Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Your Love Is So Cheap, It’s Disgusting

"Grace." Unable to restrain himself, Caleb stepped forward, about to reach for her.

Grace took a step back, watching Caleb warily. "What are you doing?"

"It’s broad daylight, Caleb. You’d better understand that assault is a crime. You dare touch me and see what happens."

Grace’s words were like a bucket of cold water dumped over Caleb’s head.

He stopped in his tracks, his eyes filled with pain. "Grace, I was wrong. I regret it. I shouldn’t have brought Ivy White home. I don’t know what came over me. Can you... can you please give me another chance?"

"I swear, I’ll treat you right. I’ll never, ever make this mistake again."

"Please, for the sake of our relationship of more than two years, forgive me this one time."

Grace let out a cold laugh. "Caleb, you don’t regret it. You’re just not used to the fact that, after I left, you can no longer find such an obedient, free housekeeper."

"I can’t possibly forgive you, nor can I give you another chance. I hope you never show your face to me again, and I certainly hope you don’t come harass me."

"Otherwise, I’ll report you for assault!"

Grace’s attitude was cold and unyielding, offering Caleb no shred of dignity.

Caleb felt a sharp pain pierce his heart.

"We were so good together. You said you would never leave me in your entire life. Grace, are you really going back on your word?"

"Or is it that you left me so cleanly because there’s another man?"

"Who is it? Is it that man from the hospital room?"

"Caleb Forrest!" Grace couldn’t take it anymore.

"Don’t you dare project your own filth onto me! I’m not as disgusting and shameless as you are!"

"There is no other man, but even if there wasn’t, I could never forgive you. You disgust me!"

"My only regret is not seeing your true colors sooner. I should have been more decisive on our wedding day when I discovered you were lying to me, instead of being indecisive and unable to let go, wasting months of my life for nothing."

"Leaving you, all I feel is relief. Thank god I wasn’t completely blind and didn’t let you keep deceiving me."

"Your so-called love is just too cheap."

"Being loved by you is frankly disgusting."

"Get lost. Stay away from me, and I might be able to think a little more highly of you. Don’t make me look down on you completely."

Caleb stumbled back, his back hitting the wall. He stared at Grace, his eyes wide with disbelief.

’Words like that... were actually coming from Grace’s mouth?’

’Did she really not have any lingering feelings for him at all?’

Grace couldn’t be bothered with him.

She went to the bike shed to lock up her bicycle and then hurried upstairs as if escaping the plague itself.

Caleb watched from downstairs, his heart feeling like it was being brutally ripped to shreds.

He returned home, completely crestfallen.

What awaited him at home were Cindy Lowell’s hysterical shrieks, the sounds of her smashing things indiscriminately, and a house that was a complete disaster.

The clean and orderly home he used to return to each day had only existed because of Grace. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Now that she was gone, this house was no longer a home.

At that moment, Caleb was filled with true regret.

He covered his face, whimpering as he squatted by the door. Vexation, regret, resentment—a torrent of emotions nearly drowned him.

"Caleb! Caleb!"

Cindy Lowell was still screaming hysterically.

She hadn’t just wet the bed; she had defecated in it as well.

The reek of urine mingled with a foul stench, and the smell in the room was absolutely revolting.

She was mortified and furious, yet also in utter misery.

"Caleb, go find Grace Winslow right now! Make her come back and serve me!"

"She accepted our Forrest family’s bride price! Even if she dies, she can only be a woman of the Forrest family!"

"Hurry up and get her back here!"

Caleb, at the end of his rope, stormed into the room and roared at Cindy Lowell, "Stop screaming! She’s not coming back! No one is ever coming back!"

"Why don’t you just die? If it weren’t for you, would Grace have ever divorced me?"

As soon as the reckless words left his mouth, Cindy Lowell, who had been screaming hysterically just a moment before, instantly fell silent.
