In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL]-Chapter 218: Unprecedented Take Over (3)
"You’re a noble, but also an esper?" Rise felt like he could understand it, but also not. In any case, he never felt the need to use his brain much when he was with Kamille.
Why would he? His Guild Leader would explain everything to him.
Kamille nodded. And he began to explain.
"Nobles are a race just like humans. And espers are primarily what it’s called for ability users."
When putting it like that, it was actually easy to understand. Kamille was not a human but a noble and an esper. Just like human ranks, they were ranked by their title.
Rise actually already got it the first time, but he could not believe it somehow. Thinking of it this way, he never thought nobles needed guides, too.
That made sense, too. Rise was never exposed to the realm beyond the gates and had no impression of who exactly they were.
"Nobles also had that distinction? I thought," Rise played with Kamille’s hair and smiled as he continued. "All of you have powers."
This was a very common misconception. Nobles were feared, and so prying into their civilization seemed taboo, which was odd in some way. Not to mention, gathering information about them was impossible.
As for asking one noble? One should worry about their first before interacting with a noble.
When he was a human, Kamille had the same misconception. On earth, nobles were deemed humanoid monsters, which was the reason everyone thought there was no distinction among them besides the ranks, of course.
"It’s a civilization, no different than humans. It’s only more powerful; besides that, they seem very similar to me."
Kamille had yet to set foot in the realm beyond the gates, but the inheritance could give him bits and pieces and some impression of what the realm and civilization were like.
"Oh?" Rise suddenly became interested. He had always been curious but had no one to ask. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
And even if he encountered them, it was unlikely they could have a good conversation either.
"They are fighting and stuff too?" Humans loved internal fights the most. Rise enjoyed watching, though. It was pathetic, but that was more fun. "Do nobles do politics too?"
It might be a dumb question, but Rise thought they had a primary goal. He even assumed that the nobles were minions of the author.
Kamille chuckled. Sometimes Rise was too cute to resist. Only Kamille would be able to look at Rise like that. "Cute" to describe Rise was definitely a first.
"Of course. Nobles aren’t united." This was certain. Kamilel did not need his inheritance to know; his instincts alone could prove it.
While he did not feel the same repulsive feeling when looking at a human as he did at the noble he encountered, Kamille, at the core, disdained them. Perhaps that was because of the disparity of their ranks.
"So, are we fighting different noble forces?"
Kamille hummed. "Yes. I can’t tell you about their factions. I also don’t know." He shrugged, lacking any interest in the matter.
Rise was slightly more interested than he was, but as Kamille, his only source, was also not familiar, it was useless to press on the matter.
Also, Rise felt like that noble matters were a long way ahead for them at this point. At least, Rise was not someone to worry about matters that had yet to truly affect him.
They would need to deal with nobles too, sooner or later, but not right now.
"But you should be... a leader-like noble?" Rise laughed, not sure what he was talking about. "You’re a Grand Duke, that’s a higher-ranking noble, isn’t it? Do you think you have some faction in there?"
Kamille paused, stroking Ayen’s waist.
"Maybe."
Kamille was not fixated on such factions, but Ayen’s question reminded him of the leader of that organization he had killed. The one who claimed to have awakened him and worshipped him until his death.
Until now, Kamille had no idea about his mysterious birth or why he was in the human world in the first place. He vaguely sensed that something was at play behind the scenes, but pursuing it was another matter.
He was preoccupied at the moment and had no time to spare to explore his origins.
Rise stared at Kamille, as though wanting to see through his thoughts or something else; Kamille let him as always.
"You’re so handsome." Rise bit his lips and moved his brows up and down. "Why are you so handsome, huh, Kamille?"
The very unpredictable Rise, someone who could jump into conversations in a heartbeat. Kamille was accustomed to it. It instantly put a smile on his lips.
"Because you like it."
Rise paused. "Wow. You’re being corrupted in real time, Guild Leader."
Kamille shook his head, amused, and caressed Rise’s cheek with his right hand. His crimson pupils stared deeply at Rise’s eyes as though wanting to suck him in.
Who was corrupting whom...
The two did not do freaky stuff in the end and just kissed sloppily, then passionately, before going back to the lazy ones. This was how they spent the hours before the grand takeover.
Baby, the behemoth slept the whole time peacefully, not minding the two masters on its back.
While they were waiting calmly, the others could not afford to be as leisurely as they were. The foreboding feeling shrouded everyone’s spirits.
Everyone was an ability user and professional and could sense something in the air. The leaders of the Three Nations began to put up guard. They began to put in strict surveillance.
The clan leaders remained the same. Despite the sudden strict regulations and surveillance, none of them complained. This made it all the more suspicious.
They knew it too, but they weren’t told to act. Just like what happened to them, the moment that the net closed in, their fate was already sealed.
The building they used was not up to standard, at least compared to the grand headquarters for Central City. That was included in the destroyed area.
The location did not exactly matter.
Zarilan looked up at the gloomy sky. This has been a normal sight for years now, but for some reason, the feeling was worse than usual. He adjusted his suit and put on the jacket.
"Father," Zenos called, his expression tense. "Everyone’s ready."
Zarilan nodded; he glanced at his son and put his hand on Zenos’ shoulder. It felt heavy, just as the responsibility that was on his own shoulders. "This is our only chance. Zenos, be ready."
He was getting old. It was time to retire.
