I Level Up Dragons with My Evolution System-Chapter 38: Importance of the Regiments

Being more of a military-style academy, the Provincial Academy organizes its forces into regiments. As each student’s strength increases, they have the opportunity to choose one of these regiments.
Joining one means receiving many more resources, both in terms of wealth and honor, as well as resources for cultivation and better access to training areas.
In addition, the Regiments have specialized teachers and carry out high-level missions in different parts of the kingdom and outside the kingdom, which brings great wealth to their members.
The benefits of joining a regiment are high, but there is a problem. Not all regiments receive the same resources.
Therefore, a 1- and 2-star student only has the opportunity to join regiments 11 through 31, which are the ones that receive the least resources and participate in the fewest missions. And once you have chosen a regiment, you cannot leave it.
That’s why it was an important decision.
For those with poor or mediocre talents, joining these Regiments is a very good thing. You belong to a kind of "Brotherhood," you have classmates with whom you can share your learning, and you also have teachers dedicated to teaching you... but you don’t have many resources.
For example, Leo, the 3-Star student, is a member of Regiment Number 23, his classmates here are also members, and the teacher present is one of the dedicated teachers. When Leo joined, he was a 1-Star student, and the resources he was given helped him evolve quickly, until he reached the status of a 2-Star student...
But, then he achieved 3-Star Student status. If he didn’t have this regiment, he could try to join better ones, which would give him more resources. Unfortunately, he can no longer leave. Now he will have to try to become the regiment’s captain in order to obtain more resources.
That’s why choosing which regiment to join is important, especially if you believe your talent will take you far with enough resources.
After all, when you are a 3-Star Student, you are allowed to join more Regiments that grant more resources. With 4 Stars, even more, and with 5 Stars, you could even join the Mythical: Celestial Regiments, the highest level, or you could join the rest of the Regiments as Captain, dramatically increasing your pay.
Now, the thing is that if you don’t have the resources of a regiment, it will be difficult for you to progress, so you are almost forced to join one. But for that, there is something called a "Secondary Recruit."
Certain people who don’t meet the requirements to join a regiment are given the opportunity to join a higher-level regiment as a "Secondary Recruit." But it’s a double-edged sword.
You don’t get as many resources as you would if you were a member of another regiment, but they won’t let you leave once you join. If you don’t grow as much as you expected, you will be a Secondary Recruit forever.
On the other hand, if you grow a lot, you can be promoted to Real Member and you will have great prestige, as well as higher pay for your time of service.
Generally, only those with impressive talent choose this option.
This was a crucial decision in every sense.
For Edward, it’s even more so, because these Regiments handle classified information and have great opportunities once they graduate. If he wants to think long term and think about his father, he has to join one of these.
But he must be careful in choosing.
The first thing he did was shake his head. "For now, I don’t want to join any," he replied.
Owen smiled. "All right, kid. Good choice. If you’re classified as a 3-Star student during the Star Trials, you’ll be able to choose from more than 60 regiments to join, many of which are looking for astute profiles these days."
Edward nodded. He knew that. Although that wasn’t the reason for his choice not to choose for now.
The main reason was that he knew that soon, if all went well, he would achieve the status of a 5-Star Student, and then he would be able to join those legendary Celestial Regiments. The information these guys have is the only thing that can help him find his father.
Now, there’s also the matter of Aurora... She will surely join one of those Regiments, or perhaps she is already in one as a Secondary Recruit. He would like to hear her opinion on which one is best to join.
"All right, kid." Owen then stood up. "Go back to the academy and rest. Get to know the place and take your time to vacation, if you want, but prepare for the Star Trials. The Magical Talent you awaken there could define part of your future, especially... because of the peculiarity of your beasts," he said.
"Thanks for the advice, Professor Owen."
"I’ll leave your 2-Star uniform in your room. Be sure to try it on, I’m sure it will fit you well."
Elder Owen left and the doctor returned to perform the necessary medical checks. There was a lot of information in Edward’s head that needed to be processed, so he decided not to get up for now.
He still had to thank that student for saving him earlier...

On a mountain within the Cursed Land of the Undead.
Three men dressed in black looked curiously at the hole in one of them.
One of them spoke. "There was a fight here recently."
"A fight?" The other two looked at him.
The man who mentioned the fight had something distinctive about him: his eyes were shining continuously. Although his expression was hidden by his black robes, it was impossible to hide those shining eyes.
"Yes. I can see signs of battle everywhere; it seems to have been a prolonged battle," he replied.
"The one who killed the Death Knight, perhaps?" asked the other, and they rushed into the gap.
"It could be," replied the man with bright eyes, and he crouched down inside the gap to study the area.
His eyes slowly scanned everything. The broken bones below, the Death Knight’s armor...
At this point, he frowned and looked around.
"There’s something strange here," he said.
The other two, who had simply been letting him do his job, turned to look at him.
"Yes, what’s strange is that the Death Knight died and there is no clear killer," replied one of them jokingly, shrugging his shoulders.
"No, not that," the bright-eyed man shook his head. "Where the hell is the Death Knight’s body?"
