Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 121: Hurd Family, Ruler’s of Dourstad City
"How are we going to get them? His fight with Elder Arnold killed two horses in the first carriage," Amber asked, pointing to Joe, who had been fighting fiercely against Elder Arnold.
Aiden saw it clearly. However, after checking the contents of the carriage, he saw that it was not carrying any goods—just a regular transport carriage.
Aiden didn’t pay much attention to that. His focus was on the horse-drawn carriage carrying the goods.
"Let’s leave that carriage. We should focus on the other carriages behind it," explained Aiden, focusing his attention on the nine goods carriages they had to deliver to Dourstad City immediately.
Amber and the others nodded. They obeyed Aiden, helping each other direct the horse-drawn carts in different directions. If the Ulrich family group had taken the left route earlier, they now had to take the right route at the intersection.
[Objective:]
[1. Kill Elder Liam Ulrich] [CLEAR!]
[2. Kill Elder Arnold Ulrich] [CLEAR!]
[3. Send the looted goods to the Hurd family in Dourstad]
[Group: Independent Group 7th]
[Group Leader: Aiden Aswald]
Aiden opened the mission panel and saw that the two objectives had been completed: killing Elder Liam and Arnold. Now, they only needed to complete the final objective: delivering the looted goods to the Hurd family in Dourstad.
The digital map opened, displaying the navigation route from their current location to the city. According to the navigation map, they would arrive in Dourstad in two hours.
"We need to move quickly. If we wait too long, I’m worried we’ll arrive there late at night," Aiden replied.
Amber and the others nodded. Aiden and Aurora stepped forward, leading the convoy of goods, while Amber and Rachel guarded the right and left sides, and Joe stayed at the back of the line.
Although they had defeated Ulrich’s men and all his guards, Aiden remained vigilant. Night was a dangerous time, especially for women or merchants.
They walked along the main road connecting the city, passed the first intersection, and took the right route. From there, they only needed to walk straight along the road to reach Dourstad.
"What’s actually in those goods?" Aurora asked, curious enough to turn around.
She was shocked to see Amber holding a bottle of wine in her hand, still sealed. Aurora shouted at Amber, calling her reckless.
"AAAHH! You took this goods?!" snapped Aurora, Amber annoyed.
"Huh?! What do you mean? It’s mine, I bought it for a moment like this," explained Amber.
"Why didn’t I know? Why didn’t you tell me?" Aurora asked, Amber pouting and turning away.
"You!"
Right in the middle of the argument between Aurora and Amber, Aiden raised his hand and stopped the procession of goods. Rachel and the others stopped too, as did Aurora and Amber.
"What’s going on, Aiden?" Amber asked.
"Something’s wrong," Aiden said firmly.
"Get ready. I hear fast footsteps coming from around us," Aiden explained.
Aurora nodded. She drew her sword and prepared to fight again, as did Amber and the others. Aiden pulled his spear from behind his back, instantly turning it into a flaming spear.
"I already know where you are. Why are you hiding?" Aiden asked firmly.
Just as Aiden had suspected! Seven people arrived wearing black robes, their positions forming a circle around Aiden’s group from all directions. This was enough to make Aiden wary.
"Are you bandits?" Aiden asked.
"Tell me, which noble family do you serve?" asked a man wearing a black robe and a face covering.
"We are guards from one of the Reinhard noble families. We were tasked with delivering this item to the Hurd family in Dourstad."
"Hurd?"
Aiden and the man continued to stare intently at each other, as if both were trying to intimidate the other. Aurora and the others also remained on guard. They waited for Aiden’s command to attack the mysterious persons.
"May I see your letter of passage?" asked the man.
"Tch!"
"Here is the letter," explained Aiden.
Aiden gripped his spear tightly, then swung it sideways. With that movement, a large flame slashed forward, striking the mysterious man.
The man was startled, trying to block it with the two daggers he was holding, but due to the force of the attack, his body was thrown backwards.
"Damn it! What are you doing, you bastard?" asked the man.
"Attack them! Don’t let them get near our goods!" Aiden ordered, and everyone obeyed.
Aiden leaped forward, swinging his spear. The man continued to dodge and defend himself, refusing to attack. However, he kept questioning Aiden’s motives.
"You want to stop us here, don’t you?" Aiden asked.
He swung his spear sideways, then from top to bottom, creating a forward-pointing cross pattern. The man, once again, defended himself and did not attack Aiden. He kept saying that he only wanted to know if Aiden had a trade permit for the caravan.
"I don’t have it!" Aiden said firmly, swinging his spear downward to create a fire spell attack in front of him.
The man dodged with a quick movement, then narrowed his eyes and moved in a flash of gray light. In an instant, the man was behind Aiden, pointing his dagger at Aiden’s neck.
"So, which family did you rob it from?" the man asked.
Aurora and the others looked forward, watching as Aiden’s life was threatened. When they tried to walk closer, six members of the group blocked them.
"If you all come any closer, I’ll slit his throat!" threatened the man.
"That’s from Ulrich!" explained Aiden.
The man seemed startled, continuing to stare at Aiden’s face. Finally, he pulled back his dagger while sighing. It seemed he had threatened the wrong person.
"You must be Reinhard’s team?" asked the man, stepping around to stand directly in front of Aiden.
"How did you know?" asked Aiden, startled.
"HAHA! Our mistress told us. She assigned us to help escort you to Dourstad," explained the man, opening the hood of his cloak.
"So, you are—"
"Team, that’s what we’re called. Never introduce yourselves as the Independent Group. The feud between the noble families is real, you could get killed because of your carelessness," explained the man.
"I’m Feyd. I’m the leader of Team Hurd," explained the man, extending his hand.
"I’m Aiden, leader of Team Reinhard."
"Good, because you defeated Ulrich. That makes our task a little easier," explained Feyd.
Feyd turned around, signaling his men to release Aiden’s group. They obeyed, and they began introducing themselves to Aurora and the others.
"I thought you were bandits," explained Aiden.
"Bandits no longer dare to roam the trade routes. You’re too cautious," revealed Feyd.
"Come on, we’d better get going. Mistress Hurd is waiting for you in the city." Feyd invited Aiden to walk with him. Aiden nodded, though he still didn’t fully trust Feyd.
He turned his head, asking Aurora and the others to get moving again. The convoy of goods resumed its journey towards the city of Dourstad.
Feyd explained that he had been waiting for this mission for a long time, but no group from Reinhard had dared to take it.
"Our mistress received a message from Sir Henry. He said that one of his teams would be assigned to seize important items belonging to the Ulrich family and bring them to Hurd as an apology," replied Feyd.
"An apology?" asked Aiden.
"Our mistress’s relationship with Sir Henry is quite complicated. But they are still good friends," explained Feyd.
From a distance, they could see the city of Hurd lit up by the light of night. Not only that, but there was also a long queue at the city gates, where visitors and merchants were being checked by gate guards.
It was Aiden and his entourage’s turn to be checked. However, Feyd took over. He took out a special badge and showed it to the two gate guards. This immediately made the two gate guards obey and allow Aiden to enter.
"What did you do just now?" asked Aiden. Feyd smiled slightly.
"Nothing. Come on, we need to go to the Hurd family residence."
Aiden nodded, occasionally glancing back to see Aurora and the others still following him. Aiden smiled.
The city’s beautiful appearance was clearly visible before them, almost identical to Lunor City. However, for some reason, the city was shrouded in shades of purple and navy blue.
Up ahead, they saw a luxurious mansion with purple walls, adorned with beautiful flowers in the charming garden. Feyd began to explain to them.
"Welcome to the Hurd family residence."
Aiden nodded, seeing how grand and prestigious the residence of the noble rulers of Dourstad City was. One of the servants approached Feyd and spoke to him.
"You’re back early, Mr. Feyd," said the servant.
"I’ve brought good news. Tell Mistress Rose that Reinhard’s team has arrived," replied Feyd.
"Mistress Rose is waiting in the living room," explained the servant.
"She wants you to bring her one sample of each item. She’s too lazy to go outside," explained the servant.
"That woman, even though she is charming, shouldn’t be welcoming her lover’s team like this, right?" asked Feyd.
"What?!"
"Henry and Mistress Rose are lovers?" Aiden was shocked.
’Poor Helen,’ Aiden explained.
"You’ll find out more when you meet her."
"Come on, don’t keep the old lady waiting."
