I Became A Side Character Fated To Suffer-Chapter 48:Did I Messed Up Again?
BOOM!
Elderic slammed his foot again.Another mana burst detonated beneath him, sending him flying upward. The air cracked from the force as he shot forward like a cannonball, his hand reaching out and grabbing Eleanor’s ankle.
"GOT YOU!"
The flames around her leg flickered violently.
"OH HELL NO—"
Heat spiked.
A sudden surge of fire exploded from her ankle, but Elderic grinned.
He poured mana straight into his palm.
BOOM!
The explosion canceled out her flames, the clash of heat and force sending sparks and shockwaves in every direction.
She twisted violently, grabbing his collar in return. Now both of them were suspended mid-air, dangling and clawing at each other like feral cats.
Except now..Fire and explosions erupted between them with every movement.
"LET GO!" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"YOU LET GO!"
"I WAS HERE FIRST!"
"YOU TRIED TO DROP A MOUNTAIN ON ME!"
"That was a warning throw!"
"YOU THREW HALF THE CLIFF!"
CRACK—!
The rock beneath them gave way.
For a split second both of them froze.
"...Oh."
"...We might’ve overdone it."
"Just a little."
Then they started to fell.
"THIS IS YOUR FAULT!"
"MY FAULT?! YOU STARTED THROWING GEOLOGY—!"
Mid-fall, Elderic’s foot touched a falling rock.
Mana surged.
BOOM!
He used the explosion to redirect his fall, swinging himself upward, using Eleanor as leverage.
"I SWEAR IF YOU USE ME AS A SWING—"
Too late.
He did.
"YOU ABSOLUTE PIECE OF—!"
Eleanor’s response was instant.
Flames erupted across her arm—
She slammed her palm into his shoulder—
WHOOOM!
A burst of fire exploded point-blank, blasting both of them toward a nearby ledge.
WHAM!
They crashed into it together. The impact, combined with Elderic’s lingering mana burst, sent a shockwave blasting outward, cracking the mountain surface and sending debris raining down like meteors.
They punched each other mid-roll—
each hit accompanied by either a burst of flame or a localized explosion.
"STOP HITTING ME!"
"YOU’RE IN MY PATH!"
"YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!"
BOOOOM—!
Eleanor kicked him off, with flames erupting from her feet. She flipped backward, using a controlled fire burst to propel herself higher, only—
BOOM!
Elderic detonated the ground beneath him, launching himself right after her, grabbing her cloak mid-air and yanking her down again.
She snapped her fingers and a whip of fire lashed toward his arm, but he turned around to dodge.
BOOM!
The explosion dispersed the flames instantly.
Their voices echoed wildly across the mountains, mixed with explosions, collapsing rock, and pure chaos.
As they were fighting, a figure appeared that moved past like a blur.
Like a ghost slipping through a battlefield.
The unknown figure darted between falling boulders, stepping precisely between Eleanor’s flame bursts, slipping past Elderic’s explosion shockwaves just before they detonated.
Eleanor’s flame-coated fist stopped mid-swing and Elderic froze mid-burst, mana flickering in his palm.
Both of their heads slowly turned.
"...Wait a minute..." Elderic muttered, blinking.
"...Did someone just—" Eleanor’s eyes narrowed, flames dimming slightly.
The figure had already cleared past them.
Gone..
"DAMNN!" Eleanor snapped, fire flaring violently around her. "WHO THE HELL JUST SPEEDRAN OUR FIGHT?!"
Elderic stared at the empty space, mana crackling dangerously in his hands.
"...We just got overtaken in the middle of beating each other up."
Then both of them slowly turned toward each other.
"...This is your fault." Eleanor scolded.
"MY FAULT?!" Elderic fought back.
"YOU DISTRACTED ME!"
....
SWISHH;
A figure shot across the edges of the cliff like a flash of lightning, and it was none other than Reed.
He didn’t even think about stopping.
Behind him, the mountain was still erupting flames bursting, mana detonating, rocks collapsing like the world itself had given up on stability.
"Damn... just what happened to Eleanor..."
He clicked his tongue as he dashed forward, his body leaving behind a blur weaving through the aftermath.
Eleanor and Elderic were supposed to be among the first main playable characters.
Elderic’s behavior? Yeah, that part was normal. Explosive, aggressive, brain slightly optional.
But Eleanor..
"She was supposed to be the sweet, kind, caring one until the later arc..."
His expression twitched.Another explosion echoed behind him.
"What’s up with this bitchy attitude?"
"And wasn’t she mage so why is she involved in a punching brawl."
"Fans who supported her might drink poison seeing her like this."
Shaking his head, he looked ahead.
"Thank God my plan worked."
He glanced down briefly at his boots mid-run, a grin flashing across his face.
That upgrade had cost him almost everything.
Yet it was worth it.
[Speedster Boots]
Increase Agility stats by 15.
The moment he pushed mana into them
His figure vanished.
The world blurred.
The ground barely registered beneath his feet as he shot across the mountain like a streak of light. Wind screamed past him, his body leaning forward as distance collapsed in seconds.
Victory.
In the blink of an eye, he reached the top.
A lone cave sat carved into the mountain peak, silent and untouched.
Reed slowed, boots skidding lightly as he stepped inside.
His eyes scanned around and spotted a flag, planted firmly at the center.
"It’s here..."
His eyes lit up instantly.
"Once I take this out, I’ll be the winner... and I’ll definitely hoard some points."
He stepped forward.
Then paused.
Something felt... off.
Reed turned his head slightly, glancing back toward the distant chaos.
"...I hope Noel’s aggro change worked... and the script actually attracted the experimental beast."
A small grin formed.
"If those two idiots get busy with that, I’m in my golden luck period..Hahah!"
Satisfied, he turned back and walked toward the flag. He reached out and grabbed the pole.
"This is it."
He tightened his grip.
Then pulled.
Nothing happened.
"...Huh?"
Reed frowned.
He adjusted his stance, planted his feet harder, and pulled again with full strength.
The pole didn’t even move.
"The hell... it isn’t coming out."
His brows furrowed deeper.
"What happened now—"
Grrrrrrrrrrr...
The sound cut through the cave.
His head tilted upward and then downward, seeing which his breathing stopped.
".."
"Don’t tell me I fucked up again?"
