I Returned to the Day He Brought His First Love Home-Chapter 30: Digging a Pit
"Grace, that’s enough. What are you trying to do now?" Caleb Forrest’s face darkened, his eyes filled with nothing but hatred as he stared at her.
In his mind, the only reason Grace was causing such a scene was that she loved him too much. That love had turned to hate, and now she wanted to destroy him and Ivy White.
Ivy was already in a difficult enough position as it was.
But Grace just had to bring up her work-related blunder to keep making an issue of it. She was going too far.
"Ms. Callahan, has Ivy been responsible for reconciling accounts or collecting payments from suppliers recently? You should probably check those carefully. I suspect there might be a problem with the books." Grace ignored him and looked directly at May Callahan.
May Callahan thought for a moment. Her expression shifted slightly, and she hurried out of the room.
Ivy looked as if she were about to collapse. "Grace, must you be so ruthless?"
"You already got your job back. What more do you want from me? Are you really trying to push me to my death?"
"Vivi, don’t think about doing anything rash."
"Grace, apologize to Vivi right now!" Caleb demanded, his expression cold, stern, and detached.
Grace simply turned her back. ’This man is an idiot,’ she thought. ’How could I have ever been so madly in love with him?’
’My brain must have been full of crap back then, completely clogged up.’
Now that her head was clear, just looking at him made her feel disgusted.
The very thought that she had once been with him, and had even loved him for so many years, made Grace feel sick to her stomach.
Seeing Grace’s attitude, Caleb was so angry he started to step forward.
Nolan Winslow shoved him back. "That’s enough. It’s not that we’re afraid to hit you, we just can’t be bothered to do it in a place like this. Understand?"
Caleb Forrest’s face turned ashen.
He’d almost forgotten Nolan Winslow and his group were still there.
Unnoticed by Caleb Forrest and the others, Oscar Osborne had already sidled up next to Gregory Winslow. "What’s going on? Your daughter? Getting bullied by that Caleb Forrest?"
"Heh. What do you think?" Gregory Winslow scoffed, giving Oscar Osborne a look.
Oscar Osborne glanced at Caleb Forrest and the Ivy White girl who looked like she couldn’t wait to permanently attach herself to him. His expression turned grim.
Anyone with eyes could see there was definitely something going on between those two.
"Don’t worry, I’ll help you get revenge," Oscar Osborne promised in a low voice.
Gregory Winslow just grunted and said nothing.
Soon, May Callahan returned, bringing someone with her who was carrying a large stack of documents.
At this time, most documents were handwritten, making them thick and cumbersome. Sometimes, one careless mistake with a single number could cause huge problems.
Ivy White had been at the company for nearly a week, and in that time, she had come into contact with quite a few documents, personally handling several of them.
May Callahan had pulled every single one of them.
Oscar Osborne sat back down in his seat, watching as May Callahan and the others reconciled the accounts.
Grace knew which document had the mistake, but it wouldn’t do to point it out directly. She made a show of looking through them for over ten minutes before pulling out a single sheet of paper, her face a mask of surprise. "Hm? This account doesn’t look right. Ms. Callahan, what do you think?"
"Let me see." May Callahan took it from her. The moment she looked at it, her expression changed, and she shot to her feet. "What?"
"Ivy White, who let you handle this?"
May Callahan’s voice was shrill, instantly drawing the eyes of everyone in the office.
Caleb Forrest’s heart skipped a beat; he realized this was not good.
He instinctively glanced at Ivy White.
Ivy shrank in his arms, looking as if she’d been frightened.
"Speak up! I specifically assigned this account to Faye. How did you end up handling it?" May Callahan didn’t coddle Ivy in the slightest, her voice a cold interrogation.
Ivy’s face was deathly pale as she answered meekly, "I’ve been in the finance department for several days, and no one would let me do anything. I saw Faye was swamped, so I just wanted to help ease her workload. Is there anything wrong with that?"
"I’ve already collected the money. Faye even said it’s always been hard to collect from that person."
Ivy mumbled the last part.
May Callahan’s voice rose to a shriek. "Of course you collected it! Do you have any idea what a stupid thing you’ve done?"
"This account is short by a full five thousand! Five thousand! Do you have any idea what five thousand means?"
"Your entire family could eat for fifty years on five thousand!!"
