I reincarnated as an elf .......and married the yandere villainess.-Chapter 72:Viewing
Among the bowing group, one dark elf did not bow. She stood there staring at Lilith with casual boredom and a veiled sense of power that felt pretentious.
Atheline studied her trying to remember if he had ever encountered her but nothing familiar came to mind. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
She was an older elf, it had started to show from the wrinkles on her face. She was draped in expensive silk and jewellery that could feed a nation.
The extravagance was a deep contrast to Lilith’s simple dress, cover, and jewellery. She looked as though she had come for a fight.
"Who is that?" Atheline leaned in and whispered into her ear.
Lilith turned to look at him.
"The regent," she said then added, "She was the strongest in the kingdom. "
The amusement was evident in her voice. Atheline’s eyes widened. In his mind, she was the strongest of the strongest but it seems even the villainess has to start from the bottom.
A ruler will never lack such people under him.
The woman walked down the steps and met them in the middle. She smiled at Lilith before her gaze moved to Atheline.
Atheline felt uncomfortable under her gaze.
"I heard you got married, " she started slowly, " to a high elf at that, isn’t that too impulsive Lilith?"
Atheline’s eyes widened. He had not expected her to call Lilith by her name instead of your majesty.
"What can I say," Lilith’s smile widened," I’m just like my father, I like it and I get it."
Atheline rolled his eyes inwardly. The regent looked at Lilith then chuckled.
"I will be visiting the palace soon," she said and walked away.
Lilith didn’t bother to respond, she continued walking forward each going in opposite directions.
"You seem confused?" She said in amusement.
Atheline nodded.
"She seems more amicable than I want to admit."
He had expected something more than a mere greeting.
Lilth’s hand tightened around his.
"She is," she said her voice reducing," she was the one who supported me in getting the throne. "
Atheline stumbled but managed to catch himself. He turned to get a second look but the regent had already gone.
"How, you two seem like enemies rather than anything, " he said in confusion.
Even he felt like he had been tricked in some way. He had not noticed the difference at all.
"She rarely involves herself in the matters, " she said," I would have been able to take the throne by myself during the rebellion but she just helped accelerate the process."
She paused as though reminiscing.
"She was also my mother’s friend, " she laughed almost humorously," until mother fell in love with the man who violated her and threw friendship into the wind."
She turned to see Atheline’s surprised face. Atheline had never read such a thing in history books but that was understandable since it was obviously a royal family secret.
Lilith’s mother had never been mentioned even once, she was never associated with her parents in the book to begin with.
’That’s sad’
As though understanding his sentiment she chuckled.
"You don’t have to feel pity for her, she was a stupid woman and deserved what came for her eventually," she said without a smidgen of emotion.
Atheline didn’t respond. They fell into a somewhat comfortable silence as they walked towards the small building across from them.
"Isn’t this the dark chamber?" He asked.
His gaze went to the palace that loomed over casting its shadow onto the chamber.
"I’m just going to confirm something then we’ll be going back to the palace," she said while pushing open the wooden door.
Despite the importance she had placed on it during her earlier description. The place looked old. It didn’t look like a sacred ground or mildly important.
She instantly noticed his confusion.
"You’re used to luxury," she began," but this sanctuary cannot be touched since it carries the royal family records. "
’Did I just get called a rich kid’
She came to a stop in front of a stone tablet, the only thing in the small room. Outside the small pond moved with the wind the water hitting the wall of the chamber.
"What’s this," he said while observing the empty tablet.
She smiled and extended her arm towards him. Atheline placed his hand on hers. She pricked his finger dropping his blood on the stone and she did the same.
The stone sizzled before golden letters started to appear on the stone, writing themselves as they read.
"What in the world!"
She let out an amused snort at his shock.
"These are records, only those with the royal bloodline will be recorded here."
On the stone were both their names, woven together and breathing with magic.
"Can anyone see it?" He asked with curiosity.
She shook her head.
"Even the royal family itself would not see their name if they had not been recognised by the goddess."
"But there have only been four changes in the royal family, does that mean every one of them had their names engraved here or..."
"Not only did the first king have his name since he was loyal to his queen but the others as you can imagine failed. "
Atheline’s eyes widened.
"Thats unexpected, your history is much more intricate than recorded."
She nodded.
"You should visit the library, " she said," I’ll assign you a teacher who will help you in your acclimation. "
Atheline nodded. While he fancied himself to be learned it doesn’t mean everything he has read up to that point had been accurate.
They always say, the victor always records history.
"Is there anything else that I need to know," he asked.
She was quiet for a moment as she thought.
"I will need you to start your study for the crowning," she said almost nonchalantly as she touched his name on the table.
"Come again?" Atheline looked at her in confusion.
"You’ll need to prepare yourself for the crowning, to be my king!" She repeated more grounded now.
"I understand that, but it just doesn’t sound believable, " Atheline said expressing his shock," how are your people going to accept that, I’m a high elf not one of you. We’ve already started to encounter resistance. "
Atheline tried to reason with her. She shook her head.
"I don’t care if they accept it or not, in two months you will be crowned my king and anyone who dares to go against me will have to face my blade."
Atheline didn’t want to reason anymore. He seems to keep forgetting how she can rarely be reasoned with.
"Okay, I’ll work hard to make you proud."
