Chapter 1440: Black hole

"I guess he likes to collect stuff," Rain said.

"This isn’t time to joke around... I am not effective against these creatures," Elisabetha said. "At this rate, everyone will have to destroy hundreds of those machines in order to win this battle."

That will be difficult, but if they survive that... it would be the same as acquiring strength that would take months, if not years, to obtain. With that in mind, Rain couldn’t help but lured a bit by the promise of experience. He also wanted to kill as many of those things as possible in order to increase his chances of victory... even if by only 0.1 percent.

In the end, Rain stopped to think for a moment and then considered his chances... eventually, he had an idea and began to work on it. Everyone wanted to know what he was doing, but they couldn’t tell since he wasn’t showing any skill being activated, at least not the skills that they could see...

In any case, Rain put the plan in motion after revising all the places where he found that massive army of dark sentinels, and after that, he resumed his journey toward the center of the enemy territory.

Despite the apparent success of Rain’s advance, a nagging sense of unease was in the back of their mind. The smooth progression of events seemed almost too perfect, raising suspicions that the machine god orchestrating these developments was luring him into a carefully laid trap. The feeling of being led down a path filled with hidden dangers worried Rain’s senses, prompting him to remain vigilant and wary of potential pitfalls.

Moreover, Rain couldn’t shake the unsettling notion that his actions were being silently observed and even encouraged by the other machine gods. The prospect of destroying one of their allies appeared to elicit a subtle sense of satisfaction from these entities. While such possibilities remained speculative, the possibility that the other machine gods were manipulating events for their own benefit painted a picture of cunning and shrewdness.

The realization that he might be a mere pawns in a larger game orchestrated by the machine gods left Rain feeling both apprehensive and deeply unsettled. The notion that their every move could be part of a grander scheme, with motives and consequences beyond their comprehension, showed the complexity and intrigue of the machinations unfolding around them.

Rain put his mind on the game when he suddenly received those notifications... At the same time, he began to feel something weird in the distance. When Rain used Remote Viewing, he didn’t find anything like usual... Even when he approached the skill, nothing happened aside from the fact that the skill began to consume more mana.

"I can’t sense any intentions, so it must not be him, and I haven’t found out yet," Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "It could be some sort of field where it causes issues for mana to be used."

The skill began to get experience like crazy, but at that point in time, it was better to use more mana for that instead of keep wasting it... Rain stopped using Remote Viewing and then began to think.

It was fair to guess that Holi created this invisible field, all in order to make his enemies wary of this since their energy would be consumed faster.

"Something that can make energy be sucked faster and faster, even energy as it gets closer, and it is related to the void aspect..." Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "All of the possibilities aren’t all that good."

"Why don’t you say that it is a black hole already?" Elisabetha asked.

"I didn’t want to jinx ourselves, but then you went and did it," Rain said and then sighed while furrowing his eyebrows.

It made sense that the creation of a black hole would be part of the void aspect... nothing can escape a black hole, after all.

"Black holes form when massive stars undergo gravitational collapse at the end of their lifecycle. When a star exhausts its nuclear fuel, it can no longer support itself against its own gravity, leading to a collapse. If the star is massive enough, this collapse can result in the formation of a black hole," Sakaki said. "At the center of a black hole lies a gravitational singularity, a point of infinite density and zero volume. This singularity is where the mass of the collapsed star is concentrated, creating an intense gravitational field. Surrounding the singularity is the event horizon, a boundary beyond which nothing, not even light, can escape the gravitational pull of the black hole. Once an object crosses the event horizon, it is inexorably drawn towards the singularity, with no possibility of escape."

"Thanks for the usual explanation, Sakaki wagon," Rain said. "Anyway... what are the chances of the enemy being hidden inside a black hole?"

"It is hard to say... not even now we can make experiments with a black hole, so all that we know is theoretical," Sakaki. "If Hilo can control everything regarding the black hole, I can’t imagine why he wouldn’t be able to do so."

The perfect defense... using a black hole as a shield was simply insane, and since light doesn’t escape from it, they couldn’t see it. They could only sense it...

"Black holes are among the most powerful gravitational objects in the universe, exerting an incredibly strong pull on surrounding matter and light. However, there are a few scenarios in which a black hole’s growth or existence can be affected or stopped," Sakaki added. "Despite being voracious absorbers of matter and energy, black holes can emit a form of radiation known as Hawking radiation. This radiation is a result of quantum effects near the event horizon and causes black holes to slowly lose mass over time. In theory, if a black hole were to lose enough mass through Hawking radiation, it could eventually evaporate entirely, ceasing to exist."
