I Returned to the Day He Brought His First Love Home-Chapter 56: This Is Hooliganism
"Grace, Caleb Forrest was your husband once, you know. There’s no need to take it this far, is there? Harassment is a serious crime, and he didn’t really do anything to you just now." A man nearby who was on relatively good terms with Caleb Forrest spoke up instinctively.
Grace Winslow just gave him a cold glance and rolled up her sleeves. Her voice was crisp as she said, "Any act that uses violence, coercion, or intimidation against a woman’s will qualifies as harassment. He dared to get handsy with me in front of all these people. If no one was around, in private, who knows what he might do?"
"I cannot allow myself to be put in that kind of danger. So, what’s wrong with me reporting him for harassment?"
"I don’t think Caleb Forrest is fit to remain at this factory. I suggest that management consider transferring him." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"A deputy director with such deplorable character who harasses female employees... who’s to say he won’t abuse his position to do something even more monstrous in the future? No one can guarantee he won’t."
As Grace’s words faded, those who had been about to speak up for Caleb Forrest instantly fell silent.
Archer Rhys glanced at Grace, a look of both surprise and admiration in his eyes.
He had assumed that a girl who looked as delicate as Grace would simply suffer in silence and pretend nothing had happened when faced with something like this.
He never expected her to be completely unafraid. Instead, she stood her ground and dared to speak up for herself.
This side of Grace was both unfamiliar and captivating to him.
But that captivating feeling vanished as quickly as it came.
"I believe Miss Winslow’s concerns are valid. Everyone here can testify that Caleb Forrest’s actions were indeed suspect of harassment," Archer Rhys stated, his expression impassive and his tone cold.
Seeing the olive-drab military uniform he wore, no one dared to speak.
Caleb Forrest’s eyes reddened with anger. "Bullshit! I’m her husband! I didn’t do a thing, how is that harassment?"
"Do I need to show you our divorce certificate?" Grace asked, looking at Caleb with an indifferent expression.
Caleb was struck speechless.
"Still, my actions just now don’t constitute harassment! Grace, stop making a scene. You..."
"Verbal harassment is still harassment. What? Did you think making a few lewd comments doesn’t count, Caleb Forrest?"
"Do you have any idea how much psychological trauma your words just caused me?"
"I’ll probably feel sick to my stomach for the next month just thinking about it. This has caused irreversible damage to both my physical and mental well-being."
"How are you going to compensate me for that?" Grace cut Caleb off.
Caleb stood with his mouth agape, a sharp pain piercing his heart as he stared at Grace’s ruthless, cold expression.
The commotion downstairs had subsided.
Two police officers came up the stairs.
Now Caleb was truly panicking. "Grace, I can promise I’ll never bother you again! I... I... I just got carried away. I didn’t mean any harm..."
"You don’t regret what you did, Caleb. You just realize you’re finished," Grace said, not even bothering to look at him.
The severity of the upstairs drama was debatable.
It all depended on how Grace chose to handle it.
Naturally, Grace had no intention of letting Caleb off the hook.
She was getting revenge for the grievances of both this life and the last, all at once.
At her insistence, Caleb Forrest was taken away.
His actions weren’t severe enough to warrant extreme punishment—he certainly wasn’t facing a firing squad—but his position as Deputy Director of the textile factory was now on shaky ground.
Megan Aldridge was taken away, along with a few of the more aggressive troublemakers.
The incident caused such a stir that a wave of anxiety swept through the factory. For a while, no one even dared to gossip behind anyone’s back.
The way everyone looked at Grace changed as well.
Before, they looked at her with envy and jealousy. Now, they looked at her with fear.
