Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Would You Be Sad for Throwing Away Trash?

"There’s nothing between Ivy White and me, but I can’t say the same for you. Grace Winslow, I never thought you were this kind of person. My aunt told me everything. How could you treat an elder in our family like that?"

"If you just come home with me and give my aunt a proper apology, I can forgive you for everything that’s happened."

"You’d better think this through. If you really divorce me, you’ll be a divorcée. Do you really think you can find anyone better?"

"No man would accept a wife who’s ’used goods.’"

"I’m the only one who truly loves you and will never hold it against you."

"You suspect there’s something going on between Vivi and me, and I don’t blame you. You’re only suspicious because you care about me so much."

"But I absolutely will not tolerate you fooling around with another man!"

Caleb Forrest’s words came out in a rush, a long torrent all in one breath.

He stared intently at Grace Winslow, waiting for her response.

Grace Winslow watched him, her expression blank.

In the past, she had never truly seen the man before her for who he was.

In her presence, Caleb Forrest had always been a fraud, perpetually wearing a mask.

He appeared gentle and refined, but in reality, his words were sweet and his intentions venomous.

All those years, she had been so naive, completely blind to the kind of person he was.

They say love makes you lose your way, robbing you of reason and judgment.

Apparently, it was true.

"Caleb Forrest, I’m not the filthy person you imagine me to be. I don’t know what your aunt told you. There is nothing between that man and me. As for whether there’s anything between you and Ivy White, only the two of you know for sure."

"I thought you were just a hypocrite. I never imagined you were this disgusting and vile."

"Everything you’ve said today has only strengthened my resolve to divorce you."

"Get out of here. If you don’t, I can’t promise I’ll be able to hold my brother back. He hits hard."

Grace Winslow’s voice was calm.

When you’re truly and completely disappointed in someone, you really don’t feel anything at all.

Even though Caleb Forrest had said such disgusting things, she remained perfectly calm inside.

It was a state of absolute tranquility, as if the man before her wasn’t the husband she had dated for over two years and been married to for three months, but a complete stranger.

Disbelief was written all over Caleb Forrest’s face. "You... you just insulted me?"

"You son of a bitch, didn’t you hear what my sister said? Are you going to get lost or not? If you don’t, I’m about to get physical."

Nolan Winslow could no longer control himself. He clenched his fists and started walking toward Caleb Forrest.

Caleb Forrest hadn’t been in a combat unit in the military; in a real fight, he was no match for Nolan Winslow.

Besides, Archer Rhys was standing nearby, looking like someone not to be trifled with and watching him like a hawk.

Caleb Forrest was concerned with saving face; he had no intention of doing something as undignified as getting into a brawl.

But Grace Winslow had just made him lose face, and he was seething.

"Grace Winslow, are you sure you want to divorce me? You should know, once we’re divorced, there’s no turning back. I won’t give you another chance. You won’t regret this?" he asked, feigning calmness as he looked at her.

Grace Winslow scoffed. "Caleb Forrest, when a person throws out a piece of trash, they only feel relieved and happy. They don’t regret it or feel sad about it."

"You—!" Caleb Forrest had been insulted again. His face darkened.

He had come here in a rage, planning to interrogate Grace Winslow, but she had completely deflected his accusations in just a few words.

"You’re being completely unreasonable! A woman like you, so unchaste, already fooling around with another man before we’re even divorced... No man is going to want you after this!"

Now that all pretenses were dropped, Caleb Forrest abandoned his previous charade.

Grace Winslow found it all laughable.

Nolan Winslow, however, was so furious that he lunged forward.
