Chapter 281: Chapter 281 Principal is stealing miss Alina’s attention

Early the next morning, in the soft light of dawn, Alina finally decided to leave for work. Her aunt was resting peacefully now—her health restored and her heartbeat steadier. What made Alina even happier was hearing her aunt say she had decided to file for divorce. It wasn’t easy, but she was finally doing it for her own peace of mind. Knowing that Ethan didn’t mind the decision brought her even more relief.

Ethan, though still young, stood firmly by his mother’s side, and that made Alina’s heart swell with pride.

As she stepped outside the hospital, the cool morning air filled her lungs, carrying a faint chill that felt refreshing after stressful days. She didn’t know how Dante had managed all the babies in her absence, but just thinking of their little faces waiting for her made her smile. Her heart fluttered with excitement.

Oh my goodness... how much I missed them, she thought with a fond sigh, hurrying toward her car.

When she reached home, she looked through her class schedule and prepared her lesson notes with care. The familiar routine filled her morning with a sense of comforting normalcy. She made herself breakfast, ate quickly, and soon found herself walking toward the kindergarten with a small bounce in her step.

When she entered the staffroom, she saw Gabriel already there, sitting with his usual cup of tea. The soft clink of his spoon against the porcelain filled the air, and when he looked up and saw her, relief immediately softened his face.

"Lina? Are you okay?" he asked as soon as she sat down beside him, concern lacing his voice.

Alina smiled warmly, placing her bag on the table. "Gabs! I’m fine. It was just my aunt—she’d been sick for a while. But she’s fine and healthy now."

Gabriel’s shoulders relaxed as he let out a small sigh. "Thank goodness... I was so worried," he said sincerely.

His words carried a quiet depth that made Alina’s smile falter for a moment. "You were?"

He nodded, smiling faintly. "Of course. Last night, I even tried sending a wave of healing energy your way and to whoever in your family needed it. I didn’t know if it worked, but... hearing this now, I guess it did."

Alina blinked, surprised by his gentle sincerity. "You... really did that?"

Gabriel chuckled softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, I’m an angel, remember? Sometimes we do what we can—quietly."

Her smile deepened, touched by his kindness. "Thank you, Gabs. Maybe it really helped. Aunt is feeling so much better now and Ethan too."

"That’s wonderful," he said softly. "But you should rest, Lina. You look exhausted."

Alina laughed lightly, shaking her head. "I will. After seeing my class. I missed them too much to rest today."

Gabriel smiled knowingly. "Then you’d better brace yourself. They missed you even more than you missed them."

Alina’s heart fluttered with warmth and curiosity. "What do you mean?"

"Oh, you’ll see," he said with a teasing grin, sipping his tea. "Let’s just say... Class D didn’t take your absence very well." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Alina blinked, puzzled but smiling. "Oh no... what did they do this time?"

Before Gabriel could answer, Miss Kelly walked in, chuckling as she overheard. "Let’s just say the principal and Professor Hobb had quite the adventure while you were gone. You’d better go early, dear. I think your little students have something planned."

Alina stood, laughing nervously. "That doesn’t sound like a good sign."

Gabriel chuckled behind her. "Welcome back, Lina."

★★★★★★

Alina walked down the familiar hallway toward Class D, her heels clicking lightly on the floor. Before she could reach the door, she saw Dante approaching from the opposite end. Morning sunlight streamed through the tall windows, catching the edges of his dark coat. As always, he looked effortlessly composed and striking.

He stopped in front of her, his crimson eyes glinting faintly. "How is your aunt’s health?" he asked in his calm, low voice.

Alina smiled up at him, her expression bright and genuine. "She’s doing much better now, sir! Thank you for granting me leave."

"It’s fine," he said with a small nod, walking beside her. "Though the babies were... difficult to handle yesterday. Without your presence, they seemed ready to overthrow the entire kindergarten. I wonder how you manage them every day."

Alina blinked, cheeks turning pink. "I—I just handle them naturally, like any other children, sir." She blushed even harder when she realized how nervous she sounded.

Dante’s lips curved faintly. "Naturally," he repeated, clearly amused.

By the time they reached the classroom door, both were smiling. Dante told her about the protest—how the babies had refused to study until he "brought Miss Alina back."

Alina laughed so hard she had to clutch her folder to her chest. "A protest? Oh no, I knew they’d do something dramatic—but that??"

"They even made signs," Dante said, almost smiling. "One of them read, ’No Miss Alina, No Study!’"

Alina doubled over laughing until her eyes watered. "Oh goodness! I can’t believe that—actually, yes, I can."

While the two were still laughing softly outside, the classroom door creaked open just a little.

Drake’s head popped out first, amber eyes squinting suspiciously. Above him, Vlad Jr. balanced perfectly on his shoulders; above Vlad Jr., Luna crouched with ears perked; and above her, Boo hovered like a curious floating cherry on top.

"Shh!" Boo whispered dramatically. "They’re laughing!"

Drake frowned. "How long has she been out there?"

"Too long," Luna grumbled, her tail twitching. "It’s already class time. The principal’s being... what’s the word—responsible?"

"You mean irresponsible," Vlad Jr. corrected, looking elegant even while perched on someone’s head.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever!" Luna huffed.

Boo crossed his tiny arms and pouted. "Don’t you think Principal’s trying to steal Miss Alina’s attention? Last time I went to tell her my gossip, he kept talking and talking! Sorry, Lucien, but it’s true!"

Lucien, who had been reading quietly at his desk, looked up, startled. "W-What? Why would Dad want to take Miss Alina’s attention?"

Felix yawned from his corner. "He probably got tired of paperwork and wanted her to teach him too."

Sable, meanwhile, looked conflicted, clutching his notebook against his chest. He loved both of them dearly—the teacher who hugged him and the principal who gave him a home. "W-What should I do?" he whispered to himself, his round eyes glimmering with distress. "If Teacher and Principal fight for attention... who will I support?"

Drake sighed dramatically. "Simple! You support whoever gives you more snacks!"

Boo gasped. "That’s brilliant!"

Luna rolled her eyes. "Boys..."
