Chapter 100: Chapter 100: The Perilous Wilderness Feels Surprisingly Familiar

When Lin Li felt he had completely absorbed all the Spiritual Energy from the Spirit Fruit he’d eaten, he immediately stopped circulating it through his body.

After circulating the Spiritual Energy through his body for a few cycles, Lin Li could feel a slight increase in his overall combat strength.

’Although the improvement wasn’t much, this feeling of getting stronger is so satisfying!’

All in all, the Spiritual Energy in this Spirit Fruit was equivalent to that of a single Spirit Stone. It couldn’t even compare to the Magical Little Fruits from the Magical Little Tree.

Even though he had suspected the fruit from this Spirit Plant wouldn’t be nearly as good as the Magical Little Fruits from the Magical Little Tree, he was still a little disappointed now that it was confirmed.

After all, before eating the Spirit Fruit, which looked like a cherry tomato, Lin Li had even hoped he might break through directly to the Second Order Middle Stage.

’Sigh... anyone else would be ecstatic just to get their hands on a Spirit Fruit. I can’t be too greedy. I’ve got a Spirit Plant that grows Spirit Fruits now; I should be content.’

Lin Li chided himself internally, then looked up at the Spirit Plant he had just planted. He hoped it would grow as fast as the vegetables in his garden, flowering and bearing fruit every few days.

’Alright, enough thinking. The Spirit Plant is in the ground, and I’ll see the results in a few days. It’s getting late out there. Time to head home, get cleaned up, and then go out for dinner.’

Lin Li muttered to himself, then turned and walked toward the small plot of land he had tilled on the eastern side of the Mysterious Small Island.

Before leaving the Mysterious Small Island and returning to the real world, he planned to pick some fruits and vegetables from his field to give to Su Yue when he got back.

This was already the third crop of vegetables he had planted in the field over the past half-month. Just as Lin Li had expected, the second crop of various vegetables was ready for harvest in only seven days.

After three consecutive harvests, Lin Li concluded that pretty much any vegetable planted on the Mysterious Small Island could be harvested in a week.

As for the fruit tree saplings planted on the north side of the Mysterious Small Island, while they didn’t flower and bear fruit in a single week like the vegetables, their growth rate was still astonishing.

In just half a month, the saplings had shot up from 30 or 40 centimeters to 1.2 meters tall. In a few more months, they would probably be able to flower and bear fruit.

Soon, after achieving vegetable freedom, he would have fruit freedom as well.

...

The sun was setting, casting its brilliant red light over the wilds. An occasional breeze rustled the grass, flowers, and trees.

"CHIRP, CHIRP, CHIRP..."

A few unidentifiable birds, perched on branches and chirping intermittently, saw a figure appear out of thin air on the grassy plains in the distance. Startled, they let out several sharp cries.

Having returned to the real world from the Mysterious Small Island, Lin Li glanced around at his familiar surroundings.

For Lin Li, who had just been cautiously exploring an unknown Otherworld, the sight of the wilds before him now filled him with a surprising sense of comfort.

Though the wilds were fraught with danger, compared to that unknown Otherworld, he actually found this place more reassuring.

’The sun will be down in a little over an hour. I’d better head home.’

Holding his Spiritual Longsword, Lin Li got his bearings and started the journey back.

After honing his skills over the past several days, Lin Li could now find his way back to the safe zone without his phone’s GPS, as long as he didn’t venture too deep into the wilds.

"THUMP, THUMP, THUMP..."

Lin Li walked back quickly, following the direction he had determined. He encountered no trouble along the way.

He recalled that just a week ago, when he was active in this area, things were different.

Whether he was entering the area in the morning or returning as the sun was about to set, he would always run into Mutant Beasts hiding in the tall grass.

But for the past few days, that hadn’t happened at all.

Lin Li had given it some serious thought and figured the reason was probably that he had either killed or scared away all the Mutant Beasts in the area.

’I can’t just fish the pond dry. I’ll switch to a different area next time and come back here after the Mutant Beast population has recovered.’

...

SPLASH...

The sound of a running shower came from the bathroom. A moment later, a refreshed Lin Li walked out, wearing a black tank top and plaid shorts.

GRUMBLE...

Feeling a bit hungry, Lin Li went to the living room, grabbed a piece of chocolate from a snack dish, and unwrapped it.

’This should hold me over for a bit.’

He glanced toward the balcony. Judging by the sky, there were still thirty or forty minutes until sunset.

With a thought, a backpack and a black plastic bag appeared in Lin Li’s hands.

He placed the backpack on the sofa and opened the plastic bag to look inside.

Inside the black plastic bag were the cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and eggplants Lin Li had picked a short while ago.

These vegetables from the Mysterious Small Island looked perfect, and they were a good bit larger than the ones sold at the market.

’I’ll take these vegetables to Su Yue, then find a restaurant for dinner.’

Lin Li set the black plastic bag on the floor, opened his backpack, and took out his phone.

After unlocking the screen and opening WeChat, he immediately saw a message Su Yue had sent him around noon.

Su Yue: What’re you up to?

Lin Li looked at Su Yue’s message, scratched his head, and typed back: Not much. Are you home? I’m about to head over to give you some vegetables.

After sending the message, Lin Li thought for a moment.

’If she asks why it took me so long to reply, I’ll just say I took a nap and only just saw her message.’

Lin Li waited for a few minutes after sending the message, but he didn’t get a reply from Su Yue.

He then opened his contacts and called Su Yue, but the call went to a recorded message saying her phone was off.

’Oh well, I’ll just head over. She should be home from the flower shop by now anyway.’

After a moment’s thought, Lin Li went back to his bedroom to change, then picked up the bag of fresh vegetables from the floor and headed out.
