Chapter 457: Chapter 456: Deep Love Results in Loneliness (9)

"She probably fainted due to over-excitement. It’s not a big deal, but if you’re worried, you can bring her to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow. For now, give her some fruit juice or honey water, and let her rest. She must be very weak. Don’t bother her anymore. In the future, just be careful not to go too crazy."

"Go to hell!" Kris Cooper threw down his phone, pulled a pillow over, and placed it under her head. "Stay still, sweetheart. I’ll go get you a drink."

He rose hurriedly and ran over to pour her a glass of fruit juice. Carefully, he lifted her up and guided the cup to her lips. "Here... have a few sips of juice."

Vera took a couple of sips as he held the cup for her. "Honey, what’s going on? Why...why am I downstairs?"

"You fainted just now. I was going to carry you downstairs to see the doctor." Kris breathed a sigh of relief as he noticed her complexion returning to normal. "You cheeky girl, that’s the last time. No more seducing me like that!"

Next time?

Vera raised the glass to her lips.

There’s no next time?!

Watching her take a few sips of juice and yawn, Kris took the glass and lifted her from the couch again.

"Let’s go upstairs and have a good rest. Tomorrow morning, I’ll take you for a check-up."

He carried her back upstairs and settled her on the bed, then sat on the edge beside her, gazing at her flushed face with a touch of resignation.

"Vera, what’s wrong with you today?"

"Nothing."

Gently brushing aside the stray hairs from her face, Kris leaned closer, gazing into her eyes. "Tell me, what’s wrong?"

"Really, nothing!"

"Nonsense!" He pinched her small face lightly. "It’s clearly written on your face that something’s up."

She curled her lips into a smile, reaching out to wrap her arms around his neck. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"It’s because today is a special day."

Special?

Kris raised his eyebrows.

"How so?"

"Today is our 52nd day of knowing each other."

It’s also the last night they’re spending together, but this, she didn’t want to tell him.

He laughed. So that’s what it was. No wonder she’d been acting so strangely today. He’d even thought something bad had happened.

Fifty-two days? More than just fifty-two days. It’s been countless fifty-two-day periods with her. But as long as she’s happy, it doesn’t matter how it’s calculated.

"You should get some sleep since you’re not feeling well."

"I don’t want to sleep. Can you hold me for a while?"

"Let me take a shower first."

He took a shower, dried his hair, and then lay down beside her. She immediately slid into his arms, her face pressed against his chest.

Turning off the light, Kris wrapped his arms around her gently, then planted a kiss on her forehead.

"Sleep well. We have countless more fifty-two days waiting for us!"

She didn’t respond, simply wrapping her arms around his neck.

Kris’s hand gently stroked her back, his fingers gradually slowing until they finally stopped. Vera, however, lay awake in the dark.

Tonight, I can’t sleep. I must stay awake.

Time passed silently, the noise from outside gradually quieting. The whole city was asleep.

Quietly, Vera withdrew her arm, gently moved his hand from her waist, and climbed out of his warm embrace.
