his posture relaxed and refined. He wasn’t showing his tail, and his expression was as gentle and courteous as ever.
She had heard rumors before—because females were so scarce in the interstellar world, many males...
No.
No way.
Absolutely not.
Jasper is mine.
Her heart jumped violently at the thought. Rory shook her head hard, as if she could physically dislodge those ideas.
What was she even thinking?
She must have lost her mind.
"Rory, what’s wrong?" Dax asked immediately, concern flashing across his face.
Jasper’s brows knit together. "Are you feeling unwell?"
"No—no," Rory said quickly, waving her hand. "I just think this Gravicar is too expensive, and I—"
Both males visibly relaxed. For a moment, they had thought something serious had happened.
Jasper reached out, taking the Gravicar capsule from Dax and placing it gently into Rory’s hand. Then he opened the vehicle door and helped her inside himself.
"Rory," he said softly, "Dax is your match. You don’t need to be so polite or guarded with him."
Although Jasper didn’t particularly like Dax, he knew the truth. Compared to Paros, Dax was the better choice—especially after the incident with the Chitinid. Dax had been willing to sacrifice half of his lifespan to save him.
Jasper never mentioned it aloud, but he remembered that debt clearly.
Dax followed them into the Gravicar, smiling at Rory with quiet sincerity. "Female Master, Jasper is right. I’m your match. You don’t need to hold back with me. The more you rely on me, the more I feel valued and needed. That’s what makes me happy."
To them, being needed by Rory meant everything.
It meant they had worth.
It meant they wouldn’t be abandoned.
Abandonment didn’t always come in the form of rejection. Sometimes, it was quieter—being set aside, forgotten, never seeing her again for the rest of their lives. That slow, lingering pain frightened them far more than death ever could.
To be loved by Rory, only to lose her afterward—that fear was a torment beyond words.
Rory studied Dax carefully.
Has he really changed his mind?
Does he truly want to be with me now?
The Gravicar surged forward, its acceleration smooth and soundless. The difference was astonishing. When she had traveled to the forest, the journey had taken nearly an entire day. On the return trip, it took just two hours. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
It didn’t even feel like traveling.
It was as if she had been sitting on her living room couch for a short while—and then, suddenly, the interstellar hospital of Veridan City was right in front of them.
The doctor performed a full examination and confirmed that Rory was perfectly healthy. Only then did both Jasper and Dax finally relax.
Rory also asked the doctor to examine Kather.
Dax’s kick had caused internal injuries, but thankfully, they weren’t severe. Two healing potions were prescribed. With proper rest, Kather would recover within a few days.
When they returned to the villa, Rory immediately felt the exhaustion catch up to her.
"I want to take a shower," she said.
At once, Jasper reached out and took Burnt dumpling from her arms.
That ugly thing had been in her embrace for the entire trip—and now it wanted to follow her into her room?
Absolutely not.
Jasper hadn’t even been inside her room himself yet.
"Rory, go rest," he said seriously, holding the bird firmly. "I’ll take care of Burnt dumpling for you."
His tone was steady and reassuring, leaving no room for argument.
