Chapter 20: Chapter 20: I Think You’re Incredibly Stupid

Adrian Quincy had "taken care of" her all night and hadn’t gotten much sleep. Once the car was moving steadily, he leisurely closed his eyes to rest.

The atmosphere was a little awkward...

Claire Sinclair pulled out her phone, wanting to use it, but the battery was dead.

She looked around the car and noticed an unused charging cable plugged into a port in the front. She asked meekly, "Aiden, may I use your charging cable? My phone is dead."

"Of course you can, but first, you’ll have to tell me where you live," Aiden Howkins said politely.

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. ’So he’s been driving around aimlessly for the past few minutes!’

Claire Sinclair said, "I live in the old residential complex behind Moonbeach Community in the Westwood District. Thank you."

"It’s no trouble." Aiden Howkins offered a few polite words and then fell silent, focusing on driving.

Claire Sinclair leaned over, grabbed the charging cable, and plugged it into her phone.

The cable was a little short, so she had to remain leaning over, holding the phone. After a moment, it finally powered on.

WeChat logged in automatically, and the phone chimed a few times as it started up, indicating new messages.

Claire Sinclair opened them. They were all from that scumbag, Logan Linden, and most were a stream of insults and blackmail.

’Fucking moron!’

Without even clearing the messages, Claire Sinclair blocked him. Then, she went onto her social media feed and deleted every photo and post that had anything to do with him...

She was deleting everything with intense focus, each tap forceful. She was completely oblivious to the fact that the man beside her had, at some point, opened his eyes.

Adrian Quincy watched her in silence as she deleted two years’ worth of posts, one by one.

’It was clear her world was simple. Besides her work, it revolved entirely around that man.’

’Judging by the photos, the man was decent-looking, and they seemed happy together. From her captions, it was obvious she was very dependent on him.’

’But... seeing her so determined to delete all those posts, it was clear that things between them were over.’

’For some reason, a strange flicker of joy spread through him.’

After Claire Sinclair finished with her main social media feed, she moved on to other social and payment apps, deleting every trace of the scumbag. By the time she was done, her neck was sore and she felt exhausted.

With nothing left to delete, she set her phone down, sat up straight, and rolled her neck.

Adrian Quincy suddenly spoke. "The one who drugged you—was it your ex-boyfriend?"

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "How did you know?"

Adrian Quincy replied with a single word, "Deduction."

’Does this guy have to be so damn smart...’

’Wait a minute. When I was deleting all those posts... don’t tell me he saw the whole thing?’

’How shameless! He was spying on me!’

’Good thing there weren’t any intimate photos among the ones I deleted. Good thing I never take pictures like that!’

Claire Sinclair let out a sigh of relief. "It was that damned scumbag, Logan Linden. I found out he was cheating on me, and I was on my way to catch him in the act. But then you suddenly kidnapped me! Not only did I not get to catch him, but you also tricked me into this marriage. I have the worst luck!"

"I think you’re just incredibly stupid," the man retorted unexpectedly.

Claire Sinclair bristled at that. "You’re the stupid one! Who could’ve known he’d sneak into my house and drug my water? Luckily, I was quick-witted enough to trick him into going to Quincy Manor. Otherwise... otherwise..."

She couldn’t bring herself to say what would have happened, because she didn’t dare imagine it.

Hearing the angry tremor in her voice as she recounted the events, Adrian Quincy finally grasped the severity of the situation. His expression turned serious. "What happened?"
