Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1448: Tired determination
Chapter 1448: Tired determination
The entire dimension began to shake again, and Rain heard the sound of something being smashed... he immediately was able to tell that Hilo was decreasing the proportions of the dimension in order to make things easier for him and harder for Rain. That was quite troublesome since he was using too many resources and wasting so much time against Rain... but at least that was motivating him a bit and making his brain work better than usual.
"I never thought that I would be able to think about this kind of thing, but it seems that my neural functions are operating better than usual. I suspect that some of us improved faster than the others because of this kind of thing; even though we were originally nonorganic beings, we still could be affected by emotions."
"What are you blabbing on about..." Rain furrowed his eyebrows. fгeewebnovёl.com
"I was planning to save energy by decreasing the dimension and having an easier time against you, but I changed my mind. Instead of that, I will use the extra energy to make the flow of time here pass slower. It will be interesting to see if your friends will be able to survive my army in the meantime and if they will try to come here and join the fight. It will also be interesting to see if they can survive the Black hole as well."
At that moment, something snapped In Rain’s head... that happened a few times before, but only because the enemies truly pissed him off. Hilo wanted to try that, but he failed in the way that he had planned...
"I guess I am getting too old to get real pissed at the enemies..." Rain thought and then sighed.
He was getting old and dulled to let most things annoy him like before, but Rain still could get angry at some things. He wouldn’t lash out like before, and he was about to become a grandfather, after all... it was time to show the enemy the knowledge and experience that he got with age.
Rain let Hilo decrease the proportions of the dimension before doing anything. Thanks to that, they could now see the extremities of the place in the distance... the endless white of the dimension now looked like a transparent sea in all directions that was moving around, trying to expand and contract at the same time... Hilo finally would be able to attack Rain without giving him many chances to dodge, but soon he looked at Rain in the eye and realized that something had changed on him.
Rain’s eyes, once clouded with nervousness and doubt, now showed a different expression altogether. Gone was the uncertainty that had plagued him before, replaced instead by a steely resolve tempered by weariness. There was a weariness in his gaze, born of countless trials and tribulations, yet it was tempered by an unwavering determination that burned bright despite the odds.
In those tired eyes, there was only one thing that mattered: a singular focus that eclipsed all other concerns. Rain’s gaze was fixed unwaveringly on one objective: the end of Hilo. There was no room for hesitation or second-guessing, no space for doubt or regret. There was only the relentless pursuit of their goal, driven by a sense of purpose that transcended mere survival.
It was a sight to behold, that tired determination shining through the depths of Rain’s eyes. It spoke of battles fought and hardships endured, of sacrifices made and losses suffered. And yet, despite it all, there remained an unyielding spirit—a refusal to back down in the face of adversity.
"I am only her father, so I don’t need to be there when she becomes a mother. I am only their grandfather, so I don’t need to be there when they come... I am not either of their most important people, but I still will be there..." Rain declared. "And you won’t take that from me."
Rain raised his guard and then appeared in front of Hilo. He immediately fired the dark beams toward him and bombarded his body, but Rain ignored that and then smashed Hilo’s face with a barrage of punches. The attacks made Hilo’s body shake to the point that the dark beams were stopped, and he was pushed away for dozens of meters... the stupidly long health bar above him shook for a while as if it was showing the damage that he had received, but soon stopped.
Hilo soon turned his head and then looked at Rain with surprise in his eyes... he was punched dozens of times by attacks of the same level as the previous one. No wonder he received so much damage... Still, what surprised him was the fact that Rain ignored the pain that he had suffered while he was attacking... the dark beams of void energy created large holes in his body, ignoring his defenses and taking several levels of his skills... but Rain ignored that. Moreover, those holes began to close quite fast... and Rain’s presence didn’t get any weaker...
"He should have used a lot of mana to heal himself this fast... but his mana isn’t decreasing. Is he using another source of energy?"
Hilo didn’t feel his own energy decreasing more than the damage that he had suffered, so Rain clearly didn’t use Energy Absorption against him... it was obvious that he had more than a few tricks up his sleeve, but Hilo couldn’t tell what it was... what he could tell was that Rain wouldn’t be able to fight if he has too many of those holes in his body... the fact that he stopped to heal himself was proof enough of it.
Instead of just pointing a few fingers at Rain, Hilo opened his hands, and then massive cannons of void were fired at him... and pierced his body completely. There was no resistance.
The expression of shock on Rain’s face made Hilo relax a bit... finally going all out had been the right choice, but soon he realized that something was off... Rain’s body began to distort.
