I Returned to the Day He Brought His First Love Home-Chapter 77: Outburst
"Pah! You have people at the station, too?" Grace Winslow cursed. Taking advantage of Gordon Lynch’s distraction, she secretly grabbed the scissors from the desk behind her.
Gordon Lynch scoffed. "Trying to trick me into talking?"
"Dream on, Grace."
"But, you’re not a bad-looking little thing. Nice body, too. If you hadn’t ruined my plans, I might have even treated you well, set you up somewhere nice. But now..."
"You only have yourself to blame for meddling."
As he spoke, Gordon Lynch closed the distance and reached out to grab Grace Winslow.
Grace Winslow gripped the scissors tightly, her heart pounding in her throat.
The instant Gordon Lynch’s hand landed on her shoulder, she gripped the scissors and viciously stabbed them into his arm.
She put all her strength into it, and the scissors plunged deep into Gordon Lynch’s arm.
A scream of agony ripped through the air.
Grace Winslow shoved him away with all her might, grabbed a nearby chair, and smashed it down hard on Gordon Lynch’s head.
She then grabbed whatever she could from the desk—files, a tea mug—and hurled them at him.
Gordon Lynch never expected Grace to actually fight back, let alone injure him. The intense pain made him lose all reason. Ignoring the objects raining down on him, he lunged at Grace, his face covered in blood.
"Grace Winslow, I’m going to kill you!"
"Die! Die! Die!" Grace shrieked, frantically hurling things at Gordon Lynch.
Scissors, pens, notebooks, folders...
Anything she could get her hands on, she threw at him.
He’d already been hit in the head with the chair, and now he was being pelted with more objects. To make matters worse, the wound in his arm was bleeding profusely.
As it turned out, Grace had unintentionally pierced a major artery.
The blood was now flowing uncontrollably.
Seizing the moment while Gordon Lynch was dazed, Grace turned and fled the office.
Gritting his teeth, Gordon Lynch gave chase.
"Help! Help—" Grace screamed as she ran.
The factory’s security department had guards on patrol.
One of them happened to hear Grace’s cries for help and rushed over to investigate.
Grace’s ankle twisted, and she collapsed to the ground.
Gordon Lynch was already upon her.
His face, arm, and clothes were covered in blood—a terrifying sight.
When the security guards arrived, this was the scene that greeted them, and they were horrified.
"Accountant Winslow?"
"Quick, grab him!" Grace yelled. "He’s the wanted human trafficker! He came to the factory to abduct women!"
The two guards’ expressions changed instantly. Without a second thought, they rushed forward and pinned Gordon Lynch.
To keep him from struggling, they knocked him unconscious with a baton.
Gordon Lynch collapsed, his eyes filled with resentment.
Grace Winslow remained slumped on the ground. Her arms and knees were scraped, her forehead was grazed, and she looked utterly wretched.
She struggled to her feet. "Quick, call the police."
The police arrived quickly.
To her surprise, an unexpected person was with them—Archer Rhys.
His heart clenched when he saw Grace on the ground, disheveled and spattered with blood. He rushed over to her side.
"Grace?"
Hearing the familiar voice and seeing the familiar face, the last bit of strength Grace had been clinging to finally gave way. Her eyes rolled back, and she fainted.
"Quick, get her to a hospital..."
One of the officers shouted, only to find that Archer Rhys had already scooped her into his arms.
"I’m taking her to the hospital. You handle things here."
With that, he strode out of the textile factory, carrying Grace in his arms.
