Chapter 89: Chapter 89

She decided to call on Macaron through their mind link. ’Macaron, can you travel to Aurélien right now? I need you to be my eyes...’

<How can I track the person if I don’t know who they are?>

’Don’t worry, I’ve already put a tracking chip on her clothes,’ Remillia thought, glancing at the red dot blinking on her smartwatch. ’Just update me when you’re here so I can tell you where to go—’

Before she could finish her thought, she felt a familiar weight on her left shoulder.

<Master~>

Remillia looked to her side and saw Macaron perched on her shoulder. She blinked in surprise. "I forgot you can also teleport."

Macaron ruffled his feathers proudly, and Remillia couldn’t help but smile, grateful to have him by her side.

"This will be the one you’ll be watching," Remillia said, showing a picture of Annabelle to Macaron.

Macaron gave her a suspicious look.

"What?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

<Don’t tell me... you’re into gir— aack!>

Before he could finish his sentence, Remillia smacked him lightly on the head. "You’ve got the wrong idea! I’m suspicious about her partner. Keep an eye on him, too, since he can alter his appearance."

<Ohhh so you’re jealous then? Who’s the man?>

Annoyed, Remillia shoved him off her shoulder, "Just go look for them!"

<Do you want me to search the whole city? At least give me their location!>

"Nope! Make sure to find them or else you’ll be living on the forest forever."

<You wicked master!>

"I’ll give you a reward if you can find them," Remillia added with a smirk.

Macaron brightened up at the promise and finally flew off.

Remillia sighed and started heading back to the restaurant where Cypher was waiting. She hoped Macaron would be able to gather useful information. The appearance of Thorne in Aurélien gave her the chills. ’I just hope that his leader is not here.’

On her way back, her phone suddenly started ringing and when she saw who it was, she picked up the call.

"Whitney, is something wrong?"

"Oh it’s nothing. Is Cypher there with you?"

"I’m going back to where I left him, why?"

"Well, we’ll be attending a masquerade ball later, Angela and Edge already agreed. How about you guys?"

"Huh? Aren’t you afraid of Senior Zachary’s punishment?"

"Oh, please. We can handle that and besides this ball will be starting early so we have time to attend and have some fun before we leave."

"Sur-" Her words was cut off when she heard Macaron talking in her mind.

<I’ve found them and I overheard them talking about going to a ball.>

’That was quick.’

<Don’t forget about my reward.>

’Don’t worry about it.’

"Remillia?" Whitney asked her again when she didn’t heard Remillia on the other side of the phone.

"Huh?"

"I said, if you and Cypher wanna go to the ball with us?" Whitney repeated her question again.

"I’m sorry but I have something to do later."

"Do you want any help?"

"No need, but since I’ll also be leaving Cypher, you might as well ask him to be your partner for the ball."

Whitney was a little doubtful on what Remillia will be doing later but totally forgot about that as she was asked to be partnered up with Cypher. Eager to stir up some jealousy in Angela, she quickly accepted the offer and thanked Remillia.

’Hehe, I can’t wait to see Angela rolling on the floor filled with jealousy.’

Whitney quickly called Cypher, asking him to be her partner for the masquerade ball later that evening. However, Cypher immediately refused, saying, "I’m not interested," and abruptly ended the call.

"Unbelievable," Whitney muttered to herself, feeling a mix of frustration and amusement.

She knew that Cypher’s feelings for Remillia made him difficult to persuade, but she also knew that if Remillia asked him directly, he would likely agree. With this in mind, Whitney decided to call Remillia again, hoping to convince her to help change Cypher’s mind.

"Remi, I need your help," Whitney said as soon as Remillia picked up.

"Spill it out."

"Well, I asked him but he refused. Can you be the one to tell him instead?"

"Huh? He refused? Strange, he’s not like that. Did you ask him nicely?"

"Yeah, but he’s not budging! If you’re the one who’ll ask, for sure he’ll do what you will say to him immediately."

"Well of course! You know how he is, Cypher’s just too kind with everyone."

Whitney can’t help but roll her eyes. Yeah, he was like that but ever since he met you, he seemed to change. "No, he’s only kind when he’s with you," is what she wanted to say but stopped herself.

Remillia continued, "I’ll tell him to call you again when I finally meet him."

"Thanks again Remillia."

Cypher must accept this, I still have to show Angela that I got to be his dance partner at the ball.

When Remillia finally got back, she saw Cypher sitting on one of the benches just outside where they ate, his head hung low.

"Cypher," she called out as she approached him.

He looked up, his expression a mix of confusion and concern. "Remillia? Where have you been?"

"I had something to take care of," she said, taking a seat next to him on the bench. "I just got a call from Whitney. She wanted you to be her partner for the masquerade ball, but you refused. Is there a reason why?"

"Well... I wanted you to be my partner at the ball," he shyly looked at the other side.

’He acts like a puppy sometimes.’

Remillia tilted her head while smiling at his behavior, "I can’t go to the ball, I have something to do later. You should go with Whitney instead."

Cypher’s eyes widened with surprise. "Are you sure? I mean, if you want to go, I’ll... I’ll just tell Whitney that I can’t go."

Remillia shook her head gently. "No, really, it’s fine. Whitney’s excited about the ball, and I’m sure she’ll appreciate having you as her partner. It’ll be a good chance for you both to enjoy the evening."

Cypher looked conflicted but finally nodded. "Alright, if you say so. I’ll go with Whitney then."

Remillia smiled, relieved that he was willing to go along with the plan. "Thanks, Cypher. Have fun, okay?"

"I will," he said, standing up and giving her a reassuring smile before calling Whitney.

As Remillia watched Cypher leave, she rolled her neck slowly, feeling a mix of relief and anticipation. "Now, shall we also get ready for the ball?" she thought to herself.

Meanwhile, Cypher dialed Whitney’s number, his tone notably cold. "Whitney, I’ve decided to be your date for the masquerade ball. I’ll meet you at the venue later."

Whitney, on the other end of the line, was very thrilled and ignored the chill on his voice but she doesn’t care as long as she can get Angela to be jealous of her.

"Great! Now meet me at this boutique, ’Rouge Noir’. I’ve sent you the location so you better be fast, we still need to choose a suit for you."

While she waited for him to come, she entered the boutique and automatically 2 female staffs from the boutique accompanied her.

"Miss Whitney! Great seeing you here!" said one of the staffs.

"What are you looking to wear for today?"

Whitney said, "a dress for a masquerade ball this afternoon," while browsing their catalogue.

"We have new arrivals for today and are limited editions, care to come with us?"

Whitney’s eyes lit up at the mention of limited editions. "Absolutely, lead the way," she said, following the staff deeper into the boutique.

The boutique, Rouge Noir, was known for its luxurious and exclusive designs. As the staff led her to a private section, Whitney admired the elegant gowns displayed around her. Each one was more stunning than the last, and she could already feel the excitement building for the masquerade ball.

"This section is reserved for our VIP clients," one of the staff members explained as they reached the exclusive area. "We’ve just received a new shipment of gowns, perfect for an event like tonight’s masquerade."

Whitney’s eyes gleamed as she scanned the selection of dresses. There were gowns in rich fabrics and vibrant colors, each adorned with intricate beadwork, lace, or embroidery. She ran her fingers over a deep emerald green dress with a sweetheart neckline and thought about how it would complement her features.

"Does this one caught your eye? You can try it out if you want," the staff said eagerly, noticing her interest.

"It’s stunning," Whitney nodded. "But I want to see a few more options before I decide."

As they continued browsing, Whitney couldn’t help but think about Cypher, Angela’s reaction and how she planned to make a grand entrance with him by her side. "This night is going to be unforgettable," she thought to herself, her excitement growing by the minute.
