Flash Marriage with A Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 88: What’s the Logic
Jessie didn’t expect Kevin to care so much about this matter. It was indeed a bit careless of her. After all, she had given him the gift as a token of her gratitude.
"Mr. Harper, I’ll make another special one for you next time. Don’t be upset."
Looking at Jessie’s cheerful expression, Kevin couldn’t help but feel annoyed. While he was feeling frustrated, she seemed completely unbothered, even having a carefree smile on her face.
"I’m not upset. I just can’t believe how you could casually give it away, especially to..."
He was, in truth, suspicious if Jessie was aware that Steve liked her. But seeing her so carefree, she probably didn’t know.
She burst into laughter. "Mr. Harper, we’re just normal friends. It’s just a simple gift. Aren’t you being a bit too sensitive?"
She would have been angry before, wondering why Kevin thought of her like this. But now, she found him exceedingly endearing, even making her feel like she wanted to tease him.
"If giving it to him means I have feelings for him, then today I also gave Miss Rossi a gift. Does that mean I have a crush on Miss Rossi?"
Hearing the first part, Kevin’s expression relaxed a bit. But after hearing the latter part, he couldn’t help but frown slightly. This girl really said whatever came to her mind.
However, he quite liked her honesty. It meant that she wasn’t pretentious, always up to speak out what was on her mind.
"Miss Rossi? Miss Rossi from Rossi Group? Why did she come to see you?"
He had always wanted to know more about Jessie’s thoughts, but he didn’t know how to bring it up. Today was a perfect opportunity.
Jessie casually recounted how she had run into Julia, not sparing any details to Kevin.
"Today, Miss Rossi came looking for me to vent her issues and tell me her feelings for President Harper. She’s head over heels, yet nobody in her family supports her, making her feel very miserable. She said I’m the only one who has her back, so she came to me for advice."
Hearing this, Kevin raised an eyebrow slightly.
To his knowledge, Jessie had not been in any significant relationships, and her previous boyfriend was a jerk. So, he was curious about what she had advised Julia and asked.
"What did you say to her? Do you have much experience in this area?"
She waved her hand and sat on the sofa. "Don’t flatter me; you know what kind of person my ex-boyfriend was. I don’t have any strategies. In terms of relationships, I really have no experience at all. But..."
Shifting her tone, she glanced him up and down before directly saying, "But at least I have more experience compared to you, Mr. Harper. You get all worked up just because I tease you with a few words, and you always keep your guard up against me."
"Jessie." Kevin’s face turned serious. "I heard that Miss Rossi has a willful and unruly nature. If you give her misguided advice, and she finds it useless, she might come back to trouble you."
Jessie pouted. "I only gave her some advice, and it’s not like I guaranteed her that it would turn out effective. I merely suggested she frequently approach President Harper and chat more about work matters. After all, he wouldn’t be able to refuse work-related topics, right? In such interactions over time, they will naturally have solitary moments together and slowly brew their feelings for each other.
"Words are just words. Human connections need actual contact. I feel like the reason President Harper doesn’t like Miss Rossi is that they haven’t interacted much. I’m curious to see what he looks like, but unfortunately, I only almost caught a glimpse of him last time. He was surrounded by too many bodyguards, so I had no chance to.
"Even the media hasn’t captured any photos of him. Their confidentiality is superb. For so many years, keeping women at bay—either he has an issue regarding his sexuality, or he’s just unbearably arrogant. After meeting with Miss Rossi, I feel like she’s quite nice. If President Harper spends time with her, he might eventually fall for her."
Hearing this, Kevin could feel his anger simmering. He clenched his fists and reassured himself several times to refrain from exploding.
"I advise you not to say such things. I think it’s impossible for President Harper to like Miss Rossi. Moreover, forcing himself to be around someone he doesn’t like is suffocating. Be cautious. If he already hates such actions and ends up suspecting that you’re the one orchestrating everything from behind, you might get in deep trouble."
Upon hearing this, Jessie’s eyebrows furrowed as she retorted, "If that’s the case, then he must have a pretty narrow perspective. Liking someone isn’t wrong, nor is pursuing them.
Furthermore, rumors suggest that he isn’t that young anymore, but he’s still unmarried. But Miss Rossi is still bold and eager in expressing her love; he should just accept that."
Kevin’s complexion darkened. Why was he suddenly being perceived as an old man?
He suppressed the emotions bubbling within. If it weren’t for his great amount of patience, he might have revealed his identity then and there. The more frustrating thing was that Jessie kept questioning his sexual orientation.
"He’s only thirty, but he’s already being considered as an old man?"
"I mean, what if he looks old-fashioned or exudes a mature vibe? Without being seasoned and capable, how could he possibly manage his subordinates as a president? He wouldn’t be in his current position had it not been for his ample qualifications and skills."
Jessie spoke earnestly, though he knew better to maintain a calm façade.
"Plus, thirty is considered old, right?"
Kevin clenched his fist, steadily gazing at her. "Care to repeat that?"
Only then did she realize that he was almost the same age. She quickly retracted her words.
"Sorry, I didn’t mean it that way; it’s just how it came out."
She swiftly changed the topic, "Anyway, Miss Rossi and I have quite a good connection, and I genuinely like her bold and decisive nature. After all, President Harper doesn’t have a companion yet—her way of chasing him isn’t wrong. She even claimed that if he was already in a committed relationship, she would step back immediately and never intervene.
"Her values are correct, so I support her actions."
Hearing this, a plan formed in Kevin’s mind.
Perhaps he should have directly informed Julia that he was already married.
