Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Bound to Lose

She glanced humorously at Oliver Gale: "If you ever don’t want to be a doctor anymore, you could become an actor."

Oliver Gale raised an eyebrow, noncommittal.

She didn’t pay much more attention to Oliver Gale; his purpose for calling her over today was quite obvious.

Although she didn’t like dealing with such matters, the sight of these women who resembled Evelyn Windsor inexplicably fired her up.

She walked straight over to Durrell Landon’s side, sat beside him, wrapped her arms around his neck with a hint of intentional seduction:

"Do you prefer someone like me, or those plain Janes?"

Durrell Landon was slightly taken aback but quickly composed himself, even indulging in a light peck on her lips.

"Naturally... I prefer your type."

Hearing this, Quiana Sutton looked provocatively at Director Yarrow, who was kneeling not far away, and said:

"Director Yarrow, it’s really a pity, Mr. Landon doesn’t like those Evelyn Windsor lookalikes you’ve prepared; he likes the kind of woman who can bring down nations like me."

Director Yarrow: "..."

Chloe Summers really disliked Quiana Sutton and had once said that Quiana was a complete enchantress. Not the tacky kind of seductive enchantress, but one who wreaks havoc under the guise of a fairy. If she sets her mind to seduce, no man can resist her allure.

Regrettably, she wasn’t accurate in positioning herself in front of the camera.

Not everyone suits the innocent little white flower persona. Clearly a bewitching enchantress of mankind, yet insists on playing the pure and innocent flower; isn’t she out of her mind?

Once, he too had a slight infatuation with Quiana Sutton, but she was just too cold, getting close felt like being frostbitten. Unlike Chloe Summers’ allure, he gave up on that idea.

Just a moment ago, with just one glance, he had to admit he was bewitched.

He quickly lowered his head, trying to calm himself down.

But found he couldn’t calm down no matter what.

It was clear Quiana Sutton had hooked up with Durrell Landon. He finally understood why Ewan Xyler was representing Quiana Sutton. The poor guy was naively hoping to ask Mr. Landon to urge Ewan Xyler not to take on this case.

The board demanded this matter be resolved; it was now certain the money must be compensated, but under no circumstances did they want it to escalate to court.

He glanced at Quiana Sutton, seeing the disdain in her eyes, assuming she was flaunting her favored status, spoke as gently as possible, hiding his anger: "Miss Sutton, could I have a word with you?"

Durrell Landon toyed with her fingers, never speaking. He was even a bit pleased that she was upset because of those Evelyn Windsor lookalikes. Wasn’t anger an indication that she cared a little about him?

Now, hearing this, his previously smiling eyes flashed with a piercing sharpness: "You want to take her away right in front of me?"

Liam Yarrow was reticently shocked; he could feel Durrell Landon’s anger.

Cursing himself as an idiot, how could he be so muddled-headed, trying to take someone away in front of Mr. Landon?

Even if that wasn’t his intention, others wouldn’t see it that way.

Speaking with a hint of humility:

"Mr. Landon, Miss Sutton had a small disagreement with us at East Emperor Entertainment. We admit our fault and are willing to offer fifty million in compensation."

Durrell Landon looked at Quiana Sutton, an undeniable doting in his gaze: "What do you think?"

She let Durrell Landon play with her hands, her tone indifferent: "I’m afraid... that’s not possible..."

Give her fifty million and then turn around to charge her with extortion?

In her mind, Director Yarrow had no credibility.

She wore a smile, but her eyes lacked any warmth: "Director Yarrow, don’t bother wasting more effort on this; we’ll see each other in court."

Liam Yarrow ended up being kicked out, along with several Evelyn Windsor lookalikes.

Liam Yarrow glared hatefully at the closed door before him, just wanting to curse "bitch."

His resentment toward Chloe Summers deepened.

If it wasn’t for her stirring things up, would it have blown up to this extent?

But there was one thing he was very puzzled about, wasn’t it always rumored in Capital City that Mr. Landon liked Evelyn Windsor?

When did Mr. Landon change his taste? Started liking someone like Quiana Sutton?

Could it truly be because of her devastatingly beautiful face?

...

As soon as Liam Yarrow stepped out, Quiana Sutton immediately pulled her hand out of Durrell Landon’s grasp. She moved too quickly for him to catch.

She shifted a bit to the side, putting some distance between them, and flicked her hair, speaking with a half-smile: "If I hadn’t come today, would you really have taken them to a hotel?"

Durrell Landon turned to look at her, his expression indifferent, though the curve of his lips hinted at his good mood.

"Are you jealous?"

She denied: "No!"

He pulled her into his arms with a long arm, explaining seriously: "Apart from you, I haven’t touched anyone else."

He had a really strong aversion to other’s touch; how could he allow other women to casually touch him?

Even in acting, if necessary, he uses a stand-in; he usually chooses roles with no romantic plots.

She glanced at him, her laugh rolling out like it was from her throat.

"I don’t believe you."

Durrell Landon acted as if he didn’t hear.

Tonight he had a few drinks, but he’s never one to overindulge. Oddly, while he should be clear-headed and rational, holding her brought on a surge of days’ worth of pent-up yearning. Inhaling the intoxicating fragrance from her body was like a consuming poison, nearly burning away his control.

In the end, he merely sighed, holding her a bit tighter.

He felt like a pervert, inhaling her scent, finally muttering:

"You smell so good."

Beside them, Oliver Gale and Julian Haworth: "..."

Though they were both single, they had their pride as single individuals.

Ignoring their presence to flirt was a bit too much, right?

Oliver Gale lazily offered: "Perhaps I should book you two a hotel room? Better there than here if you can’t restrain yourselves."

Hearing the teasing comment, Quiana Sutton pushed Durrell Landon away.

She gave him a faint glance, speaking slowly:

"If you guys really get drunk, remember to call a driver from home, or call a chauffeur. I’m leaving now."

Seeing her about to leave, Durrell Landon immediately pulled her back: "Wait." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Quiana Sutton turned around, looking at him in confusion.

Durrell Landon smiled a bit slyly: "You ought to at least tell me, how long do you intend to stay at Gentle Breeze Cottage? Or perhaps we can revise the agreement; originally, these three months were meant to be fully mine, yet now you’re in breach. However long you stay at Gentle Breeze Cottage, the agreement extends by that time."

Quiana Sutton: "..."

She always felt like she was trapped in a pit.
