I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?-Chapter 48: Provoked Insanity
The Imperial Physician, having received his orders, finally handed the silver needles to Ye Qianning. He was puzzled. ’Why would Prince Helian, who usually holds the power of life and death, be so indulgent toward a small child?’
Ye Qianning took the silver needles and prepared to perform acupuncture on the Old Prince.
"Stop! Stop!" The Old Princess Consort was aghast. She rushed over, shielding the Old Prince with her body. "My son, you must be confused! How could you let a mere toddler use needles on your father? She’s Xiang Minghou’s child, which makes her his accomplice! She wants to kill your father!"
"Is the Old Princess Consort trying to stop me because she has a guilty conscience?" Ye Qianning challenged.
The Old Prince already had one foot in the grave.
"Don’t touch him! Don’t touch him!" The Old Princess Consort continued to shield him desperately.
"Someone, pull her away," Prince Helian commanded.
Servants rushed into the room and pulled the Old Princess Consort away. She struggled with all her might, screaming all sorts of vile things.
Ye Qianning paid her no mind. She drew out the silver needles and began inserting them into the Old Prince’s arm. ’Although this won’t neutralize the poison for now, it’s enough to delay its effects for half a day.’
Xiang Minghou now fully grasped the situation. He turned to look at his daughter, who was so intently performing the acupuncture. ’This girl of mine is truly remarkable,’ he thought. ’Brave, clever, and she even knows medicine.’ Most of all, her fierce words defending him echoed in his mind, refusing to fade.
Ye Qianning drew several more silver needles and inserted them into the top of the Old Prince’s head. With the first needle, his breathing grew rapid. With the second, then the third, and finally the sixth needle in place, the Old Prince took a deep breath and opened his eyes.
"He’s awake! The Old Prince is awake!" The Imperial Physician, who had been watching from the side with rapt attention, cried out in excitement upon seeing the man awaken.
Prince Helian hurried forward. "Father?"
Ye Qianning straightened up, stepped back from the bed, and said, "He’s awake now. Prince Helian, you should ask what you need to, so you can clear my father’s name."
"What... what happened?" the Old Prince asked weakly.
"Father." Prince Helian sat by the bed and briefly explained the situation.
The Old Prince remembered what had just happened. Propping himself up on his arms, he sat up halfway. His gaze swept over everyone in the room before finally resting on Xiang Minghou. "General Xiang, you have been wrongly accused."
"No harm done," Xiang Minghou said.
"I’m afraid this old man won’t be able to attend the birthday banquet today," the Old Prince instructed. "Tell everyone to disperse. The Helian Royal Mansion will be sure to host you all again another day."
"Yes."
Prince Helian replied.
The Old Prince’s gaze swept over the Old Princess Consort, and he sighed. ’After all these years, she still hasn’t let go of the past. Today, she almost caused great harm to General Xiang.’
Now that the Old Prince was awake and it was confirmed that General Xiang was not involved, anyone with eyes could see how strange the situation was. Of course, no one dared to say more, and they all quickly dispersed.
Before long, only Prince Helian, the Old Prince, Xiang Minghou, and Ye Qianning remained in the room.
"General Xiang, I will be sure to visit you another day to offer my formal apologies," Prince Helian said, ashamed.
"There is no need, Your Highness," Xiang Minghou said with a wry smile. "However, if not for my daughter today, it seems I would have been facing imprisonment." Inwardly, however, he couldn’t have been more proud. ’My little girl is truly a treasure.’
Hearing this, Prince Helian looked toward Ye Qianning. He hesitated for a moment before asking, "Little girl, can you diagnose madness?"
"I can recognize some of it," Ye Qianning nodded.
"Then is there a way to treat it?"
"It’s rather difficult. However, this illness doesn’t flare up easily without external provocation. Your Highness should investigate who came into contact with the Princess Consort today and find out what they said to her. Furthermore, you must also thoroughly interrogate the servants and guards who were stationed outside the door."
