I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 489 - 487: Good News (Part 1)
Sally Dalton walked to the bedside and continued packing her luggage, while Liliana Davis watched her movements, only shaking her head helplessly.
Having known Sally Dalton for several years, Liliana Davis always considered her the ideal daughter-in-law in her mind. Sally Dalton had been infatuated with Nathan Leafcastle, and Liliana Davis initially thought that their feelings would naturally come to fruition one day.
The current situation left her feeling truly unsatisfied.
But at this point, saying anything more was to no avail.
Bang!
Sally Dalton closed the suitcase lid, pulled the zipper, and walked towards the door with the suitcase.
Liliana Davis hurried over, "Sally..."
Before she finished speaking, someone knocked on the door.
Liliana Davis’s face immediately lit up with joy, "It must be Nathan!"
She quickly walked to the door, reached out to open it, and sure enough, Nathan Leafcastle stood outside.
"Why are you only arriving now, Nathan!" Liliana Davis reproached her son, reaching out to pull Nathan Leafcastle inside, "Quickly apologize to Sally, you were really too much this time!"
Sally Dalton lifted her face, looking at Nathan Leafcastle as he walked in, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
After a moment, she pressed her lips together.
"Nathan, Auntie... then I’ll leave first!"
Dragging her suitcase, she stepped towards the door.
Liliana Davis shook her son’s arm, giving him a look, and Nathan Leafcastle reached out to grab the handle of Sally Dalton’s suitcase.
"Sally, can you... give me a chance to explain?"
"I’ll go upstairs and book a private room; once you two finish talking, come down for a meal."
Liliana Davis proactively found an excuse to leave the room, thoughtfully closing the door behind them.
The hand holding the suitcase handle tightened, and finally, Sally Dalton’s fingers slowly relaxed.
Nathan Leafcastle took the suitcase from her hand, pushed it aside, and frowned as he spoke.
"About what happened yesterday, I’m truly sorry. At the time, Vera’s grandmother went missing. You know she’s like a real grandmother to me since childhood, and I was really anxious then."
"Are you done?"
Sally Dalton asked softly.
Nathan Leafcastle gazed at her face with a guilty expression, "You’re my good friend, and you came all this way to see me, but I left you out in the rain. I was really out of line. I know this kind of thing is hard to forgive, but I still hope you can accept my apology and stay a few more days so I can show you around properly."
"Nathan!" Sally Dalton lifted her face, her eyes bright as she gazed into his, "You should know, that’s not what I want to hear."
Nathan Leafcastle wasn’t a fool; of course, he knew how much this woman had done for him over the years, and for what reason.
Saying he didn’t like Sally Dalton would be absolutely false.
Whether it’s her appearance, her demeanor, or her way of handling things, Nathan Leafcastle truly admired Sally Dalton.
This eldest daughter born into a wealthy family didn’t have that arrogant and imposing pride; she always studied diligently and kept a low profile at the academy.
As his mother said, a woman like her is a rare ideal wife candidate.
Marrying such a woman would be his fortune.
Over the years, they’ve traveled together, worked hard together, and in the eyes of outsiders, they’re practically synonymous with a couple. Even Sally Dalton’s parents have seen him as a prospective son-in-law.
But to Nathan Leafcastle, there’s always something that seems to be missing with her.
