Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1447: Cancelling
Chapter 1447: Cancelling
"It can even erase matter..." Rain thought and then clicked his tongue in annoyance.
In the end, Rain began to teleport around as fast as he could. The dark lightning bolts began to miss him, and he avoided being hit. All of a sudden, Rain teleported in front of Hilo and punched his face, which was moved to the side slightly since Rain’s fist was covered with the dark ice.
The look in Hilo’s eyes didn’t change at all, nor did his health bar show any results on the fight so far... still, he was getting more impatient than anything. Rain kept teleporting around and punching the enemy, but soon, he was forced to stop as the dark ice in his fists began to crack.
In the moment Rain flinched, the enemy turned around and pointed a single finger at him... in the next moment, he fired a beam of darkness from it that made Rain feel a shiver run down his spine... out of reflex, Rain teleported away to the distance and dodged the attack... he moved so further away that Hilo was but a small point in the distance.
"If an invisible attack can erase my skills and experience... what a Concentrated attack like that could do..." Rain thought and then took a deep breath.
"It will probably erase you out of existence," Elisabetha said. "Forget about dying, I would bet that even your spirit would be deleted."
That thought alone was more than a little bit nerve-wracking... in the end, Rain took a deep breath to relax. He knew that his life would be in danger from the very beginning, but he just didn’t expect that things would be like that... Rain had considered using Energy Absorption to block that kind of attack, but it was obvious that the technique wasn’t at a high enough level to pull it off.
"What is wrong? You don’t seem as eager to fight as before. Why is that? Do you fear death? Or did you actually have come thinking that you would just waltz around and defeat me with ease?"
Hilo’s silence often annoyed those around him, his brooding demeanor a constant reminder of the mysteries that shrouded his thoughts. Yet, it was when he finally spoke that his presence became truly irksome. His words, though seemingly innocent and laced with genuine curiosity, had an edge that cut through the air like a sharpened blade.
There was something about the way Hilo spoke, a subtle nuance in his tone that hinted at a deeper understanding, a knowledge that far surpassed the realm of ordinary comprehension. It was as if he were probing the very fabric of reality itself, asking questions that struck at the heart with unnerving precision.
His inquiries, though ostensibly innocent, carried with them a weight of implication that left those around feeling unsettled and uneasy. It was as if he were peering into their souls, unraveling the layers of their being with a single glance and laying bare their deepest fears and desires.
After taking a deep breath, Rain teleported back to his original position. With a clear mind, he realized that running away was a waste of time... that dimension belonged to Hilo, so he could do everything he wanted. Attacking and defending would be much easier than in the real world.
Hilo stopped deleting Rain’s experience for a moment to study him. Rain felt like a rare caged animal, but he didn’t let that bother him... most of the strategies that he came up with to face Hilo were useless in that situation, but he considered his adaptability his best weapon.
Soon, Rain proved that by summoning another pair of dark ice gauntlets on his fists. Hilo couldn’t help but blink... that kind of attack could cause some damage, but literally only millions of punches of that level would be able to put him in danger... when he thought of that, Rain suddenly appeared in front of him and punched him in the face with all his might.
The attack contacted, and Rain kept pushing it for several seconds... The dark ice didn’t crack, and the machine god, much to his own surprise, was pushed away for several meters.
"I see... you are using Loks aspect against me. Compressing a large amount of mass in order to make it harder to destroy and also increasing your attack power."
Usually, the enemy would feel pissed in that kind of situation, but Hilo was too dispassionate even for that. Still, that served Rain well... or so he thought. Hilo pointed his index fingers at Rain and then fired the dark blasts at him to erase him from existence... an attack of that level couldn’t be disguised, so Rain teleported to avoid the attack... but soon Hilo fixed his aim and attacked him again.
When one of the blasts was about to hit him, Rain used Space Shielding to redirect the attack, but only a small fraction of the attack was directed... the shield was erased in the blink of an eye, and Rain was forced to move away again.
"It can even cancel spells... I bet it can cancel skills as well," Rain thought. "This will be troublesome if he has enough time to keep using that spell to counter my attacks."
Hilo made a quick strategic decision to cease utilizing that particular skill, recognizing that its consumption of energy outweighed its effectiveness in combat. Despite the considerable use of power, the results it yielded were lackluster at best. It became apparent that the skill’s true value lay in its ability to catch opponents off guard, particularly when Rain was in close proximity and had limited opportunity to evade incoming attacks. freёnovelkiss.com
By reserving the skill for moments when Rain’s movements were restricted or when there was no time for evasion, Hilo could maximize its impact and ensure a higher likelihood of success. This tactical adjustment allowed him to conserve energy for more crucial maneuvers while still leveraging the skill’s potential to devastating effect when the circumstances were most advantageous.
